Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 257: Chapter 257: As Expected, Probability Can’t Be Trusted

Hoping to use ”Level-up Sugar” to gain a new Skill and alleviate the pressure of facing the ”Light of God Destruction,” Yang Yu had no idea that the System wouldn’t show him any courtesy. It slapped him in the face with a loud smack, nonchalantly stuffing a pile of junk into his arms while humming a tune.

He was secretly thrilled when he heard he could steadily obtain a Skill.

As it turned out, he was once again ground into the dirt by the smelly feet of the Goddess of Fortune.

However, Yang Yu had long gotten used to treasure hunting in trash, a veritable King of Garbage.

Faced with these four Skills, Yang Yu had his own unique perspective.

At the moment, the most cost-effective Skill seemed to be ”Fairy Shining.”

This Skill could also trigger the bonuses of the titles ”Light and Sin” and ”Coach, I Want to Learn Shooting,” further increasing damage.

It was a pity that such a Skill was clearly a magic output Skill; with Yang Yu’s minuscule Intelligence, even if he triggered all the bonus damage perfectly, it would be as ineffective as scraping therapy.

Others might not only feel no pain but might actually enjoy it, which would be quite awkward.

Any pure damage Skills had the lowest priority in a Defensive Battle’s skill list. If this Skill could reliably reduce Defense, Yang Yu might have considered it, but now it had to roll away as far as possible.

”Fairy Cage” seemed like a nice Skill on the surface, and Yang Yu had seen Kaka use it before...

But clearly, this Skill was a trap.

Who would just stay put inside a cage when trapped in one?

Only if you treated someone like an ancestor, pampering them with food and drink.

Next was ”Fairy Scale Powder”—even though it had a 100% acquisition rate, a 10% chance...

With such high probability, it might as well be nonexistent.

The remaining...

The Passive Skill, ”Light Body,” might seem utterly useless at first glance. But with a bit of thought, one could see it was an indirect way to boost Speed.

It reduced the weight of carried items, allowing for high-defense armor that one might have avoided wearing for fear of affecting Speed to be considered for Equipment.

Without hesitation, Yang Yu selected ”Light Body.”

”Skill acquisition in progress, loading... Sorry, acquisition failed. As you have used the highest-grade Level-up Sugar, there’s a chance to randomly get a Skill after a failure. Randomly drawing a Skill for you, please wait...

...

...

Congratulations to the player for obtaining the Passive Skill ’Fairy Scale Powder’]]

emmmm...

Yang Yu silently closed the System panel.

The pressing matter now was to defeat the ”Light of God Destruction”; everything else was secondary.

Besides, after completing the task of the source eradication, there was another chance for an ”Eleven Consecutive Draws,” ensuring at least one Rare Skill.

Even if it was a Rare Skill, it couldn’t be all that bad, right?

Without warning, the figure of the ”Light of God Destruction” suddenly disappeared. In the next moment, it appeared beside Yang Yu’s abdomen, and the Black Energy transformed into a steel needle, stabbing toward his belly.

”I became the sole will of all the Black Energy by relying on the survival of the fittest, but that’s just your own perspective.”

With a backward leap, Yang Yu wedged his shield between the steel needles and his abdomen, activating ”Shield Block.”

Though the shield sturdily blocked all damage, the mighty power of the Light of God Destruction forced Yang Yu to retreat several steps, scraping a long track on the verdant turf.

Having repelled Yang Yu, the Light of God Destruction spread its arms, and fine streams of Black Energy began to rise from the grass, the lakes, and the sky, converging towards it.

The Black Energy in the ruins had long since been divided into countless tiny pieces that were insufficient to affect the lives of fairies, having permeated every corner of Fairyland over the aeons.

It even repeatedly infiltrated Black Energy outside the fairy’s Barrier, allowing it to enter the All Things Library.

Even if the infiltrated Black Energy would gradually lose its vitality and control, becoming Grey Energy that would only act on ancient instructions, this in no way hindered the Light of God Destruction from observing human actions through these Grey Energy, constantly probing humans with disasters that broke out in stages, searching for the perfect moment.

If not for Yang Yu’s intervention, the perfect moment that the Light of God Destruction awaited would have arrived in another thirty years.

Now that Yang Yu had intervened, that moment had been brought forward.

Unfortunately, the Light of God Destruction’s plan couldn’t continue as it had envisioned, preventing it, as a consciousness, from riding on Kaka’s body through the sporadically opened tunnels in the Barrier to the Human World.

Yang Yu’s appearance also forced it to initiate a backup plan.

The surrounding Black Energy kept flowing towards the Light of God Destruction, rapidly expanding its body. In the blink of an eye, it grew from the size of a doll to that of a trash can, and in another instant, it became as tall as a twelve or thirteen-year-old child.

Seeing the enemy before him grow stronger and stronger, Yang Yu certainly wouldn’t miss this gap, drawing his sword again and slashing at the Light of God Destruction, but the blow was caught effortlessly by the Light of God Destruction and was briskly crushed.

”A futile effort.”

The Light of God Destruction spread its bat wings but didn’t ascend. A large amount of Black Energy floated around it, no longer merging with it. It raised a hand and waved forward, and the Black Energy rapidly followed the Light of God Destruction’s movement, gathered, condensed, and transformed into a huge arm that swiped at Yang Yu.

Yang Yu tucked his legs and leaped upwards, dodging this attack.

The moment he landed, his legs sprung like coils, catapulting his body forward, and he took out a new sword from the System to attack the Light of God Destruction.

The Light of God Destruction brought its hands together, and blackness coalesced into a shield plate that blocked Yang Yu’s attack.

With a ”whoosh,” a silvery white arrow and a pristine ”Frost Ice Arrow” pierced through the Black Energy, striking the Light of God Destruction’s shoulders.

Sometime unbeknownst to him, Iyas and Bai Jin had quietly circled behind the Light of God Destruction for a surprise attack.

However, the damage inflicted was unexpectedly low.

What’s going on? Based on my calculations, the damage caused by Bai Jin and Iyas should be double what it is now, at least enough to reduce twenty percent of its Blood Volume in one hit, but now it barely scratched five percent.

Double?

Suddenly realizing something, Yang Yu looked at the System’s display of the Fairy Barrier icon, which plainly stated in black and white that damage inflicted on fairies was reduced by 50%.

Could it be that the Light of God Destruction controlling Kaka’s body led the Fairy Barrier to mistake the Light of God Destruction as a fairy, resulting in Damage Reduction? That’s just screwing me over! Take a good look! In what way does it resemble a fairy now?!

Complaints aside, what Yang Yu needed to do hadn’t changed; as long as he could sustain continuous damage, there was still a chance.

The black bat wings turned into hands, pulling out the arrows and Frost Ice Arrow lodged in the body, and the Light of God Destruction disdainfully tossed the two items aside. The wounds torn open on its body were quickly healed by the surrounding Black Energy.

”I almost forgot there are three of you! But what of it if there are three?”
