Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 464: Chapter 464: I Didn’t Lure This Beast

Qing Shi’s expression was serious as he urged everyone up from the sandy ground.

Lotcar swiveled his ears, sensing something unusual in the endless desert, and quickly stood up and grabbed Bai Jin, who was practicing nearby, flinging her onto his back.

Seeing this, Iyas no longer cared if her ice cream was ready, scooped up Hake, took He Meng who was stuck to the ice, and jumped onto Lotcar’s back.

Although Yang Yu was unsure of the current situation, he chose to trust Qing Shi, grabbing him by the hand and swinging him onto Lotcar’s back, then used ”Climbing” to get up himself.

Lotcar instantly took off in the direction Qing Shi pointed, sprinting away.

Once they were securely seated, Yang Yu looked at the worried Qing Shi,

”What exactly happened? Why are you panicking?”

Iyas, Hake, and Bai Jin all stared intently at Qing Shi.

Qing Shi’s expression was more serious than ever, and he spoke with difficulty, ”We might be in big trouble. Normally, this kind of Magic Beast shouldn’t be here.”

Iyas tried to stand on Lotcar and looked out over the endless Sand Sea, but all she could see was a vast expanse of rolling sands.

”Didn’t see any suspicious creatures, could you have felt it wrong?”

”I definitely didn’t feel it wrong! You can’t see it because it’s hidden beneath the sand!”

Qing Shi denied loudly,

”I’ve said before that in the desert, most of the Magic Power settles into the sand. Besides sensing the Magic Power in the air, I also sense the sand’s Magic Power.

Usually, for a Desert Guide, the magic in the sand is like a thick iron plate, only used to determine the locations of oases, and not much else.

Except for one other situation...

On the iron plate I could sense, a moving vortex appeared. The desert’s Magic Power was being disturbed.

’The Desert Death God’ continuously consumes sand, absorbing Magic Power, then quickly spews it out, moving swiftly beneath the desert. With our speed, at our current speed... we might...

Our luck is truly awful. Why would we encounter it here when it shouldn’t even be in this place!”

Qing Shi’s worry turned into panic, and he nearly failed to grab onto Lotcar’s fur, almost falling off Lotcar’s back if not for Yang Yu’s timely assistance.

Yang Yu opened the data panel and looked at the number 1 under ”Luck”.

Emmmm...

This monster shouldn’t be attracted by me; having Iyas in my team should balance out the team’s luck, making it neither good nor bad.

How could it possibly be due to luck that a monster is lured here?

Convinced that the monster wasn’t brought by him, Yang Yu smiled at Qing Shi,

”Calm down a bit. First, tell me what this ’Desert Death God’ of yours actually is.”

Perhaps affected by Yang Yu’s composed demeanor, Qing Shi gradually relaxed and began to explain,

”It’s a ferocious demon that resides in the desert, scientifically known as the Fierce Land Shark. They have giant maws and numerous sharp teeth, capable of swallowing a camel whole in one bite.

They burrow into the sand and launch sudden, unexpected attacks, dragging any living creature walking in the desert into the sands to drown, mercilessly crushing their bones.

No Desert Guide ever wants to encounter it while leading a team across the desert.”

”Once encountered, it means vanishing silently from this world.”

Hearing about the Fierce Land Shark, Yang Yu’s first reaction was, how does one collect the Treasure Ball?

This is a Pocket Monster Quasi-God with a stat value of six hundred. It was a shame not to capture it.

But Yang Yu quickly realized, it was just a namesake; the unseen Fierce Land Shark here was truly a terrifying Demon feared by desert travelers.

”You just said, this kind of Demon shouldn’t appear here, what’s going on?”

Qing Shi frowned deeply, ”Fierce Land Shark is usually found on the western side of the desert, where they prey on Garlic Turtles.”

Hearing the name, Yang Yu also frowned.

Damn, did I suddenly step into a Pokemon movie?

So, where exactly do we collect the Pokemon Ball?

”Garlic Turtle, this type of Demon, just like its name, is a massive desert tortoise named after the garlic-like plants growing on their backs.

This Demon spreads out the plants on its back in the early morning, absorbing precious moisture from the thick fog, and performs photosynthesis to derive energy from the sun.”

”Thick fog?” Iyas tilted her head; she hadn’t seen any fog these days.

Bai Jin, sitting not far from her, explained, ”In the arid inland deserts, fog is rare, but near coastal deserts, thick fog is a common weather phenomenon.”

”Exactly. On this arid route, you basically don’t see any fog. The Garlic Turtle only survives in the foggy deserts near the coast.

The Fierce Land Shark has its habitat defined by its food and would never cross the dry inland desert to get here, unless...”

Qing Shi started to continue, but Lotcar turned his head and interrupted Qing Shi and Yang Yu’s conversation, warning:

”Here it comes, I can hear the sand sliding fast.”

As soon as Lotcar spoke, in Iyas’ line of sight, for some reason, their tent suddenly sank and collapsed, and a black shadow dashed through the sand.

”Yang Yu, something is following us!”

As soon as Iyas spoke, a black shark fin cut through the sand, splashing golden waves as if to say ”the Death God has come for you,” declaring its presence.

Then, the huge shark fin gradually sank into the sands, and the waves it cut became smaller until they completely disappeared.

”Is there any way to deal with it?”

Qing Shi shook his head bitterly, ”It won’t come out of the sand until it attacks; stopping it is impossible with just us!

I hadn’t expected that the first time leading the way alone would turn into this...”

”Don’t complain; instead of complaining, think about more solutions. Does it have any weaknesses?”

Qing Shi shook his head again, ”That’s recognized as one of the most difficult demons in the desert. I heard that it takes at least twenty or more A-level adventurers to even attempt a capture. Otherwise, there’s no way to deal with them at all.”

”Is that so? Then now we can only run.”

Yang Yu hurriedly scrolled through his system and took out a bunch of fatty beef to throw on the road, hoping to delay the Fierce Land Shark’s advance.

But just a second after Yang Yu threw the fatty beef, a giant maw suddenly burst from underground, golden sand sliding across its streamlined head, sand rushing into its mouth, expelling through gills on the side, while the hidden sharp teeth became visible in the sun, strikingly noticeable.

The giant Fierce Land Shark swallowed the fatty beef Yang Yu had thrown and slammed its lizard-like muscular arms down onto the sand surface, seemingly shaking the entire desert.
