The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1678: Chapter 1678: They Have Powerful Backers Too, Face Slap

He held the cocktail delivered by the waiter at the party, his fingers pinching the stem of the glass, casually swirling it.

He was in the middle of a conversation.

Suddenly, he noticed Shawn Norton and his group enter from outside in the corner of his eye.

His expression quickly turned cold, barely exchanging a few words with the person who came over to chat, then ordered someone to call over the organizers of the party.

”President.”

Torre responded with great displeasure, nudging his chin, dressed meticulously, his brows and eyes concealing sharpness: ”What’s their deal? Didn’t I say not to let them into the party?”

Though the Quarles Family isn’t impressive, they are part of their business alliance, yet they were bullied in the Illegal Zone by a research team from Tsinghua University.

The people from this research team have even come to Inderia.

He certainly wasn’t standing up for the Quarles Family; he’s reclaiming face for their business alliance!

Today’s cocktail party is just an ordinary affair, not involving the major forces of Inderia. As the president, he still has some face to speak, so Torre was quite unceremoniously intentional in stopping the people from Tsinghua University’s research team outside.

His intent was to let people see Shawn Norton and his group’s embarrassment, thereby letting others know their business alliance is not to be trifled with.

Who knew, in a blink, they all came in.

Isn’t this a slap to his face?

So Torre spoke quite rudely, his tone barely suppressing fury: ”What do you mean?! Not giving me face?”

Paradise Hotel in Inderia isn’t without background.

The person in charge, called over by him, smiled slightly, seemingly respectful, though with little sincerity, neither humble nor arrogant when speaking: ”President Torre, it’s not that I’m not giving you face, but they too have someone backing them. You see, it’s very difficult for me too! So don’t make things harder for me!”

”You say they have someone backing them?” Torre hesitated gradually but remained quite displeased.

Who is it, giving him no face like this?

The person in charge maintained a Buddha-like expression, smiling broadly: ”Yes, Mr. Norton and his group know the diamond mogul Q from the Illegal Zone. Someone from Q’s side contacted me personally, asking us to let them through.”

Torre looked surprised: ”Q? You mean that Q?”

Q is intricately linked with the Red Alliance and Maybelissa. Even if not part of Inderia’s forces, this power indeed doesn’t shy away from him!

”Yes, you also know the Kingsleys Family invited Q to the banquet this time. Though it’s uncertain if Q will attend, at least they are the ones the Kingsleys Family wishes to win over. With them making this request, can I refuse?”

The person in charge smiled innocently: ”So President Torre, perhaps you shouldn’t hold grudges with Mr. Norton and his group; after all, harmony breeds wealth!”

”But how do they know Q?” The middle-aged man in his forties still had lingering doubt in his eyes, but his facial expression showed great wariness of Q and the Kingsleys Family seeking to win over Q.

He couldn’t swallow his annoyance: ”They messed with my people and caused such an ugly scene. Let’s say I let it go this time; where does that leave our alliance’s face?”

”Didn’t you keep them waiting outside for quite a while earlier? Mr. Norton and his group were quite embarrassed just now.” The person in charge knew well how to give him a way out: ”President Torre, how about considering my face and letting it go? Later, I’ll arrange a gathering and invite you to dinner, where Mr. Norton and his group can apologize to you.”

”Hmph.” Torre snorted coldly, his expression considerably eased: ”Forget about the apology. Even if they want to apologize, I don’t intend to accept it!”

”A bunch of country bumpkins, I’m too lazy to deal with them. We’ll talk about it later!”
