The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 296: Chapter 296: Long Hair but Short on Experience_1

Her husband’s sister is a classic example of someone with long hair but short sight!

Instead of staying comfortably in Beijing, when she was young she took a fancy to Jeff Quinlan, who was worthless except for his looks, and went through hell to marry him, eventually breaking with her family over it.

Later, when she gave birth to a daughter who had innate deficiencies and was born sick, they all advised her to have another child. They said to take good care of the first one, and if she could make it, then make it; if not, then let it be.

But she stubbornly insisted on placing all her hopes on a child with congenital deficiencies, and even followed Mrs. Quinlan’s insidious suggestion to adopt a girl baby with the same blood type from an orphanage as a ”free blood bag” for Ghania Quinlan!

What did they say to her at the time?

It seemed like they said to her, ”Since you’ve decided to adopt a child under your own name, then you should treat that child well. Even though the child isn’t yours biologically, as long as you treat them fairly, there’s not much difference between them and a child of your own.”

But she never listened, taking advantage of the girl’s blood by giving Ghania transfusions every month, all the while looking down on the child for being adopted from an orphanage, never showing her a good face.

Ghania Quinlan attends a private school, wears designer clothes, rides in luxury cars...

That child goes to a welfare school, wears the cheapest clothes, and takes the bus to school herself...

Two people under the same roof, seeing each other day in and day out—if things go on like this, aren’t you just raising an enemy for yourself?

Sure enough, as the child grew up, she became estranged from them, leading to the situation they are in now!

Ivy Wilmar picked up her cup of tea and took a sip of the flower tea. The taste was mediocre, indicating the average quality of the tea, not as good as the tea she drank in Beijing.

She glanced at the girl coming down the stairs.

At 1.6 meters, not particularly tall nor particularly short, her frail appearance carried an air of pettiness, and despite looking timid, her restless eyes conveyed ambitiousness!

Just like Emilia Sullivan back in the day!

With one look, she lost interest and withdrew her gaze, unable to help but think of the other Quinlan girl she had seen when she followed Myles Sullivan to McKinney five years ago.

At that time, that girl wore a black T-shirt and jeans, her skin white as milk, without a single flaw in appearance or demeanor.

If she had to point out something less than perfect, it would probably be those eyes. She didn’t know if it was because her skin was too pale or for some other reason, but her eyes seemed exceptionally black. When she looked at someone, it always gave off a wolf-like untamed wildness. Her voice was not loud, and there was a hint of a rogue air in her casualness.

In summary, she was not the type that seemed obedient and easy to control.

But compared to Ghania Quinlan, who was constantly scheming yet lacking in capability, with not a small amount of ambition, Ivy Wilmar was more impressed with the other Quinlan girl!

To this day, she had not seen a second pair of eyes like that!

She glanced at Ghania Quinlan again, and saw her casting a timid and ingratiating look her way. Ivy Wilmar immediately felt bored. The taste of the tea in her mouth seemed even less appealing.

Ivy Wilmar put down the cup of tea in her hand and averted her gaze, quietly listening to her husband and the Quinlan couple talking.

”It’s too late to change things now, but when I told you before, why wouldn’t you listen! Nathalie Quinlan is beautiful and smart. If you had taken good care of her, wouldn’t you also bask in the face she would bring you once she has become successful?”

Emilia Sullivan could least endure this kind of talk, and even though she was now asking for a favor, she couldn’t help but retort, ”What does she have besides a face? She’s sullen in demeanor, poor in academics, what success could she possibly achieve?!”
