Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 262: Chapter 262 I Understand, I Understand

The red spell continued to spread in the sky, the azure sky cracked open, and the crack rapidly expanded at a visible speed, the cracking noise stirring all the blooming flowers.

”You’ve been aiming for this from the beginning, haven’t you?”

An unprecedented sense of crisis surged in his heart, and the Light of God Destruction roared at Yang Yu, yet refrained from attacking.

Even if he completely crushed Yang Yu into dust, he couldn’t stop the spread of the situation.

The Library’s involvement was now a certainty.

Gulping huge breaths, and inhaling the surrounding black energy, the Light of God Destruction gradually calmed down.

”How foolish, entrusting one’s life to another is truly foolish! The only one you can trust is yourself!”

In countless records, the Light of God Destruction had seen many humans sacrifice their lives for what they sought or for those they swore to protect.

But... their ultimate sacrifices were all in vain.

Even the best of friends might stab you in the back.

It was with these records that the Light of God Destruction, as it grew, eliminated every consciousness it encountered.

Those consciousnesses shared its memories and thoughts; it was kill or be killed, and by choosing the former, it had come to this day.

”We humans are different from you. All this time, in pursuit of absolute tyranny, you have eradicated countless compatriots of different wills, eradicating the potential of your kind.”

Yang Yu’s eyes were filled with mockery and disdain,

”But we humans are different. Even if the majority of people fail to perceive the truth, there will always be some who can see the deeper aspects of things and teach others suited for it, enabling them to make more correct decisions.

I know I cannot defeat you, and I might even die battling you, but this is the Library, a gathering place for English talent and prodigies. If I cannot deal with you, naturally someone else can.

If one person isn’t enough, then two, if two is insufficient, then three...

Over and over, what you will face is not one person, but an army, the highest echelon of human forces.”

Realizing Yang Yu’s intent, the Light of God Destruction ground its teeth, ”Sacrifice? You want to sacrifice yourself to bring me down? Irrational! The act of giving up one’s own life for the continuation of others is utterly incomprehensible!”

Angry words burst forth, and the expression on the face of the Light of God Destruction shifted to one of mockery.

”What do you gain from such actions? I have seen too many futile sacrifices, and yours will surely be one of them. No matter how hard you try, you can’t change...”

”But you must also admit that some sacrifices are worthwhile,”

Interrupting the Light of God Destruction with a smile, Yang Yu’s eyes kindled with hope,

”The act of sacrifice is a gamble in itself.

No one knows what result their sacrifice will ultimately bring.

Still, people continue to march forth because they still harbor hope they believe in.

Humans will always harbor hope, consciously or subconsciously, no matter the time or situation.

Flight or fight, both are manifestations of hope.

It’s just that the external expressions differ, and so do the outcomes.”

”People truly in despair would just sit down quietly and wait for death, without any struggle.”

Yang Yu’s words fell like a barrage of cannon fire, astonishingly washing away the displeasure in the eyes of the Light of God Destruction with joy.

The goal it had been so desperately searching for, brimming with boundless hope, was now so boldly standing right in front of it.

”Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, really? Is this the hope you’ve seen, the hope you define? I understand now, I understand! Despair exists to completely obliterate hope! That’s why I exist.

Since you harbor such powerful hope, let me utterly shatter it! Let you see with your own eyes how the hope you try to weave just disappears, plunge into the abyss!”

Being discovered by the Library, continuing to suppress strength was a futile effort, better to completely unleash it and spread despair.

Light of God Destruction took a step forward, and the earth around it instantly turned to desolation, as massive amounts of black energy gushed out like lava from the fragmented ground, surging towards the Light of God Destruction.

The body suddenly swelled, and in a few breaths, the Light of God Destruction fully transformed into a colossal Black Giant Dragon.

Magic and black energy are essentially from the same origin; those capable of wielding magic, as long as they can be plunged into despair like a fairy, become a source of strength, there is nothing to fear.

This was the confidence of the Light of God Destruction.

It had been waiting for this moment far too long; the first suppression was purely due to its immaturity. After biding its time for so long, the knowledge it gained, the strength it wielded, was more than enough to overturn the entire Library.

It no longer needed to hide, nor could it continue to hide.

Magicians opening the Barrier without permission was basically an invitation to deliver themselves, once their numbers had significantly waned, then it would be time for it to descend upon them, and no one would be able to stop it.

Opening its massive jaws, the black energy that filled the air around the Light of God Destruction transformed into Dragon Breath and spewed towards Yang Yu.

Yang Yu, standing in front of Bai Jin and Iyas, opened the Shield and cast ”Interception,” a light glinted, and the Illusion Shield formed a high wall in front of the three, but it couldn’t stop the rolling clouds of Black Mist.

The blackness completely engulfed Yang Yu and his companions.

Layer upon layer, like an eggshell structure, grew from beneath the three of them, emitting a dim light. Yang Yu and the others didn’t sustain any harm, instead, visions began to emerge before their eyes.

Before Iyas’s eyes, a young elf flashed a pure smile, ”Sister, when I grow up, I want to be an Elf Warrior just like you.”

In front of Bai Jin, a tall, forlorn middle-aged man gave her a kind smile, ”Bai Jin, we’re almost at the next city. Is there anything particular you’d like to eat?”

And before Yang Yu’s eyes appeared a man with half his body in a jar, holding a shovel, seemingly telling Yang Yu that the world was so vast, he wanted to go see the end.

The eggshell-like structure kept growing upwards, but Yang Yu and the two women didn’t move an inch, until the dark eggshells completely covered them.

The black energy dissipated, and the Light of God Destruction looked on with satisfaction at the three huge cores.

Cores corrupted from humans couldn’t transfer black energy or establish a connection with it as effectively as those from fairies, but sealing their movements was enough.

”Let yourself feel the despair within my body to your heart’s content. Once everything calms down, I’ll release you, showing no mercy as I shatter the last bit of your hope.

I wonder what that man will become after seeing a world of despair without any people. I’m really looking forward to it!”

With its giant wings spread, the newly formed three cores obeyed the Black Giant Dragon’s command, sinking into its body; the dragon pushed off with its hind legs, vibrating its massive wings, and took flight.
