Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 116: Chapter 73: The Inevitable Situation, Gradually Changing Thoughts_3

Once the company’s attitude was fully confirmed, Chen Ming could really make a decision.

So now, Chen Ming’s answer could only be: ”I’ll think about it some more.”

”Alright.”

The factory manager said casually: ”Anyway, you actually still have a third option, continue to stay here.”

”Once you’ve completely made enough money, enough to live lavishly for the rest of your life, why not find a good planet to settle down compared to now?”

”If you change your mind, come find me. Also, the previous offer still stands, the price I’m offering here is definitely the best.”

Chen Ming solemnly nodded to the factory manager, stood up, and left the office.

After leaving the administrative building, Chen Ming returned to the Number 15 Space Arm, but instead of going back to the maintenance shop, he chose to skip work directly.

He went near the Iron Ore No.

At this time, the Iron Ore No. was already very different from when Chen Ming had just returned to the Space Station.

Because, in recent days, he had carried out a major transformation on the Iron Ore No.

The overall shape of the Iron Ore No. changed from the original square iron block to a now slightly streamlined appearance, while the overall bright white color remained unchanged.

And not only the appearance, but the interior of the Iron Ore No. also underwent a lot of transformations.

All the old equipment from thirty years ago on the Iron Ore No. was dismantled by Chen Ming and replaced with the best models his wallet could afford.

After updating the equipment, Chen Ming also intentionally slightly reduced the proportion of useless space inside the ship, like the entirely useless captain’s quarters.

More space and load were allocated to the cargo hold, armor, and engines.

This wasn’t all, more importantly, Chen Ming also installed a new system on the Iron Ore No., the Radiant Energy System.

This means that the Iron Ore No. could begin using Shield Modules and truly professional high-powered military weapons.

This entire system cost him nearly ten million, almost one-fifth of his assets.

To the extent that Chen Ming was still pondering during the transformation.

Whether he could save expenses by splitting a complete Shield Module from another Frigate into two halves, repairing them separately, and producing two complete Shield Modules.

Unfortunately, after trying, Chen Ming found it impossible; a Shield Module split into two halves would reconnect as soon as it was repaired.

On the repair interface of the panel, it always just displayed the negligible materials needed to glue the halved Shield Module back together.

Even if he stayed at the Space Station with half a Shield Module while discarding the other half in the Dark Graveyard, it would be the same.

As soon as he pressed the repair button, the other half of the Shield Module would suddenly appear in liquid form in his palm, connecting with the half Shield Module he had for repair.

And doing so would consume a large amount of his spiritual power, making it a completely unworthy action.

So in the end, Chen Ming could only painfully spend the money.

The final result of the transformation was a ship that still looked like a civilian mining ship on the outside, but internally it was a professional military ship with extremely strong survival capabilities.

After all, the purpose of the Iron Ore No. was clear, it was the ship Chen Ming operated daily, as well as the last line of defense protecting him.

All renovations were carried out with survival ability as the utmost priority, costing Chen Ming a lot of time and effort.

But it was this kind of ship that gave Chen Ming a headache every time he looked at it.

The reason for the headache, naturally, was the rules he had to adhere to upon returning to the Prosperous Star Realm.

Chen Ming still hadn’t figured out what to do, so he could only sigh slightly, moving his gaze away from the Iron Ore No., temporarily not thinking about this matter.

He hadn’t come over now to look at what happened to his ship, but because there were other matters to attend to.

At this time, beside the Iron Ore No., there were a few strong men in exoskeleton suits waiting for something.

Chen Ming naturally knew who they were waiting for, but he wasn’t in a rush to go over immediately; instead, he deliberately took a few more glances at the exoskeleton equipment on them.

This was one of the rare times Chen Ming had seen someone wearing this type of mechanical exoskeleton used for auxiliary work since he arrived at the Space Station.

Chen Ming certainly had an interest in these things.

However, the idea of actually researching and using them wasn’t there.

Because most of the knowledge in Chen Ming’s mind pertained to ship technology and large equipment technology, he wasn’t too knowledgeable about exoskeleton mechanics applied to individuals.

If he really wanted to study it, he would have to learn many new things.

But now besides going to work every day, he spent his nights and other free time reading various professional books, leaving him no extra energy to delve into other matters.

Moreover, there wasn’t an appropriate environment for using the exoskeleton.

Now that Chen Ming had returned from Rimu Star, it was unlikely that he would find himself in a situation where he needed to work outdoors personally, so looking at the exoskeleton was enough, there was no need to use it practically.

Chen Ming glanced at the exoskeleton for a moment before walking up and greeting the few people waiting by the Iron Ore No.

After confirming his identity, he asked them to help carry all the dozen heavy boxes of cargo he brought onto the ship.

These were a large batch of materials Chen Ming had bought from a recycling shop recommended by Old Wu a few days ago.

Because some materials needed to be ordered or were out of stock, they were only put together today.

It was also just as well that Chen Ming was on duty today, not needing to go out, so he had the recycling shop’s owner deliver them today.
