Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 128: Chapter 76: Battle_3

The target it intended to attack was, of course, the core of this group of pirates, the Mule-class ship with several cargo holds attached on the outside.

The Warrior Level approached the Mule at the fastest speed achievable in the route, firing two pre-prepared Cyber SRM missiles from the left and right.

They rushed towards the Mule, protected by shields and other ships.

The pirate ship immediately activated their onboard point-defense weapons, trying to destroy the missiles mid-flight.

However, both the Cyber SRM missile and the Warrior transformation are products of Speed Particle Technology.

The detection system built into the missile can automatically trigger a second explosion when it detects that it is about to be intercepted and destroyed by point-defense weapons.

A large number of high-speed needles are released in the second explosion of the missile.

They are extremely lethal to shields.

The targeted Mule-class ship, with its energy and shield system removed from a frigate, instantly reacted to such attacks as if the Centurion were focus-fired by all pirate ships.

Unnatural vibrations appeared on the shield, threatening an overload at any moment.

Meanwhile, Chen Ming utilized the ample combat supplies he prepared before the hunt to repair the missile launch bay paired with the Cyber SRM as it reset.

A new warhead appeared instantly in the launch bay, ready to fire again at any moment.

If even one hits, the Mule-class will directly overload.

However, Gamma B did not launch a second round.

Instead, it immediately activated the plasma thrusters installed during the Speed Particle Technology transformation of the Warrior Level after the first missile salvo.

The rear engine of the Warrior Level activated at full power instantly, spewing a large amount of bright green plasma from its exhaust ports.

The surge in maneuverability allowed it to instantly distance itself from the pirate fleet.

With this distance, the missile weapon loses its effectiveness.

Chen Ming knew that Gamma B didn’t do it on purpose; it was only a coordination mistake due to their unfamiliarity.

It wasn’t a big problem.

Because besides the Cyber SRM missiles, the Warrior Level still had two ion beams continuously attacking the Mule-class.

Although earlier the ion beams from the Refraction Level underperformed, it was because the environment wasn’t suitable.

But now.

The moment the two ion beams hit the Mule-class’s shield.

A large amount of arc flashed where the ion beams hit, constantly damaging the Mule-class’s hull with arcs and indirectly generated electromagnetic pulses.

This is the special effect of the ion beam.

Its beam can enhance the hard radiation energy of the ship while ascending, creating these arcs that can directly penetrate the shields.

The arcs and electromagnetic pulses instantly paralyzed the Mule-class’s weapons, with flickering arcs still spreading to the side.

Possessing extremely terrifying suppression capabilities.

However, the pirates weren’t fools, immediately shutting down the shields upon realizing the ion beam’s special effects.

Choosing to let the armor withstand the rather weak destructive capability of the ion beam.

The inherent limitation of the ion beam was once again highlighted.

However, the Warrior Level had something else.

The High-Energy Focusing System Module.

Chen Ming purposely didn’t let the Refraction Level, which also had this module, use it earlier to ensure the pirates wouldn’t be prepared and to unleash its effect in more crucial moments.

The moment the Mule-class deactivated its shields, the Warrior transformation’s high-energy focusing module activated immediately.

Visible energy fluctuations like ion balls appeared on the two medium force points of the ion beams on the ship’s exterior.

The ion beams, which could originally only inflict slow damage to the ship’s armor, instantly thickened by several times.

The impacted areas on the exterior armor of the Mule-class ship even exhibited metal melting, with lots of molten iron splattering out due to the pressure of temperature differences between inner and outer layers.

However, such power and destruction speed was still a bit slow for a Mule-class ship about 130 meters long.

With cover from other ships, the Warrior Level couldn’t directly attack the engines.

Before the Mule-class’s radiation energy value was completely dissipated, these ion beams weren’t enough to cripple it.

If it managed to reactivate its shields, the next wave wouldn’t present such a good opportunity for the Warrior Level to engage at close range.

But Chen Ming had actually prepared something else on the Warrior Level.

An Overload Grid.

This was a modification Chen Ming decided to install on the Warrior Level after contemplation over the past two days.

After all, the instantaneous outburst it produced in all aspects was extremely useful.

Moreover, the Overload Grid installed by Chen Ming was the Overload Grid technology he found online that had been developed and improved over thirty years.

And it was while reviewing the new Overload Grid technology that Chen Ming realized where he had seen the term Luder before.

It was on his terminal, in the title of a professional book that documented Overload Grid and a series of other dangerous modification technologies.

The Overload Grid transformation was created by the Luder Zuo Jing people.

It seemed they used these technologies to announce their existence to the world.

However, apart from that updated professional book, Chen Ming indeed didn’t find other records about the Luder Zuo Jing people.

Chen Ming wasn’t sure about the Luder Zuo Jing people, but their technology was indeed useful.

So Chen Ming didn’t care who invented this technology.

As long as it was usable and effective, it was enough.

Just like now.

With the dual reinforcement of the Overload Grid and the High-Energy Focusing System.
