Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 139: Chapter 79: Psychic and Answers_2

”I see.”

The boss’s expression didn’t change and he continued, ”He also said that one of your Centurion ships took the explosion of a Drum fuel ship head-on and remained unscathed.”

”That’s because I modified the Centurion with special armor and damping field devices.”

”Then how did you control their spaceship?”

”A virus program, transmitted during communication with them.”

”Moreover, their engine had been destroyed by you, but in a flash, it suddenly restored to its original state, repaired instantly.”

”They were mistaken. I just had my Dusk Ship disable their engine with an electromagnetic pulse, no actual damage was done.”

With a playful glint in his eyes, the boss asked meaningfully, ”Really?”

”I believe so.”

Chen Ming’s casual response made the boss lose his stern demeanor, and his face relaxed back into its usual laid-back expression.

”Xiao Mu, do you think I’m a good person?”

Without much thought, Chen Ming replied, ”I think so.”

The boss had never taken advantage of him, and had even helped him in many ways, though Chen Ming harbored a slight wariness deep down.

Taking advantage of the moment, Chen Ming decided to ask directly, ”But I want to know, back when I first arrived at the Space Station, I had nothing and knew nothing, yet you already showed me kindness—why?”

”I never believe in unmotivated kindness; it’s difficult to accept it without feeling uneasy.”

The boss was somewhat surprised by Chen Ming’s statement and explained, ”My kindness towards you wasn’t without reason.”

”Then why?”

”Hmm—”

The boss didn’t answer immediately; instead, he thought for a moment and said, ”Let me put it this way, I’m a Psychic.”

Chen Ming nodded calmly and said, ”Oh.”

”?”

”What’s with that attitude? Aren’t you surprised?”

Chen Ming shook his head and said, ”I knew you had a unique background without having to guess. The possibilities for your specific identity were only a few, as you mentioned before, and your behavior confirmed that you weren’t with the military or Sinda Corporation.”

”Among the remaining possibilities, it wouldn’t be an executive of a competing company that Sinda Corporation respects and places here.”

”So it basically boils down to three choices: someone from the authorities, a member of some important faction, or an individual with a special status.”

”You don’t seem like an authority figure, so we can rule out the first.”

”You have access to a lot of resources from Sinda Corporation, even the shipyard of the patrol team. Sinda Corporation is unlikely to give those resources to someone from another faction, so the second guess can also be ruled out.”

”There aren’t many possibilities left. A person that the company values; I guess you’re a Psychic.”

After hearing Chen Ming’s reasoning, the boss clapped in approval and said, ”You’ve got a sharp mind. Although the guess is slightly off, your general thinking is correct.”

”Because Sinda Corporation did sell a small part of the Space Station to the faction I’m part of, and granted me a portion of the Space Station’s access.”

To this, Chen Ming could only say, ”That’s something beyond my understanding.”

”Indeed.”

”Then, is there something else you might not understand?”

”What is it?”

”Trained Psychics can sense the spiritual energy fluctuations of other Psychics.”

Under his helmet, Chen Ming’s face tightened for a moment.

The boss’s words not only surprised and shocked Chen Ming, but also clarified the situation with his panel.

The panel was an embodiment of his psychic abilities, manifested in a way he could comprehend in his mind.

Chen Ming’s earlier bluff about being a Psychic turned out to be true.

If the panel was indeed a manifestation of his psychic abilities, then not opting for the Military Outpost was undoubtedly his best decision.

Chen Ming took a deep breath, calmed his emotions, and looked at the boss again.

The boss, upon seeing Chen Ming’s sudden rigidity because of his words, displayed a satisfied, teasing smile.

”Ever since I first saw you, I knew befriending you wouldn’t be a mistake.”

”Aren’t you afraid that I might be a villain?”

”I’m a Psychic.”

”...”

This reason left Chen Ming speechless.

It was then that Chen Ming suddenly realized why Lao Wu and the factory director treated him so well; it must be due to the boss’s psychic abilities.

Chen Ming didn’t feel particularly concerned about it.

Interpersonal relationships are about understanding a person’s general character using some methods, then choosing to invest time and energy to interact appropriately and maintain the relationship.

The boss and his people just replaced the method of understanding with the faster psychic abilities.

Moreover, interactions go both ways.

During this period, Chen Ming could sense that whether it was the boss, Lao Wu, or the director, they were all people who could be trusted to a certain extent, and there shouldn’t be any issues interacting with them in the long term.

So, the fact that they used psychic energy to determine whether he was a good person didn’t matter to Chen Ming; he didn’t plan to dwell on it.

On the contrary, if the boss were a Psychic, Chen Ming might find answers to many of his questions.

”I heard that the military has the ability to detect Psychics? Is it through this?”

”More or less, but there are also more specialized methods.”

”You don’t need to worry about them. The moment I saw you, I already shielded your psychic energy fluctuations. Unless your psychic energy exceeds a certain threshold, no one will detect it.”
