The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 297: Chapter 297: Want to Apply to Tsinghua University_1

Myles Sullivan felt a headache coming on as he looked at his elder sister still deceiving herself so deep into the game.

If he hadn’t been born to the same mother as her, he would have doubted whether she was really a Sullivan, or if their mother had simply forgotten to give her a brain when she was born!

With his square face set sternly, he shot back at Emilia Sullivan, ”You say she’s a good-for-nothing, so how come your family has fallen to the point where you have to put up your house to cover your debts?”

”I remember when Nathalie Quinlan hadn’t left your family yet, things were going well for you. You were about to open a branch in Beijing, and she’d only been gone for less than half a year. How did it come to the point of selling your house?”

Emilia Sullivan and Jeff Quinlan were like someone had them by the throat, faces red with embarrassment, unable to utter a single word.

Actions speak louder than words!

Not yet willing to admit defeat, Emilia Sullivan muttered under her breath, ”That’s because she relied on her looks to hook up with men outside!”

Wasn’t that young man who barged into their private room the one Nathalie Quinlan had seduced?

Myles Sullivan could only think of the phrase ’to hate iron for not becoming steel’ as he said sternly, ”Even if she relied on others, does the process matter? What matters is that other people live well, while you are now like a dog who’s lost its home!”

”Don’t you still get it? It doesn’t matter if she depended on her own abilities or her good looks. If you hadn’t been so biased against her and treated her well, the Quinlan family wouldn’t have fallen to where it is today...”

Emilia Sullivan had nothing to say in response, only managing to retort, ”She’s an ingrate. I fed and clothed her for over a decade. Even if there was no merit, there was effort. Yet, the moment she left, she turned her back on us. Such a person, even if I had treated her with every kindness, would have done the same once she made it—just like now. It’s a good thing I wasn’t kind to her; otherwise, I’d feel even more disgusted now!”

”...”

Myles Sullivan couldn’t continue arguing with her. She was still his own sister, whom he couldn’t hit or scold. He simply diverted his gaze elsewhere.

And just then, he saw Ghania Quinlan coming down.

At eighteen, she was in the prime of her youth with outstanding academic performance and even known as the beauty of No. 1 Middle School.

He sighed internally, his expression softening slightly as his voice eased, ”I’ve heard about your National Artists University recommendation being revoked...”

The mention of this made Ghania Quinlan’s eyes redden, her hands clutching the hem of her shirt, she choked out, ”That piece was my own creation. She agreed to help me edit it, and I thanked her for it. But a few days ago, she changed her story, claiming I stole her piece... When that piece was clearly my own...”

She refrained from mentioning that less than ten percent of the final version was her work, insisting stubbornly that the piece was originally her creation and she had only asked Nathalie Quinlan to help with editing.

It made it seem as though the plagiarism was Nathalie Quinlan’s fault, an act of deliberate revenge against her!

She also didn’t bring up the incident where she pushed Edric Yancey down the stairs and broke his leg, blaming the loss of the recommendation solely on the issue with the music piece.

Myles Sullivan, who spent most of his time in Beijing, wasn’t aware of these minor skirmishes in McKinney. He only knew that his niece had studied piano since a young age and had passed her 10th grade piano exam, so she certainly had the capability to compose her own music.

Thus, when she claimed she had written the piece and had asked Nathalie Quinlan only for minor modifications, he believed her story sixty percent. The remaining forty percent of him instinctively felt that there was more to the story than she was letting on.

His anger softened further as he asked, ”What’s done is done, and the recommendation is lost. Who wrote the piece is no longer important. What’s important is that you’re in your final year of high school now. Since you can’t be recommended, have you thought about what university you want to attend?”

Thinking of her forced transfer from No. 1 Middle School to McKinney No. 5 and recalling the time a Tsinghua University teacher had actively scouted Nathalie Quinlan, Ghania Quinlan set her resolve, lifted her head, her eyes brimming with unwavering defiance as she said, ”I want to get into Tsinghua University!”
