Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 278: Chapter 278 Fairy’s Magic Stone

Time slowly passed, and fewer black creatures flew in the sky. Any core corrupted only had to leave the black energy to be blasted by the Library’s magicians into nothingness.

The unattached black energy became ownerless. Some black creatures attempted to claim it, but the limit of black energy a core could bear was finite; eventually, their bodies would saturate and could no longer absorb more black energy.

More and more black energy began to permeate the air, and its scope expanded as the black creatures continued to fall.

Without the control of the Light of God Destruction, the black energy started to serve its role, inducing despair in anyone who came close and luring them into a stupor.

Magicians could not fight within the black mist for long.

The few remaining black creatures realized this and hid inside the mist.

Li Yan captured a glob of black energy and, through painful memories, attempted to analyze it.

Alas, the technology to specialize magic power and the technology to build the Underground Maze had both been lost. Despite studying at length, Li Yan ended up with nothing substantial.

Ultimately, Li Yan tried another method and barely managed to convert the specialized magic power back into regular magic power.

This method boiled down to ”Complete Burning”—thoroughly burning the halfway ”Charcoal” to ashes and giving magic power a new birth.

Having found a way to eradicate black energy, Li Yan immediately taught this magic to other young magicians, cleaning the clusters of black energy in the sky.

In fact, through years of accumulation, the Library had long possessed the capability to deal with black energy.

However, to tightly hold onto a bargaining chip for negotiations with the fairy clan and to gain maximum benefits, the Library had refrained from delving deeper into the underground darkness and stopped at a superficial examination.

If the All Things Library had captured some samples of black energy earlier and compared them with ancient texts, knowing the black energy was likely the specialized magic power mentioned, they could have found a solution and not let the Light of God Destruction grow to such a state.

It wasn’t that they were completely without difficulties.

To sustain the library’s existence, Fairyland was indispensable.

Without fairies, people would struggle to find desired knowledge quickly in the vast sea of books.

To tightly control the fairies, the Special Measures Committee ignored the fairies’ feelings and treated them merely as tools; from working nine to five, it turned into working 996 and even frequently working overtime to repair blessings.

People of the Special Measures Committee also strictly followed instructions left by their predecessors, never taking action until the black energy was on the verge of collapse.

There were very few who attempted to change this system—after all, no one wanted the All Things Library, inherited for thousands of years, to be destroyed in their hands.

Unfortunately, such an outdated system eventually caused problems and even almost endangered the library itself.

Fortunately, the situation was resolved without dire consequences.

This incident was likely to bring significant changes in the relationship between humans and fairies.

Only one person could maintain the relationship between humans and fairies.

After this incident, Yang Yu had undoubtedly become the savior of the fairies. If he could represent the Library in negotiations with the fairies...

perhaps, it could improve the relationship between humans and fairies, with humans no longer merely treating fairies as tools, but achieving true symbiosis.

After clearing the black energy from the sky, under the suggestion of Kaka and Yang Yu, Li Yan led the magicians deep into the underground ruins to cleanse all the lingering black energy there as well.

Many people were experiencing for the first time the existence of Fairyland beneath the Library, and beneath Fairyland, there were underground ruins.

They walked through layers of ruins, amazed by the inventive murals on the walls, curious about the ancient civilization, and planning to research further in the Library upon their return.

However, they didn’t know that once they returned to the surface, everything about Fairyland would seem to them like a dream, a dream that would quickly be forgotten.

After sweeping through the ruins and an endless field of flowers, ensuring no black energy remained, the matter was perfectly concluded.

Standing atop the ruined castle, Fairy King Kaka, on behalf of all the fairies, thanked the humans present and offered them the rewards the fairies had painstakingly prepared.

Most of these rewards were white magic stones, created by infusing wilted flowers with fairy magic power. Because they contained fairy magic power, these magic stones could easily resonate with other magic, producing a more powerful force.

The downside was that these white magic stones were single-use—after being used, they would combust by themselves, turning into white smoke and completely disappearing, unable to be used repeatedly, and each year’s output was very limited.

These magic stones were originally prepared for humans coming to seal the darkness. Now that there was no longer any need for people to journey to Fairyland to combat the darkness, Kaka had taken out all the stockpiled white magic stones and distributed them to everyone present.

As per the agreement for saving the fairies, Yang Yu received far more magic stones than anyone else.

And that was only part of his reward.

During the battle against the Light of God Destruction, Yang Yu had also requested some items from Kaka, which he would receive after the ceremony.

Finally, Kaka personally presented everyone with honey collected by the fairies, and the recognition ceremony was orderly completed.

”Thank you all for everything you have done for Fairyland. We fairies will forever remember your achievements,” Kaka concluded.

Riding a book, Li Yan approached Fairy King Kaka and said cheerfully, ”This time, Fairyland has safely passed through the crisis, but the matter may not end so simply. You should be prepared to negotiate with humans.”

Kaka remembered this venerable old man.

He knew this wasn’t Li Yan’s first visit to Fairyland.

Once as a trialist, and this time as a Library Elder.

Kaka also faintly sensed the Library’s attitude toward Fairyland. It wasn’t openly discussed because the fairies indeed needed human assistance to stand firm in this world.

”Don’t worry, I will prepare everything for the negotiations. I believe, as long as you genuinely wish to coexist peacefully with us, your Library and our Fairy Clan can continue to live symbiotically as before.”

Hearing the promise of the Fairy King, Li Yan said nothing and merely nodded slightly, turning his gaze toward Yang Yu.
