Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 261: Chapter 261: When the Lips are gone, the Teeth will be cold

The grey energy that infiltrated the ground, attempting to discern human activities, became the eyes of the Light of God Destruction.

But the grey energy wandering on the ground was too thin to reach the conference room high up in the Sky-reaching Library.

Through the grey energy, the Light of God Destruction could at most observe that the All Things Library had announced a state of emergency, the Sky-reaching Library had suspended its services, and the Library’s younger generation was frantically heading towards the Sky-reaching Library.

The Fairy Kingdom was protected by the Guardian Barrier of the fairies. Old You Tiaos above level sixty couldn’t enter the Fairy Kingdom, but this wasn’t absolute.

Using Magic Power to seal their own Magic Power, lowering their own Strength, was a special skill of many high-level Magicians.

As long as they wanted, they could actually enter the Fairy Kingdom.

Still, the elders on the Countermeasures Committee preferred to send young people to handle issues, under the pretext of training and cultivation and to assess their character, to see if they had the potential to succeed them.

Only if they judged the situation to be truly uncontrollable would the people of the Countermeasures Committee really take action.

Now, almost everyone on the Special Measures Committee was sensing an unprecedented danger from the ever-expanding Light of God Destruction.

Every member knew that if they allowed the Light of God Destruction to continue expanding, it would eventually affect the All Things Library.

After detecting the expanding shadow, they tried to contact Kaka once again through the White Ball, but it was the fairies taking refuge within the White Ball who told them the true nature of the situation.

Fairy King Kaka’s consciousness had already been seized by the darkness lurking underground, and Fairyland was facing an unprecedented crisis.

Hearing the fairies’ lament, the members of the Special Measures Committee furrowed their brows.

From the point in time, they had last been in contact with Fairy King Kaka, his consciousness had already been overtaken.

Yet, no one had noticed anything amiss.

After completing the task given to them by the Fairy King, Yang Yu and his party realized the Fairy King’s consciousness had been replaced by darkness and uncovered all the conspiracies of the Light of God Destruction, courageously struggling against it.

The members of the Special Measures Committee remained silent, looking at each other.

It was set aside for the moment whether the young generation they were preparing to send could discover this problem. Even if they did discover it, it was unlikely they could communicate it back.

To preserve the secret of the Fairy Kingdom, the young generation selected through the Library’s grand meeting in the past were sent to the Fairy Kingdom only after being subjected to a certain special Magic.

This Magic, ostensibly a spell to test the spirit of people, in actuality, was capable of causing the loss of short-term memory.

Those who were spellcasters would mistakenly believe that what they experienced in the Fairy Kingdom was a dream and, after a while, they would completely forget about the matters of the Fairy Kingdom with no lingering effects.

The only downside was that this Magic needed to be pre-set. The memories produced in the Fairy Kingdom couldn’t just be erased afterward by playing Zhuge Liang.

Lockrose had always advocated dealing with Yang Yu and his companions completely, as they had entered the Fairy Kingdom without undergoing the rite of Magic.

Since there was no way to erase Yang Yu and his companions’ memories, the only option was to handle them thoroughly.

The Light of God Destruction continued to expand, and the people on the Countermeasures Committee didn’t know what the world would turn into after the Undying Light broke free.

But their intuition told everyone present that the darkness, which could affect demons and cause disturbances, if it escaped the All Things Library and was given time to develop, was sure to bring catastrophe to the world without much effort.

As the human brain of the All Things Library, they must find a way to nip all this in the bud.

The discussion topic of the Special Measures Committee shifted rapidly, from how to deal with the three who had entered the Fairy Kingdom without authorization to how to eliminate the darkness completely.

Even if some still harbored opposing views, they couldn’t withstand the overwhelming consensus and followed the committee’s decision.

However, how to enter the Fairy Kingdom posed a new challenge for them.

The Fairy Kingdom boasted a special and powerful barrier, the specific era of its construction long lost to history, but for many years it had indeed protected the fragile fairies from foreign enemies, allowing this delicate race to maintain its lineage on the continent.

This important barrier, designed with extreme complexity and intricacy, possessed high strength and self-repair capabilities, such that even the Elder Council of the Library had no way of dealing with it.

The permission of the King of Elves was of utmost importance for entry into the Fairy Kingdom.

Anyone wanting to penetrate the barrier and enter Fairyland needed the consent of the Fairy King, and now that Kaka had been corrupted and controlled, permission was unattainable.

Without permission, attempting to cross the barrier was nothing short of a fool’s dream.

——This is what they would normally think.

But this particular year, this period, was a rare time when the Fairy Kingdom’s barrier was more accessible, and the passage between the Human World and the Fairy Kingdom had widened.

This wasn’t thanks to the fairies, but rather some sort of mechanism inherent to the barrier itself.

As long as they could locate the passage and concentrate their strength, there was indeed a chance, however brief, to break through the Fairy Barrier.

In fact, the people of the Library did just that, but they soon discovered that the vortex passage connecting the Human World and the Fairy World was like a constantly drifting whirlpool in the ocean, floating uncertainly upon the barrier.

Only through specific magical guidance would one reach beneath the White Ball, allowing entry into the Kingdom of Fairies.

This specific magic was the magic power of Fairy King Kaka.

Well, after all the roundabouts, they were back where they started.

No wonder the Light of God Destruction chose to corrupt the Fairy King, seizing control of his consciousness.

But presumably, even the Light of God Destruction hadn’t anticipated the precise location of the vortex passage; on his own, he couldn’t align the passage accurately.

No one marveled at the exquisite design of the Fairy Kingdom’s Guardian Barrier; they just felt troubled.

Without the magical guidance of Kaka, trying to find the rhythm of the barrier and manipulate the vortex to directly align beneath the White Ball, thus opening the passage, was as difficult as reaching the heavens.

Other methods...

The committee had also considered letting the shadows emerge from beneath the ground as they might, but they couldn’t predict what kind of damage this might inflict upon the Library.

Even more worrying was the possibility that upon gauging their strength, the shadows might choose to avoid a fight and escape amidst the chaos, the consequences of which were unimaginable.

Since there was no way to go through the whimsical vortices of the Fairyland’s Guardian Barrier, the next best option was to create a hole in the barrier.

After a show of hands, those who were originally neutral expressed that, at all costs, a hole should be made in the barrier, to eliminate the shadow wreaking havoc in Fairyland and to prevent further escalation of the catastrophe, decisively putting an end to their passive stance.

The most appropriate place to make this hole was where Baronaco had consistently used Surveillance Magic to observe the Fairy Kingdom.

Utilizing the resonance between magics, it should be possible to open a large hole above the realm of fairies.

And the moment that great hole was opened, it would be their time to swarm in.
