Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 142: Chapter 80 Inquiry and the Impending Pursuit

After Chen Ming left the boss.

Old Wu suddenly slapped his butt and came up, putting his hand on Chen Ming’s shoulder and said, ”Didn’t expect you, Xiao Mu, to be quite handsome.”

Chen Ming adjusted the helmet he had just put back on and said, ”That’s not how you flatter someone.”

”Haha.”

Old Wu laughed twice and walked beside Chen Ming.

Chen Ming looked at him strangely and asked, ”You’re not going to continue slacking off?”

”You can slack off anytime, skip work anytime, but this meeting with Lao Lu without the helmet only happens once. I want to see his reaction.”

”But I have to go back to the maintenance factory to store the stuff first.”

Chen Ming pointed at the transport robot next to him, and the four metal coffins on it.

Old Wu said indifferently, ”It’s fine. I usually have plenty of free time.”

”Alright, suit yourself.”

Chen Ming first returned to the maintenance factory to place the coffins on Iron Ore No., then headed to the Space Station Administration.

He found the factory chief’s office, and after knocking, Chen Ming took off his helmet.

The chief’s voice quickly rang out from inside the office, ”Come in.”

Old Wu darted into the office without waiting for the words to finish, sat enthusiastically on the sofa inside, and looked at the chief with great interest.

The chief just gave him a glare and then turned to look at Chen Ming walking in behind.

At first glance, he didn’t react, then noticed Chen Ming often wears that light protective suit.

Confirming Chen Ming’s identity, it was at this moment the chief realized Chen Ming had basically let down his guard against them.

The chief, though a bit surprised, knew this day would come sooner or later, quickly inviting Chen Ming to sit in front of him.

The chief’s reaction left Old Wu somewhat disappointed and he started fiddling with his terminal.

As Chen Ming sat down, the chief’s face showed a hint of joy as he said, ”Xiao Mu, you’re here at just the right time.”

”The first batch of refurbished goods has been hauled off somewhere to sell, the money needs to go through the space station’s accounts, balance the account for the batch of second-hand weapons I sent out, and the rest is net profit. Guess the amount.”

Chen Ming, knowing the price of the weapons he personally handled, said, ”Thirty million.”

The chief’s lips curled up even more, ”Yes, in two days your share will be in your account, and then we can find a place for dinner?”

”Okay.”

Seeing Chen Ming didn’t object, the chief smiled, reached for the nearby computer intending to continue working.

But suddenly realizing Chen Ming must be looking for him for some reason today, he stopped what he was doing and asked, ”Why are you here today?”

Chen Ming initially planned to ask for leave to go to Star Realm Government to claim the bounty, but since he learned the batch of goods had been sold, it’s better to leave the leave request aside for now.

He took the opportunity to speak out everything he intended to say earlier.

Chen Ming sat upright in the chair and seriously said to the chief, ”There’s an important question I need to ask you.”

It was the first time the chief saw Chen Ming like this, and was somewhat unconsciously brought to seriousness, ”Go ahead.”

”Do you know about the Mining Space Station in the neighboring RM-2 Star System?”

The chief’s brow furrowed immediately, ”That’s a space station abandoned by the company thirty years ago, the star system has been blocked by the military. You... oh, I remember now, previously Dusk and the military, it’s nothing.”

”Is your question because you saw that space station?”

”Yes.”

The chief extended Chen Ming’s thoughts and said, ”The important matter you mentioned wouldn’t be recovering the equipment on the space station, right?”

”The military won’t give you a chance to steal anything. Last time you took advantage of Dusk’s attack to try your luck, but later they’ll definitely be on guard. Better not have such intentions.”

The chief’s advice made sense, but Chen Ming was discussing something else, so he directly denied, ”It’s not about dismantling the space station equipment, it’s something else.”

”Something important that isn’t about dismantling the space station? What is it?”

Using the euphemistic approach he had prepared, Chen Ming said, ”I want to ask, in the company, if your work location disappears, does the company still pay you?”

”Work location? Isn’t our work location the space station? What do you mean...”

The chief instinctively thought about what Chen Ming said, and suddenly his expression changed drastically.

His mind had already connected the content Chen Ming said earlier, Chen Ming’s skills, identity, caution, and the thirty-year-old, outdated Sinda Corporation internal terminal Chen Ming had with each other.

”You?!”

With a hint of tension in his heart, Chen Ming took out his terminal, displaying his identity information to the chief.

His employment history with the company was clearly displayed on it.

Old Wu saw the chief’s sudden reaction and, just like before, came over to look at Chen Ming’s true identity information with the chief.

The more he looked, the more his expression became as serious as the chief’s.

Unable to hold back, he asked Chen Ming, ”You lived from thirty years ago to now? What exactly happened at the space station?”

”It’s a bit lengthy to explain. To summarize, the space station was suddenly attacked by an Insect Race, then the space station was gone and everyone died.”

”Not lengthy at all.”

”The lengthy part is what happened afterward.”

”For example, why did Sinda Corporation never come to rescue the space station? Why did the military arrive faster than Sinda to the space station wiped out by the Insect Race? Why has the military blocked the star system for thirty years?”
