The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 260: Chapter 260: Liking and Liking Are Not the Same_1

”Cough, cough, cough!”

He hastily picked up the cup and gulped down three glasses of water before he could catch his breath.

The look in the little fellow’s eyes on the wheelchair was so resentful it hurt. Gosh, my dear little sir, would it trouble you to give a warning before you drop such bombshells next time? He worried he might choke to death here at such a young age. What a loss that would be!

Edric Yancey’s heart and eyes were full of worry for Nathalie Quinlan, who had been out for half an hour and still hadn’t returned. He was not in the mood to dine with the adults in the first place; frankly, if not for Nathalie, he wouldn’t even want to be in such a crowded setting.

But his sister had been out for so long without returning, and his leg was still not healed, so he couldn’t walk.

A sourness filled Edric’s heart as he thought of his leg again. If not for his sister, he might indeed have become a permanent cripple after that day, confined to a wheelchair for life rather than, as it was now, hoping for a full recovery and the ability to walk again in the future.

”You’re just jealous because Sister likes me and not you!” Edric’s dark, large eyes had a resemblance to Amadeus Yancey’s when he looked at people.

The Yancey family members all had deep-set eyes.

He was young, with baby fat still on his face, and a round visage resembling that of a folded-ear cat. His nasal bridge and facial contours were not yet defined, but his eyes already bore the mark of the Yancey family.

Dark and bright!

When he looked at you, even casually, it appeared as though he was focusing intently on you.

Alfred Garland thought Amadeus Yancey would deny it.

But who knew.

”So what if I’m jealous?” He was surprisingly bold and unapologetic.

Alfred Garland couldn’t help but widen his eyes at him. He saw him looking down, his long neck slightly curled, his collar loose, revealing a slice of his sensual collarbone.

His face wore a half-smiling, half-mocking expression.

Edric’s little face quickly reddened with anger, his White Jade earlobes turning pink, his large eyes glaring at him, ”You’re an adult and you’re still jealous. No wonder Sister doesn’t like you and likes me instead!”

Amadeus Yancey watched his mixture of anger and smugness, clicked his tongue, and rested his hand on the table, the Buddhist beads on his wrist conspicuously eye-catching.

”Do you know why she likes you?”

At those words, Edric fell silent, instinctively quieting down.

Amadeus Yancey deliberately taunted him, his voice velvety and seductive, ”Because you are a child, and I am an adult.”

”Liking a child and liking an adult are different. You will understand that when you grow up, but by then it will be too late.”

By the time he grew up, he could be dutifully calling her ”Auntie”!

Edric didn’t quite understand his meaning, but he could tell he was being ’bullied’ and was about to speak up.

Suddenly, a boy who had gone to the washroom rushed in.

”This is bad, Nathalie, Nathalie has wrecked Ghania Quinlan’s birthday party!”

*

Ghania Quinlan stared at the wooden stick in front of her, her shoulders trembling imperceptibly.

In the private room, chairs were scattered about in disarray, the birthday party decorations smashed to pieces by flying wood chips.

Nathalie Quinlan stood right in front of her.

At that moment, she seemed almost devilish.

”Will you do it yourself, or shall I help you?”

”...” Ghania’s face turned deathly pale, her eyes trembled violently, and she subconsciously looked toward Nathalie.

Those eyes were black and cold, without a hint of jest!

Nathalie seriously intended for her to compensate that child with a leg!

Ghania clenched her hands fiercely, her legs so weak she nearly collapsed.

Had she gone mad?

She was about to attend the National Artists University, destined to pursue art, using her legs for ballet, becoming a star.

Once she married Zayn Fisher and successfully entered the upper echelons, she wanted to take up horse riding, fencing... If her leg became disabled, how would she fulfill her dreams?
