Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 124: Chapter 75 Target_3

Anyway, he had already done as the manager instructed, so whether people were safe or not was no longer his problem.

What could he possibly do to stop someone like Chen Ming from doing anything once he set his mind to it?

Moreover, he initially spotted Chen Ming because Old Wu had a certain eye for him; if Old Wu believed Chen Ming could take down even more powerful pirates, then he might as well think the same.

As the glasses displayed more pirate information, Chen Ming’s target was quickly decided.

The target he chose was a lead figure in a recent attack he had just read about in today’s news.

This group of pirates attacked a convoy delivering supplies to a small colony, and after a fierce clash with the local patrol team, successfully entered the Superspace Channel, shaking off their pursuit.

Although the news only presented a few pictures, with these pictures and some simple logical reasoning, Chen Ming could ascertain that their ship’s damage was definitely significant.

And the booty they had just seized would certainly need to be offloaded.

Hence, it’s actually quite easy to determine their next whereabouts.

Unless they were willing to risk their ship tearing apart to travel farther for repairs and offloading, their next stop would certainly be the nearest Pirate Space Station.

So, for convenience, Chen Ming chose this group of pirates, who would soon arrive here.

The bounty for their leader was set at 22 million.

And several of their subordinates were also wanted with bounties ranging from several tens of thousands to millions, suggesting they were of significant weight.

The boss, surprised by Chen Ming’s choice, asked, ”Are you sure you want to choose this one?”

”What about it?”

”Nothing, it’s just that I happen to have surveillance footage of when their patrol team engaged them, so if you’re choosing this, I can give you more intelligence.”

The boss looked up and said to the glasses, ”Just put out the specific intel, I’ll handle the rest and give it to him personally later.”

Glasses quietly operated on the computer, displaying more detailed intelligence on the pirates on the screen.

The group of pirates possessed three destroyers and eight frigates in total.

Their destroyers were transformed from a type of commercial ship known as the Mule Level.

Most of the frigates were miscellaneous brands, similarly cobbled together and modified.

The intelligence detailed the condition of their ships comprehensively.

It specifically noted that the Mule Level’s militarized subsystems were forcibly installed, taken from a military frigate.

As for why the intelligence was so clear, Chen Ming figured he’d ask Old Wu who worked at the maintenance factory.

Although they looked like they didn’t have much strength, they certainly weren’t a match for the patrol team, but they could probably handle attacking some scattered convoys.

Which matched the situation Chen Ming saw in the news before.

Old Wu suddenly joined Chen Ming, looking at his target and, as if reminded of something, said, ”I remember this group of pirates seems to have some connection with the Luder.”

Luder?

Chen Ming felt like he had heard this name somewhere before, but couldn’t quite recall.

The boss seemed quite knowledgeable about Luder, furrowed his brows slightly, and asked, ”Has Luder reached here, the Zuo Jing’s?”

”Should be.”

The cryptic conversation between the two left Chen Ming completely bewildered, so he simply asked, ”What is Luder? And what is Zuo Jing?”

The boss, once again focusing on Chen Ming, said, ”You’re not aware? Well, this is a bit complex to explain.”

”Just know that Luder is the name of a church, and Zuo Jing refers to a group of lunatics who believe in this church; they’re capable of doing anything.”

”If you try to look it up yourself, you’ll likely only find information on the Luder Church, but probably nothing about Zuo Jing.”

”If you’re interested, you can come back and talk with me in detail later.”

”Alright.”

Chen Ming nodded to the boss with some gratitude, saying, ”But I still don’t quite understand.”

The boss thought for a moment, pointing to the detailed pirate intel on the screen, ”See those two ships? Do you know what they are?”

Looking at the two highly modified ships in the pirate fleet that the boss pointed at, Chen Ming said, ”Drum Level, fuel transport ship.”

”Inside, they have specialized facilities to suppress violent reactions caused by various situations in spacecraft fuel, generally only used by large fleets.”

”The pirates seemed to have done quite a lot of modifications to the engines and hulls, making them likely very fast; I can’t see much else.”

The boss withdrew his hand that was pointing at the screen and said, ”You sure know your stuff. So, what do you think this small fleet’s intention is in bringing two highly modified fuel transport ships and even using them to attack other convoys?”

Chen Ming almost immediately realized a possibility.

”Self-destruction?”

”Precisely, the folks from Luder Zuo Jing are insane, so be careful when dealing with them.”

”Got it,” Chen Ming replied.

The boss, not tiring of explaining, continued, ”You’re sure about what to do after handling this, right?”

Chen Ming found the boss’s attitude a little strange but answered anyway, ”Yes, I’m clear.”

”I need to go to the colony where the Star Realm Government is located to submit combat footage and tangible proof. Generally, dragging the abandoned ship over should suffice, but if there’s a body for DNA verification, that’s even better.”

On the way here with Old Wu, he had done a bit of homework.

Although armed spacecraft permits were ultimately approved by the government in the Prosperous Star Realm, the bounties for pirates were still handled by the local Star Realm Government.
