Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 466: Chapter 466: Spinning Like a Gyroscope

”Wait, I will try my best to distract that Fierce Land Shark. Lotcar, turn around and run in the direction the Fierce Land Shark is coming from. We need to find the Sand Sailing Ship. Perk up your ears and listen for the roaring engine in the desert.”

Lotcar, gasping for breath, nodded. Yang Yu took out a bundle of rope, tied one end to a weight, and threw it to Iyas,

”Iyas, in a moment, find a way to tie this rope around Lotcar’s neck.”

Iyas, who was close to Lotcar’s neck, nodded,

”I happen to have a good idea. Watch me, Lotcar, and coordinate with me.”

Iyas tied one end of the rope to the bows and arrows and shot it into the sand ahead. Lotcar lifted his front legs and the rope flew up in the wind, coming back to Iyas’s hands, who then securely tied the rope.

Yang Yu handed the rest of the rope to Bai Jin.

”Bai Jin, you don’t have much Magic Power to use right now, so you have to conserve it. Use it to cool down Lotcar for now. I’m entrusting the rope to you. If I tell you to drop the rope later, then drop it.”

Clutching the rope handed to her by Yang Yu, Bai Jin anxiously looked at Yang Yu and said,

”You’re not going to do anything reckless, are you? We can’t handle that kind of monster. If something happens...”

”What kind of person do you think I am that you’re still unclear about?”

”Well, you’ve promised now, no recklessness allowed. If you dare to die, even if you turn into a Spiritual Body, I will find you and Curse you for a lifetime.”

”Then please show some mercy.”

Yang Yu took several potions from the System and distributed them to Bai Jin, telling her to use them when her Magic Power was exhausted. He then addressed all his companions:

”Fierce Land Shark, ordinary attacks are useless against it. It has thick skin and flesh. Having followed me for so long, you should know which Skills to use.”

After speaking, Yang Yu gently tapped on Lotcar’s back to signal him to slow down.

Bai Jin’s pure white Array unfolded under Lotcar, and the instant appearance of snow and ice injected some vitality into Lotcar, also slightly reducing the searing heat underfoot.

Leaping down from Lotcar’s back, the soft sand swallowed up half of Yang Yu’s soles. He took a deep breath; the hot air scorched his lungs, and a sense of oppression weighed down on Yang Yu.

Yang Yu took a Shield and Sword Blade out from the System; the Sword Blade was tucked at his waist, and he gazed at the approaching black shark fin.

Lotcar stopped running. With graceful agility, he maneuvered his hind limbs, drawing a semicircle, facing the gradually approaching shark fin.

The shark fin submerged again, and Lotcar’s keen ears caught the ”buzzing” sound of sand,

”Here it comes, right beneath us!”

No sooner had Lotcar’s words fallen than the sand beneath their feet began collapsing, as if sucked in by a vortex. Bai Jin moved her hand from Lotcar’s back and aimed in front of Lotcar, intensifying her effort to freeze a chunk of ice. Lotcar stepped on this sole footing and leaped to the right, avoiding being engulfed by the sandy whirlpool.

Meanwhile, Yang Yu was still within the vortex. The ice block created by Bai Jin shattered when stepped on by Lotcar. In the spinning vortex, the rapidly melting ice shards offered Yang Yu no foothold at all.

The whirlpool spun faster and faster, and the pointed teeth of the Fierce Land Shark emerged from the sandy earth.

”Bai Jin, the rope.”

Hearing Yang Yu’s shout, Bai Jin threw all the rope she held, and Yang Yu caught the unfrayed ropes as Lotcar raced forward, yanking Yang Yu from the mouth of the Fierce Land Shark with a strong tug.

The Fierce Land Shark burst out of the desert, biting at emptiness, and tons of sand gushed from its gills, turning the area into a rolling sea of yellow. The lizard-like forelimbs of the Fierce Land Shark slammed heavily onto the sand, sending waves of sand splashing.

”Interception.”

Slightly loosening his grip, allowing the rope to slide rapidly from his hands, Yang Yu unfolded the Illusion Shield in front of him, blocking the sand that was ”Bamming” up.

As Lotcar ran, the rope quickly unwound, circle after circle. The rope Yang Yu had pulled out was a whole kilometer long but was far too short for this situation.

With time running out, Yang Yu completely released the rope, drew his sword from his waist, and plunged it into the ground,

”Thorny Binding.”

Thickets of thorns grew from the desert floor, tightening around the tough skin of the Fierce Land Shark, which barely exerted itself before the thorns crumbled away.

The Fierce Land Shark raised its lizard-like sharp claws to swipe at Yang Yu, who lifted his shield over his head, executing a Shield Block, letting the heavy blow sink his feet deep into the desert sand, yet Yang Yu remained unharmed.

Seeing its attack fail to smack Yang Yu down into the sand with a single sweep, the Fierce Land Shark twisted its body and opened its gaping maw towards Yang Yu.

Yang Yu took a deep breath, and a black Curse fell upon the Fierce Land Shark, which suddenly felt its Defense drop sharply. At that moment, a Cloud Piercing Arrow traced a golden arc in the sky and violently pierced the shark’s claw.

Bai Jin’s Armor Corrosion combined with Iyas’s Hunter Mark and Deadly Shot wasn’t highly damaging, but Iyas’s strike was like a steel needle piercing the Fierce Land Shark’s fingernail, causing it immense pain.

The Fierce Land Shark instinctively lifted its hand, and seizing the opportunity, Yang Yu pulled his legs out of the sand and unleashed Double-sided Slash. A red light flashed over his hand, draining his own Blood Volume, coating his Sword Blade with an orange glow. Yang Yu struck a sweeping blow at the not-too-distant palm of the Fierce Land Shark.

The strike, though minimally effective, only dealt a few hundred points of damage, which was insignificant for the Fierce Land Shark with a Blood Volume well over ten thousand.

But this slowed the Fierce Land Shark’s turn, as it planned to first flatten Yang Yu with its Sharp claws before changing direction to kill Lotcar and the others, then returning to slowly savor Yang Yu.

But this played directly into Yang Yu’s hands. The Fierce Land Shark’s bodily structure and habits meant it couldn’t make high-angle turns in the sand like a spinning top.

To execute a 180-degree turn, it either had to travel a bit further, like a passenger plane or a ship, gently adjusting its course to finally complete the turn; or it had to emerge from the ground and use its strong limbs to make a 180-degree turn on the spot.

Being fast in the desert came at the cost of not having an agile form.

If not for having to consider Lotcar’s stamina, Yang Yu could even instruct Lotcar to keep running back and forth to exhaust the remaining stamina of the Fierce Land Shark.

Now, as Lotcar and the others ran further away, the Fierce Land Shark naturally couldn’t tunnel underground to adjust its course bit by bit, but had to turn on the spot like a land animal, using its limbs.

In other words, if they could delay the Fierce Land Shark’s turn, they could buy more time.
