Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 141: Chapter 79: Psychic and Solution_4

”Oh, that.”

”It’s a bit complicated to explain, we’ll have to go back many years.”

The boss picked up the terminal and tapped a few times, sending Chen Ming several books related to the Luder. He organized his thoughts and began, ”The Luder Church and the Luder Path are different.”

”The Luder Church is truly just a regular church.”

”It was established by the Empire’s government during the technological explosion era before entering the space age, as a means to maintain social stability due to massive unemployment.”

”You should know, right? The technological explosion era is similar to the periods following several industrial revolutions, where productivity significantly advanced, leading to the unemployment of ordinary people.”

Chen Ming was evidently knowledgeable about the history of both worlds and was well aware of the negative effects brought on by technological innovation.

Seeing Chen Ming nod, the boss continued to explain, ”The initial purpose of the church was to gradually and peacefully integrate the development of technology into the worldview of those who believed technology’s existence and development were wrong due to unemployment, through faith in a virtual god.”

”The intention of the church was good, using faith to maintain normal life and help people get through the difficult period of technological innovation.”

”But later, a group emerged within the Luder Church, calling themselves the Luder Path.”

At this point, the boss’s expression grew a bit more serious.

”They firmly believe in the existence of the god mentioned by the church, but they felt that the church itself was not acting as the god’s spokesperson but rather distorting the god’s will.”

”Thus, they broke away from the church and even survived the official suppression, continuing to develop to this day.”

”The Luder Path believes that all technology is a blasphemy against the god and opposes all technological products.”

”They believe only strong acts of justice can better defeat these blasphemous things, and only through violence can human arrogance and disrespect towards the god be cleansed.”

Chen Ming couldn’t help but ask, ”Then they still use technology like spacecraft, and even modify them, isn’t that contradicting their doctrine?”

”Indeed.”

”The first members of the Luder Path did not use any post-technological explosion products, but you have to consider how many years have passed since the technological explosion?”

”The Luder Path has certainly not remained static until now.”

”Some of them are willing to immerse themselves in the ’quagmire,’ using the technology they detest to attack and destroy cutting-edge technology.”

”In simple terms, they are a group of terrorists, but terrorists with faith.”

The boss suddenly changed his tone, saying, ”Of course, these are just the lowest-level executors.”

”Anyone with brains knows that the current higher-ups of the Path are manipulating these either ignorant or forcibly motivated people.”

”Their leaders certainly wouldn’t be tech-averse lunatics.”

”They must be gaining some benefit from it.”

”It might even be possible that those developing cutting-edge technology companies are secretly supporting this, to delay technological advances in their competing companies.”

”But this is just my speculation, just listen and don’t spread it.”

”That’s about it.”

Chen Ming nodded, taking a deep breath and said, ”I understand.”

He had absorbed so much information in such a short time, he needed to digest it.

However, he had one last question.

Chen Ming’s gaze turned to Old Wu, who had unknowingly put down the terminal and was openly eavesdropping and looking nearby.

”Boss, I heard Old Wu mention you before, he said you have a very peculiar hobby. At that time, he even gave me a strange look.”

For the first time, a hint of awkwardness appeared on the boss’s face. He said, ”That, let me keep that secret for now.”

”I can assure you it’s not anything strange, nor will it affect you negatively in any way,”

”Alright.”

Chen Ming chose to trust the boss and controlled the transport robot he brought to carry several coffins.

”I’ll be going then, I still have to talk to the factory director about my work assignments.”

”Hmm, come by whenever you have time.”
