Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 284: Chapter 284: This round, I’m jumping into the Seer.

”I apologize, I indeed haven’t elaborated yet, I just wanted to prove, before explaining, that I might know far more than you can imagine.”

Yang Yu smiled composedly, his gaze shifting towards Baronaco,

”Miss Baronaco, I wonder if you still remember the time we first met.”

Without much hesitation, Baronaco gave a slight nod, her words tinged with a hint of nostalgia,

”How could I forget someone who spoke to me like that?”

Yang Yu pressed on, ”Then, you must also remember that when I first came here, I told you that the Library’s strict requirements for Monster Tamers must be hiding something, and that was the reason I came.”

Upon reflection, Baronaco did not deny it,

”You indeed said something similar back then. At that time, I thought you were joking... Now looking back, you had made clear your intentions from the start. My negligence in not informing the Special Measures Committee to watch out for you was a failure.

Even if I had informed them, it’s highly likely it would have been dismissed as a joke, but not informing them is still failure to inform. After the meeting is over, I shall take it upon myself to accept the punishment.”

Pondering over the dialogue between Baronaco and Yang Yu, more than half of the elders furrowed their brows.

Yang Yu’s words were a clear indication to them that he knew of the existence of Fairyland before becoming a member of the Library, and that he had traveled miles to join the Library, at great expense, after learning of the potential outbreak of Darkness underground to become a member.

But could this really be possible?

Was there a chance another elder went out to find him and asked him to join the Library to resolve the issues of Fairyland...

From the looks of this young man, he appeared to be only sixteen or seventeen; such a young age—if he had made a name for himself in this world, the All Things Library, being a hub of knowledge and culture, would definitely be aware of it.

If indeed an elder was looking for someone to address the issues of Fairyland, they would surely seek someone more renowned with considerable strength, not an obscure adventurer like Yang Yu.

Thus, it seemed impossible that someone from the Countermeasures Committee would secretly approach him to handle the matters of Fairyland.

As for his admission into the All Things Library, standing out within the Library, and being entrusted with this critical task by other elders...

Such a thought made no logical sense.

Unless of course, the person who entrusted Yang Yu with such an important task was a complete fool.

The more the members of the Special Measures Committee thought about it, the more they found everything that happened until now utterly incredible.

This man now stood serenely on the platform as if he had long since anticipated such a future.

”From what Miss Baronaco has said, you all must now be aware that the reason I came to the All Things Library was entirely to tackle that Darkness lurking beneath us.

If we do not resolve that Darkness underground, it will surely bring endless suffering to the Human World.

In the future that I have seen, because the All Things Library did not act soon enough or recognize the severity of the problem, it wished to wait until after the Library’s great assembly before sending someone into Fairyland to seal that unknown Darkness, thereby allowing the essence of Darkness to seize the opportunity, escape from Fairyland, and bring about countless disasters.”

One elder could not contain his complex emotions and burst out shouting, ”Absurd, how could you possibly have known all this in advance?”

Taking a deep breath to calm himself, Yang Yu replied earnestly,

”I too hoped it was all false, but after arriving at the Library, my premonitions grew stronger, as if the dreams I had seen in the Underground Maze were coming true.

When I saw my companions becoming abnormal, I realized that the event had begun, and I fearlessly went to another Monster Tamer’s home to check the condition of his demon.

Indeed, it too had fallen under the corrupting influence of the Darkness below, losing its sanity.

Thanks to my prior preparations, it was spared Judgement.

Now, I expect it and its owner are still waiting outside the Judgement Court.

Having seen the way you handled it, it became a major reason for my decision to act alone.

You, preferring to protect your own interests, would rather blame the Monster Tamers than reveal the truth.

This left me utterly disillusioned.”

Several elders felt a wave of guilt cross their faces; they too had once tried to change the Library’s system to allow excellent Monster Tamers to become members of the Library family, but their efforts were in vain.

Yang Yu’s words pierced their hearts like steel needles,

”Are you suggesting that all your actions were guided by the visions from your dreams?”

”I never said such a thing. My actions were all driven by my own will. I saw the dire future of the Library and even further, the crisis of this entire Continent. Fearing that the nightmare would come true, that’s why I came to the Library to confirm.

That’s why, upon realizing that the Library was developing towards the dismal future I saw in my dreams, I tried to change it, trying not to let such a future unfold—nothing more.”

The elder who had just shouted ”absurd” wanted to shout it again, but this time Yang Yu beat him to it and continued,

”I know how ludicrous this must seem.

Likewise, I have no evidence to prove that all I’ve said is correct.

Perhaps, instead of my account, you would prefer to believe that I was deliberately instigated by Mr. Jes over there.

Believe it or not, I’ve simply stated the facts—that’s all.”

Relieved at last, Jes shivered from head to toe; Yang Yu’s shot in the dark had truly terrified him.

He began to organize in his mind the words Yang Yu had said, trying to believe that everything Yang Yu had claimed was true.

That would be for the best, as no one would then suspect him or sideline him subconsciously.

Suddenly, a spark of insight flashed through Jes’s mind, and he gave a light cough,

”You claim, besides foreseeing the Library’s disaster from the escape of Darkness bringing calamity to the world, to have seen an even grimmer and further future. What exactly is the future you saw? If it can be validated in the future, it would prove your innocence.”

No sooner had Jes finished speaking than a soft cough came from not far beside him, signaling him not to continue speaking recklessly.

But it was too late for the elder beside Jes to caution him; Yang Yu had already eagerly picked up where Jes left off,

”The future I saw is one filled with Darkness, filled with Despair, tens of times more terrifying than the Darkness hiding beneath the Library.

It is a threat from another world.

The King who leads the entire Demon Clan will soon sweep across this Continent once more, bringing endless torment and disaster to this land; although Humanity will resist with all its might, it will ultimately fail against the overwhelming army.

The legends of the past will ultimately become a reality in this era.”
