Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 127: Chapter 76 Battle_2

In the instant that three spaceships were paralyzed, the ion beam and pulse laser cannon on the Refraction Level simultaneously concentrated firepower on the engine of that Mule Level ship.

Aiming to completely destroy its ability to escape.

However, the ion beam itself is only an auxiliary type of weapon, so the actual damage effect was not ideal.

Instead, the pulse laser cannon firing multiple energy cannon shells had a great effect when hitting the hull.

Groups of spindle-shaped energy aggregators, fired at high speed, continually stripped the pirate spaceship’s armor at the impact points while also damaging their ship’s engine.

Even if the firepower of the Refraction Level really wasn’t enough to destroy the target in a short period.

Those arc balls alone could already paralyze these three ships until the Refraction’s fuel is exhausted.

And all this happened in just a few seconds.

Only now did the Pirate Leader react; they suddenly lost communication with three spacecraft and noticed the Refraction Level behind them.

”What’s going on? Why is there a new Dusk ship attacking us?”

The pilot of the Pirate Mule Level, seeing the appearance of the Refraction Level on the exterior camera footage of the spaceship, looked a bit nervous.

He immediately warned the others loudly, ”That’s an Electromagnetic Capture Ship! It has an Electromagnetic Shielding Device on board, which blocks all sensor signals, and even now we haven’t detected it on our sensors.”

”That electric ball can create an EMP over a very large area; we absolutely cannot get close.”

Listening to his subordinates’ description, the Pirate Leader’s expression was not good; he knew they were in trouble now.

The advanced technology of that Dusk Electromagnetic ship, far surpassing their ships, alone was enough to make them sweat.

Not to mention there were those three problematic frigates ahead.

If caught in a pincer attack, there would be major trouble.

So their only option now was to temporarily abandon the three already-controlled ships and find a way to break through the currently besieged situation.

Then consider whether to fight or flee.

Since they’ve decided to do this, breaking through a two-hundred-meter destroyer with a powerful electromagnetic pulse device versus three frigates altogether not even reaching a hundred meters shouldn’t require much deliberation.

The pirates’ choice was clear and correct.

But when it came to actual actions, things might not develop as the Pirate Leader intended.

Facing the still remaining one destroyer and four frigates from the pirate fleet charging towards them, Chen Ming headstrongly controlled the Centurion to activate the shield and charged in.

Directly plunging into the firepower range of the five pirate ships.

The two Tearers and six Light Needles that Chen Ming specifically installed and modified were first to enter range.

A large number of High-Explosive Armor-Piercing Shells and high-speed needles rushed toward the fleet.

Immediately causing violent fluctuations on the shields of the two foremost frigates.

Forcing these two frigates to decelerate and deactivate their shields, hiding behind the other ships.

Subsequently, the pirates’ counterattack followed.

While the pirates’ ships might be inferior, their weapons definitely were not.

Although their spaceship weapons couldn’t compare to Chen Ming’s meticulously modified weapons.

The concentrated fire from the remaining few vessels still caused the Centurion’s radiation energy value to surge by several hundred the moment they engaged.

The panel Chen Ming kept in front of him easily showed the power of this round of concentrated fire.

[Radiation Energy Capacity: 877 (806)/900]

The Centurion’s energy capacity almost reached its limit, with an additional figure in parentheses.

And when Centurion’s energy dissipated during the gaps in the pirate ships’ firepower, reducing to the value within the parentheses.

The radiation energy value did not continue to drop; instead, it became stuck at this point.

Because the spaceship’s radiant energy is actually divided into two types.

One is the ship’s own actively growing energy.

This is the energy produced when the ship maintains its shield and uses high-intensity weapons.

Energy generated in this manner, given the premise of intentional design by the ship itself, can be passively dissipated unconditionally.

This is generally referred to as Soft Energy.

In addition to Soft Energy, there is another type of energy.

This is the energy that grows passively when the ship’s shield is hit.

This part of the energy is not part of the ship’s initial pre-design, and these energies also fluctuate differently depending on the weapon type and angle hit, making it impossible to preemptively prevent it.

Therefore, such energy cannot be rapidly dissipated during the shield’s operation and instead accumulates continuously within the ship’s electric grid.

Only by completely shutting down the shield system can this part of the energy, generally called Hard Energy, be dissipated.

Thus, when the Centurion was almost pushed to its energy limit by a round of firepower, Chen Ming directly shut down its shield and symbolically launched a missile.

He then activated the Centurion’s built-in Damping Field Apparatus.

Although it requires the shield to be turned off and weapons to be paused when activated, this is an apparatus independent of the energy system.

Thus, when it is activated, the Centurion Level can continue dissipating energy normally.

Before the Damping Field Device reaches the end of its operating time, it’s enough for the Centurion Level to dissipate the energy to a safe level.

Then to continue taking another round of damage.

As the Centurion was already engaged with the pirates, the Warrior Level controlled by Gamma B also timed its entrance from the flank into the battle zone during the pirate firepower’s gaps, perfectly aligning itself.
