The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1652: Chapter 1652: Candice Yancey Doesn’t Even Bother Making Excuses

Today is her 50th birthday, and traditionally it’s considered a major milestone.

But the attendees today were disappointing.

They were all minor players clinging to the Wilmar and Sullivan families, with few people from the Beijing circle showing up, especially not from the Yancey or Tanzil families.

At least the Tanzil family sent Zeus Tanzil.

As for the Yancey family, it’s almost noon, and no one has come.

”Mr. Tanzil said she had a meeting to attend and was not in Beijing, so she couldn’t come personally but sends her congratulations and best wishes.”

Myles Sullivan personally contacted Stephanie Tanzil, who politely gave a reasonable excuse over the phone, but essentially, she wasn’t coming.

”Mrs. Tanzil couldn’t come either, so only young Mr. Tanzil came to represent the family at your birthday banquet.”

Raymond Wilmar’s face was long, his brow twitching, as he held a string of beads. What should have appeared as kind and gentle came off as feigned sharpness: ”Hmph, I think they just don’t want to come!”

”Mom, why would that be the case? Don’t overthink it. Young Mr. Tanzil is here, and it’s good that someone came to represent them.” Myles Sullivan tried to smooth things over and pacify her.

Ivy Wilmar knew it in her heart.

Ever since Mr. Wilmar’s death, she had fallen out with her brother Yonathan Wilmar due to finding Adelle Wafford to perform reckless surgery on Mr. Wilmar.

The Wilmar family’s prestige was not as it used to be.

The families that were still clinging to the Wilmars, those who were friendly, one by one sided with Yonathan, collectively isolating her.

These people wouldn’t openly break ties with her, but in such situations, they’d all find reasons not to show up.

In the end.

Wasn’t it because both Yonathan Wilmar and Lowie Wilmar, her family, refused to attend her birthday banquet?!

Those people just looked to Yonathan’s face for direction.

They were all as clever as monkeys.

”What about the Yancey family? The Tanzils aren’t coming, and no one from the Yanceys either?” Ivy Wilmar quickly fiddled with the beads in her hands and brought up the Yancey family again.

This was not an easy topic for Myles Sullivan to broach.

Ivy Wilmar had to speak to her personally: ”I just called Candice Yancey, and Mr. Yancey said they wouldn’t be coming.”

”?” Ivy Wilmar didn’t react at first, thinking there was more, but seeing Ivy stop talking, she was shocked: ”They’re not coming? Just like that? She didn’t say why they weren’t coming? No reason given?”

Ivy Wilmar’s face flushed, quite embarrassed, unsure how to console her. She supported her arm and shook her head: ”Mr. Yancey didn’t say anything, just that they weren’t coming. I couldn’t figure out how to respond, so I muddle-headedly hung up without asking why they weren’t coming.”

If Candice Yancey wasn’t coming, Mr. Yancey certainly wouldn’t lower himself to come.

But the other party couldn’t even be bothered to make an excuse, clearly showing extreme disrespect!

Ivy Wilmar was so infuriated that her mouth twisted, nearly breathless with rage, her face turning to its worst: ”What, what do they mean?”

Myles Sullivan and Ivy Wilmar stood next to her, neither speaking up to answer.

The couple exchanged glances, seeing the anxiety and discomfort of the situation in each other’s eyes.

But if even Ivy Wilmar couldn’t get anyone to save face, they were even more powerless.

At this moment.

Just as Myles Sullivan was at his wit’s end, he suddenly noticed someone walking towards them and, startled, called out: ”Nathalie?”

Nathalie Quinlan?

Ivy Wilmar and Ivy Wilmar both looked up, faces full of surprise, seemingly not understanding why Nathalie Quinlan would come.
