Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 467: Chapter 467 Infiltration into the Desert

Letting the rope slip away completely, Yang Yu took a deep breath and charged beneath the Fierce Land Shark.

The Fierce Land Shark moved its body, its rotating eyes catching Yang Yu’s figure. Its massive body suddenly descended towards the lower right, attempting to crush Yang Yu.

Yang Yu slid into a tackle, successfully dodging the attack of the Fierce Land Shark and reached the other side. Using ”Climbing”, he stopped with his sword, and with a powerful kick of his rear leg, he leaped towards the Fierce Land Shark’s smooth flank.

Even though the Fierce Land Shark’s skin was extremely smooth, Yang Yu could continually climb vertically upward using ”Climbing”.

Yang Yu’s attack power was quite weak; when his sword blade glided over the Fierce Land Shark’s skin, it only left a mark as if a mechanical pencil had skimmed across paper, incapable of inflicting significant damage.

But the Fierce Land Shark was not without its defenseless spots, and its constantly moving eyes were one of those weaknesses.

If he could just thrust his sword into the Fierce Land Shark’s eye, he might be able to buy a little more time.

A dark shadow silently merged with the sword blade as Yang Yu charged straight towards the Fierce Land Shark’s eyes.

Sensing Yang Yu’s approach, the Fierce Land Shark shook its head from side to side, trying to deal with Yang Yu as it would a bird landing on its body, but Yang Yu’s feet seemed glued on, no matter how much it shook, he remained unflung from its body.

Yang Yu drew ever closer to the Fierce Land Shark’s eyes, and finally, its rotating eyes caught sight of him, the black sword blade reflecting an unusual glint under the sun.

At that moment, the Fierce Land Shark understood Yang Yu’s intent. A plastic-like film hastily unfurled from the corner of its eye, attempting to cover its vision completely before Yang Yu’s attack.

However, its movement was still half a beat slower than Yang Yu.

Yang Yu thrust his sword into the gap between the not-yet-closed film and the lower eyelid.

Yang Yu fiercely kicked down on his sword, driving it deeper into the crevice and into the Fierce Land Shark’s eyeball.

The Fierce Land Shark let out a heart-wrenching scream, vigorously shaking its head and striking its face with its short, stout arms, but its stubby hands were incapable of reaching its eyes.

Left with no other choice, the Fierce Land Shark lifted its body and crashed into the sandy ground, but Yang Yu had already reached its sail-like dorsal fin by scaling along its trunk.

On land, unless it lay completely flat in a ”come at me!” stance, it simply had no way to deal with Yang Yu.

By the time the Fierce Land Shark realized that it could drown the annoying fly just by burrowing into the sand, Yang Yu slid down its smooth back like a child on a slide, leaping off at the end of its tail.

Lotcar had already taken Bai Jin and the others far from the battleground, dragging the rope as they fled.

Following the footprints left by his companions, Yang Yu immediately gave chase with renewed vigor.

The Fierce Land Shark burrowed into the ground, flinging up a great amount of yellow sand. Having failed to properly adjust on land, it had no choice now but to dive beneath the surface, gulping down mouthfuls of sand to generate power and execute a turn beneath the desert to hunt down Yang Yu and his allies.

This was its familiar Sand Sea, where creatures from outside the desert had no hope of adapting to the arid climate; soon they would be drained of stamina and become an easy meal.

Running swiftly across the sandy terrain, Yang Yu invested more free attribute points into his speed attribute.

Having reached the Level cap of Level 55, Yang Yu still allocated his free attribute points to his speed and endurance attributes, breaking past three hundred in speed.

And Lotcar, being Yang Yu’s summoned demon, Yang Yu naturally could allocate his free attribute points as well, and to travel at high speeds, Yang Yu added plenty to Lotcar’s speed attribute, pushing it over two hundred fifty points.

The difference in their attributes ensured that Yang Yu could keep up with Lotcar’s speed.

Finally, after several minutes of travel, Yang Yu caught sight of Lotcar. Although Lotcar wanted to slow down to coordinate with Yang Yu, Yang Yu loudly refused and told Lotcar to maintain his highest speed.

Receiving Yang Yu’s command, Lotcar could only comply and sustain his pace.

Another few minutes passed, and Yang Yu finally caught the rope let down by Bai Jin.

But he didn’t use the rope to climb aboard Lotcar with the help of his companion.

Instead, he tied a shield to the end of the rope and improvised, using the shield as a surfboard in the desert, leaving trails of sand dust behind him.

At this moment, Lotcar did not bother about the extra weight hanging from his neck; he just maintained his speed, pricking up his ears to search for any abnormal sounds in the silent desert, but after such a long time, he still heard no noise apart from their own.

”Iyas, choose a direction.”

Hearing Lotcar say this, Iyas furrowed her brows. Why was the decision again in my hands? But now wasn’t the time to worry about that. May the goddess bless us.

Iyas drew and shot an arrow forwards, it deviated in mid-air and landed near the long tracks.

Those long marks were identical to the ones the Fierce Land Shark had just left on the sand’s surface.

”Follow the trail it left; we’ll probably find the Lamia Clan’s Sand Sailing Ship!”

Qing Shi agreed, ”The Fierce Land Shark that burrows into the sands, whatever it uses to navigate underground, remains a mystery to this day. But its dorsal fin must be highly suspect; otherwise, it wouldn’t reveal its fin above the surface, exposing its movements.”

”In that case, we follow this path.” Lotcar adjusted his steps along the marks’ trajectory. ”Iyas, keep directing me at all times.”

”Leave it to me!” Iyas responded decisively, nodding her head and standing up from Lotcar’s back, searching in the gold-reflecting Sand Sea for any signs of the Fierce Land Shark’s past presence.

Meanwhile, a massive Sand Sailing Ship was freely roaming the Sand Sea.

A red-haired woman dressed as a pirate captain used a telescope to scour through the sand, searching for something. The lower half of her body was a brown snake tail, which was coiled around the ship’s helm, steering the course.

At the mast, another half-human half-snake creature firmly wrapped his tail around the mast. He scanned around with his telescope, looking for prey they had lost.

Suddenly, in his vision, a long trail of yellow dust appeared.

”Captain, there’s a billow of yellow smoke ahead; something is chasing something else... Ah, it’s a giant wolf carrying a few people, they seem to be evading something.”

”I know, I’ve seen it too. It’s probably our prey, hunting its own prey. Let’s attack.”

With that, the Captain skillfully changed the course of the Sand Sailing Ship with her agile tail, heading toward the location where the smoke had appeared in the desert.
