Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 269: Chapter 269: Hey, Brother, Paper Man

The life of the King of Elves unfolded before Yang Yu’s eyes, and he understood why the King of Elves felt such despair.

What surprised Yang Yu was that Fairy King Kaka’s true despair did not stem from the continuous corruption of the fairies, but from being worlds apart from the one he loved, unable to come together.

Under normal circumstances, Yang Yu would probably say, ”Keep your chin up, there is plenty of fish in the sea. You can definitely find true love.”

But this time, Yang Yu really didn’t know what to say.

Because the person Fairy King Kaka fancied was... astonishingly a flat character.

A 2D figure and a 3D reality.

Might as well wash up and go to sleep, dreams have it all.

Talking about why the Fairy King would fall for a flat character is a long story.

As a king, Kaka had been educated well since childhood, evolved a unique aesthetic taste, and had very high standards for his partner, silently vowing to find a queen worthy of his status for the kingdom.

But in the petite Fairy Kingdom, where everyone knew each other, he simply couldn’t find a queen that met his standards.

Over time, Kaka lost hope and just wanted to live quietly as a single man.

Until one day, he saw a beautiful painting.

The painting depicted a stunningly beautiful woman, whose smile was flawless from any angle. It’s a bit lascivious to mention, Kaka couldn’t help himself...

Since then, Kaka became obsessed with flat characters, growing thin day by day. He used that painting as a template, tirelessly tweaking and adding details, crafting his ideal girlfriend, hoping to find a girl just like the one in the painting to be his partner in real life.

He even thought of names for their children.

Unfortunately, imagination is full, but reality is stark.

2D itself represents a kind of hope.

In the world of 2D, most people depict their ideal kingdoms, ideal people, and situations.

But such ideal kingdoms are out of reach.

The reason being, the pressures of reality continuously force dream-holding youths to bow down to it.

The more so, the more perfect and unattainable the ideal kingdoms depicted in their hearts become.

Kaka was not unaware of this.

However, the more he realized it, the less he wanted to admit that the perfect girl he imagined did not exist in reality.

The less he wanted to admit, the more he became obsessed with flat characters.

Longing for the day a girl who looks exactly like the one in the painting would find him, smile, and say, ”I’m willing to be your wife, let’s live together.”

Gradually, Kaka’s reason for fulfilling his duties as king became, if he could act like a good king, then when he met the girl of his dreams, she would also fall in love with him without reservation.

The dream woven by Despair Breath was simple.

Kaka finally met the girl he had been longing for, only to discover that she smoked, drank, was untidy and even used the toilet—completely shattering his fantasy of a perfect girl.

Endless cycles, the same outcome.

Feeling the despair that Kaka endured, Yang Yu stuffed Kaka into the jar.

”Damn it, how many times have I said it, women are not as fun as games. Seeing you like this, marriage no longer seems appealing.”

Covering the jar, Yang Yu shook the bottle vigorously like a cocktail, and Kaka crashed from side to side with the pale golden liquid.

Upon seeing the ”Despair Devour” status disappear from Kaka, Yang Yu stopped his movements and stared at Kaka nonchalantly.

Groggily opening his eyes, Kaka always felt like there were two little birds constantly circling overhead. It took him a while to recover.

Yang Yu casually said, ”Hey, are you awake? Waking you up really took some effort. If everything gets resolved, can you give me a little extra reward?”

Hearing this voice, Kaka noticed he had been placed by Yang Yu in a jar filled with pale golden liquid, this liquid seemingly possessing a special magic power.

As long as he soaked in this pale golden liquid, Kaka felt a continuous surge of strength emerging within him.

”Can you explain to me what’s going on right now?”

Spreading his wings, Kaka tried to fly out of the jar, but Yang Yu slapped him down.

”Your Majesty, the surrounding area is enveloped with black energy. Only this liquid can alleviate the anomalies on you. I advise you to not try escaping from it.”

Hearing Yang Yu’s explanation, Kaka suddenly recalled everything that had happened.

He had just been handling affairs normally when suddenly his shadow seemed to come to life, wrapping around his body and controlling his limbs, making him lose consciousness.

Glancing around at the floating black cores, Kaka guessed the course of events without needing Yang Yu’s explanation.

”Thanks for the reminder. I was careless.” Expressing utmost sincerity, Kaka lowered his noble head to Yang Yu, ”I will agree to the matter of the reward. Please help us resolve the crisis of the Fairy Kingdom.”

Before Kaka finished speaking, the black energy around Yang Yu began to stir, and a voice pierced through the vast darkness, echoing around them.

”How is this possible? How did you manage it? Is there nothing that can make you feel despair?”

Light of God Destruction clenched its teeth in frustration. It never expected that what it considered the safest method would fail so quickly, and yet here was Yang Yu mocking it with a relaxed expression,

”I’ve felt despair plenty of times. The tiny bit you gave me is just a little trick, embarrassing to be defeated by.”

”You bastard!”

Light of God Destruction was furious. The black energy flowing around Yang Yu started to solidify and turn into sharp spurs. With a command, the sharp spurs were launched.

”Your Majesty, it doesn’t look like the time for chatting.”

Calmly covering the jar, Yang Yu tucked it under his arm and pulled out a shield.

The attack from the Light of God Destruction was like a harpoon entering water; it started fast, but as black energy gathered and resistance increased, it slowed down the longer it traveled.

Yang Yu leaned back and flicked his shield lightly, blocking all the attacks.

”Don’t forget, you’re inside my body. Even if this attack failed, I have plenty of other ways to completely pierce through you!”

Light of God Destruction spoke venomously, the black energy around Yang Yu stirring up again.

Originally, Light of God Destruction planned to let Yang Yu experience real despair in reality but hadn’t expected that Yang Yu could break out of its woven despair dream, even smashing the core that enveloped Kaka, allowing Kaka to escape its control.

Light of God Destruction had already sensed the scent of a natural enemy from Yang Yu.
