Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 469: Chapter 469: Who is the True Master of This Desert

Letting go would mean getting violently thrown by the charging Fierce Land Shark, like a spare tire tumbling off a truck; it would be very difficult to reach Lotcar’s side before the Land Shark submerges beneath the sand.

As his body plunged into the thorns, falling into his own Skill was anything but pleasant, but the thorns successfully cushioned his fall and steadied Yang Yu’s feet upon the sandy ground.

The Fierce Land Shark bore down on Lotcar, sensing that its prey was within hunting range, it slowly sank, leaving a shallow scar across the sandy surface with its dorsal fin.

Ignoring the thorns wrapped around him, Yang Yu pushed off with his calves, sprinting to catch up, his eyes blazed red as his speed suddenly surged.

[Sudden Killing Intent]This Skill increases speed more with lesser Blood Volume and for longer durations.

Yang Yu’s Life Value had dropped below a tenth, making the speed bonus from [Sudden Killing Intent]reach its maximum of 45%.

But it seemed Yang Yu’s speed exceeded even that of an active [Sudden Killing Intent], like a black whirlwind, he swiftly swept across the desert.

Yang Yu had gained the title [Unyielding to Despair] from the Light of God Destruction, which triggers when Life Value falls below 10% while holding steadfast resolve, its effect being a 100% increase in all Basic Attributes.

It was the effect of this title that gave Yang Yu an explosive boost in speed.

A Speed of 431 points, increased by another 431 due to the effect of [Unyielding to Despair], and further increased by 194 from [Sudden Killing Intent], brought Yang Yu’s Speed to 1056 points.

Whether it was surpassing the threshold of 1000 Speed points or not, Yang Yu felt incredibly Lightweight as if he was about to take flight while running.

And all of this was to deliver a potion to Lotcar.

As the Fierce Land Shark drew closer, Lotcar’s vision blurred, his limbs grew weak, yet he kept running without stopping, gradually losing control over his drooping eyelids,

”This is as far as it goes.

We’re not far from the Sand Sailing Ship now, if I drop them off, my body should be able to block for a while, their stamina is still ample, just a little longer and they can definitely be rescued.”

Just as Lotcar thought to make a sharp turn, dropping everyone off to head for the Sand Sailing Ship, Yang Yu’s voice emerged beside his ear,

”Don’t even think about sacrificing yourself. If you don’t complete your revenge, I won’t be able to get what I desire.”

The next instant, a figure appeared in Lotcar’s wavering field of view.

The person pulled the cork out and forced open Lotcar’s mouth, pouring in a bottle of pale golden liquid.

As the liquid flowed down his throat, a strange Strength emerged inside Lotcar’s body, his heavy form instantly becoming extremely Lightweight, and the fatigue on his body was swept away.

Lotcar felt full of Strength, vaguely remembering this taste, it was the potion that had once helped him escape a frenzied state.

The figure in his vision became clearer, his familiar face unusually tinted with displeasure, yet it warmed Lotcar’s heart.

”Recover your stamina and pick up Speed, didn’t you hear the sound of the Sand Sailing Ship?

Consider this me saving your life. If you don’t want to die, then dodge this Attack and make a straight run for the Sand Sailing Ship!”

”Such an unreasonable master.

”You used that strength and paid quite a price, didn’t you?”

”Get on, it’s not far now. Rest well on my back, you still have to negotiate with the Lamia Clan later, and they are not easy to deal with.”

Compliance was better than courtesy, so Yang Yu quickly climbed onto Lotcar’s body and poured some common potions into his mouth.

”Unyielding to Despair” indeed could massively enhance attributes, but a blood volume of only 10% meant that Yang Yu had no room for error. Any attack from an enemy could potentially take his life.

He hadn’t met the Lamia Clan yet and had no idea of their disposition toward him, so maintaining that status was quite foolish.

Yang Yu used potions to gradually bring back his status, keeping his blood volume above half.

He was in the best condition he had ever been, as Lotcar listened to the sounds of the Sand Sailing Ship while paying attention to the condition of the sand beneath his feet.

A huge black shark’s head burst out from underground, swallowing a large amount of sand.

The Fierce Land Shark launched its attack with incredible speed. Yet its prey were slow creatures; it couldn’t possibly move without limits.

Sensing the collapse of the sand, Lotcar evaded without Bai Jin’s ice surface this time, dodging on his own.

Sand flowed out from between the shark’s teeth and from its gill slits, stirring up clouds of dust. The murky eyes of the Fierce Land Shark spied Yang Yu’s movements as its huge lizard-like paws stirred up sand upon hitting the ground.

However, Lotcar left them in the dust, the stirred sand incapable of catching up with him.

Originally, it was thought that the giant wolf was so exhausted from the long chase, but unexpectedly, he still had such strength.

After missing its target once more, the Fierce Land Shark was in a terrible mood. The eye that Yang Yu had injured throbbed with a vague pain. It had only wanted to have a good meal and store enough strength to return home but didn’t expect to be treated so harshly.

In the middle of the scorching desert, it was extremely rare to encounter a large demon. Having finally found prey that could fill its stomach, the Fierce Land Shark was not going to give up that easily.

It was a matter of whether it could continue to survive, whether it could return to its homeland. It would not give up so easily.

Just as the Fierce Land Shark was about to dive into the sands and continue tracking Yang Yu, a huge sandship pierced into its perception.

The sand-sailing ship, as massive as a naval warship on the sea, rode the sand waves, pushing aside all dunes blocking its path as it approached.

The entire hull of the Sand Sailing Ship was made of solid golden teak wood, blending seamlessly with the desert’s gold. Something had been applied to it, making the whole ship dazzling under the sun.

A white flag emblazoned with a serpent’s tail fluttered on the mast.

Upon seeing this giant ship, Lotcar, carrying Yang Yu, couldn’t help but slow down. They knew that they no longer needed to flee in panic.

The Sand Sailing Ship gradually slowed down, and on its deck, a dozen half-human half-snake people, holding sharp barbed spears, lined up in a row.

The Fierce Land Shark’s pupils also caught every figure on the ship, and a fear beyond words erupted from deep within its heart, eroding all that it was.

Centuries of survival instinct told the Fierce Land Shark who truly ruled this desert.

The only thought left in the Fierce Land Shark’s mind was—”Flee, flee as fast as possible! Find any means to escape!”
