Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 251: Chapter 251: Torn Between Duty and Curiosity

As the black bubbles disappeared, the Sealing Barrier created by the fairies also lost its effect and faded away.

And all of this was witnessed by Baronaco, who was using Surveillance Magic; a faint look of surprise, indiscernible to the average person, flashed across her ageless face.

”They really did it.”

Upon learning that someone had entered Fairyland, Baronaco immediately dispatched people to retrieve the Sky-reaching Library’s visitor records for the day. When she saw the names of Yang Yu and his companions prominently listed, a bad feeling vaguely arose in her heart.

Intuition told her that it was Yang Yu and his group who had gone to Fairyland without permission from the Library’s upper echelon.

However, at that moment, Baronaco could not rashly draw conclusions.

There was more than one way to determine who had entered Fairyland.

The simplest and most direct method was to use special magic at the Sky-reaching Library to conduct a thorough search, steadily narrowing down the possibilities.

Each Contribution Card was processed with special magic. Even though many people entered and exited the Library, making it impossible to identify each person one by one, verifying whether the number of people present matched the registered visitor count was a trivial matter.

After confirming the trio’s whereabouts in the Sky-reaching Library, she could further narrow down the search by restricting the flow of people in the Library.

In fact, that was what Baronaco did. She quickly locked in on the Fifth Sky Library and restricted access under the pretext of ”irregular book maintenance,” thereby initiating an investigation.

In no time at all, Baronaco obtained the data she wanted and identified the three people who had ”vanished” in the Sky-reaching Library.

As expected, those who had breached the Fairy Kingdom were Bai Jin, Iyas, and Yang Yu.

As night fell, looking at the results, Baronaco fell into deep thought.

Should she submit the report right away, or wait to see what that man intended to do?

The words once spoken by Yang Yu echoed in Baronaco’s mind. The demons’ loss of control was indeed related to the abnormalities in Fairyland. If Yang Yu had come for this reason, no matter how he had entered Fairyland, his appearance there was reasonable.

The rules set by the Library had not undergone any significant changes for nearly a century. What kind of wind of change would this man bring to the Library?

Truth be told, Baronaco was curious, which was also why she was indecisive.

Toggling between duty and curiosity several times.

Ultimately, Baronaco chose to submit the report to the other members of the Special Measures Committee for them to make a decision.

But her message had not been sent out for long when the Sealing Barrier constructed by the fairies collapsed after being still for four or five hours.

What burst forth was not a surge of Black Energy, but dazzling golden light.

In the past, such golden radiance was produced only when their magic was activated. This time, in the absence of any All Things Library agents, the golden light covered Fairyland and drove away the wandering darkness.

How did they come to know this magic? Or, was it provided by the fairies themselves... Gradually discontent with human actions, did they leave a contingency plan?

Regardless of the situation, the shining golden light signified that someone had acted before the Library and bestowed a boon upon the fairies.

Many high-ranking members of the Library also noticed the shattering of the Fairy Barrier and put down their work. When they saw the message from Baronaco, they immediately put on serious faces and hastened to the Countermeasures Committee.

Rising slowly to her feet, Baronaco also prepared to head to the Special Measures Committee.

Unlike many stern-faced individuals, Baronaco wore a smile full of profound meaning, an expression that hinted at the situation becoming increasingly interesting.

”Regardless of your reasons for coming here, if you dare to do such a thing before the Library, you should be prepared to confront the entire All Things Library. You are an interesting man; don’t disappoint me.”

...

...

Completely unaware of the turmoil in the All Things Library, Yang Yu paddled a wooden raft, which he had fashioned from a few planks, to the shore.

Everything seemed to have returned to normal, to tranquility.

The crystal-clear lake reflected the azure sky, and the breeze brought a hint of coolness. However, the land turned barren was still infertile and required the fairies’ diligent care to revive.

After stopping by the lakeside for a while and confirming that the scroll’s Array fully sealed the Black Energy without any leaks, Yang Yu and his companions began striding across the endless flower field, heading back to the King’s castle.

In front of the Fairy castle, Sisi anxiously awaited the return of Yang Yu and the others. When she saw the broken bubbles from afar, she couldn’t wait to dart into the palace,

”His Majesty the King, they were successful! They have successfully sealed the black bubbles. We are safe now!”

Kaka slowly stopped flipping through a booklet featuring a golden-haired girl, placing the book on the table, her reaction extremely calm,

”Oh? They do have some skills.”

”His Majesty the King...” Sisi looked at Kaka with confusion. He felt that the King before him was a little different, yet he couldn’t quite put his finger on what exactly had changed. He awkwardly shifted the topic to the booklet in Kaka’s hands, ”The booklet you’re holding is...?”

Kaka spoke with utter indifference, ”It’s merely a boring thing made by boring people. Since they have returned, let us go out to welcome them.”

Having said that, Kaka flapped her wings and slowly flew away from the desk.

Sisi looked increasingly puzzled at the King before her. Muttering to herself, ”Despite having overcome a crisis again, the King doesn’t seem very happy.”

Kaka heard what Sisi said, turned her head toward her, ”I too wish to be happy. But the thought of them having killed so many of our kin makes my heart tremble uncontrollably. Such pain is unbearable. Nevertheless, since we have made a promise to them, and they have dealt perfectly with the floating Black Energy, they naturally deserve some recognition.

Let’s see if they can eradicate the darkness. If they really do manage to eradicate it, forgiveness is not out of the question.

The most pressing matter now is to make them feel inclined to venture into the Underworld, to find and deal with the source of darkness, so that the corrupted fairies may have a glimmer of hope for survival.”

Hearing this, the sense of anomaly Sisi felt disappeared.

Indeed, their King was still their King, always thinking of the fairies at all times.

”You’re right, Your Majesty. I believe they will be able to uproot the problem plaguing us and address the darkness deep underground.”

”After dispelling the darkness, don’t forget to send them back with honors.”

”Of course.”
