Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 107: Chapter 71: Speculation and Regression_2

But Chen Ming immediately abandoned this idea.

The construction of a self-sufficient colony that can even make a profit requires both manpower and financial resources.

Given that the price of the most basic civilian ship often fluctuates around five million, the investment needed to profit from a colony would definitely drain Chen Ming’s savings several times over.

So Chen Ming merely thought about it.

Then he considered a more suitable approach for gaining benefits from the Dusk platform.

Dusk’s spaceship modification and maintenance technology.

This is a field that matches his expertise, but there are some inconveniences.

Due to the design philosophy of Dusk’s ships being different from humans, unless Chen Ming exclusively controls Dusk ships in the future, he must personally study how to adapt Dusk’s design principles to human ships.

The most outstanding aspects of Dusk’s ship design are energy weapons and energy systems, and researching these areas would consume significant amounts of money and time.

Chen Ming also brainstormed several other ideas that could quickly yield benefits through the platform, but none of them seemed feasible.

For instance, the Teleportation Engine and Flashing Engine.

Both must be installed on at least Cruiser-level ships, relying on engine resonance to drive other ships to teleport or flash.

As far as Chen Ming is aware, that’s how it works.

So the end result is he possesses Spiritual Stones, which Dusk doesn’t understand, but cannot use.

And he doesn’t currently have the capability or a suitable place to utilize Dusk’s expertise in unmanned ship design.

Chen Ming couldn’t help but feel a bit headache-inducing.

Several ideas couldn’t be realized due to various reasons, so he can only temporarily follow his original plan.

However, just thinking about his plan brings both headache and a hint of gloom in his heart.

The reason naturally lies in the military outpost in the RM-2 Star System where Rimu Star is located.

Although Chen Ming determined his own course of action long ago.

To sever ties with Sinda Corporation and the military, embark on a new life.

But the matters concerning the military and the Mining Space Station came together, and Chen Ming couldn’t pretend he didn’t see them.

Seeing them, he can’t help but ponder.

Until thirty years ago, just before his last time entering sleep mode, Chen Ming had never heard of a military outpost being established in a Star System with a Mining Space Station.

With so many ships coming in and out of the Mining Space Station, there’s no way such information could be kept completely under wraps.

Therefore, this outpost must have been established after the space station suffered a disaster, leading to the complete wipeout of personnel.

Chen Ming finds it hard to believe there isn’t some logic behind this.

So after reflecting on his understanding of the overall situation, an irresponsible guess formed in his mind.

Sinda Corporation initially chose to purchase the mining rights of the Star System, specifically targeting those high-density, high-content asteroids in the ring of Rimu Star.

This was done lawfully and legally, without any issues.

And the company surely did not know about the presence of Empty Fishes in the ring of the nearby gas giant.

After all, the mining rights of this Star System were sold by the authorities, who wouldn’t give others an advantage for no reason.

Absolutely, the authorities themselves hadn’t discovered the existence of Empty Fishes.

However, as the Mining Space Station was established, more and more people came here.

Then one day, someone found traces of Empty Fishes.

Thus, the military closest to the Mining Space Station chose to strike preemptively, dealt with the space station, and pinned the blame on worms.

Then, using the excuse of the Star System having dangerous creatures, they locked down the Star System, forcing Sinda Corporation to swallow the loss.

But the real situation is likely to be far more complicated than Chen Ming’s speculation, with more complex logical relationships and intricate exchanges of interests.

So Chen Ming also feels that the Pirate Space Station with Sinda background might actually be a result of interest exchanges between Sinda Corporation and the military.

After all, a fully constructed city on a Pirate Space Station seems rather far-fetched.

And it’s clear to anyone with a bit of thought that without the Mining Space Station as a relatively neutral transfer point for ships,

those running in the Edge Star Realm need an alternative, and the Pirate Space Station fits the bill perfectly.

If Chen Ming’s speculation holds true, with the military actively initiating a conflict, leading to a peaceful negotiation and exchange of interests at the table,

then the outcome could either be favorable or unfavorable for Chen Ming.

Because in this scenario, neither Sinda nor the military would overly investigate the matters of the Space Station.

Before Chen Ming’s identity is discovered, no one would actively investigate these things, and his situation would be very safe.

However, if both parties become aware of Chen Ming’s existence, to prevent the situation from being exposed, either side might crush this small individual.

Of course, they might completely ignore him, since what significant impact could Chen Ming alone cause?

But Chen Ming is definitely not going to bet on this possibility, so ensuring he remains undiscovered is his best strategy.

And if the reality differs from his speculation and things are not resolved peacefully, with Sinda suffering a loss in this situation.

That would mean the military would absolutely wish for this matter to remain buried.

While Sinda would strive to find an opportunity to regain its standing.
