After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 2229: Chapter 2233: I Won’t Allow Anything to Happen to Her

Immediately, several of his men rushed over, forming a guard behind him.

Ah Ke could tell something was wrong, so he also brought two of his men and hurried upstairs.

Everyone had already shown up; only ROY still hadn’t come, so Luo Ke couldn’t help but grow suspicious of him.

Very soon Luo Ke arrived outside Xu Xia’s guest room door and stopped. He lifted his chin slightly toward a bodyguard behind him.

The bodyguard nodded, stepped forward, grabbed the doorknob, and gently pushed the door.

The door wasn’t locked; with a light twist, it swung open.

Hearing the sound of the door opening, Leng Zirui turned his face, only then remembering he hadn’t locked it.

”Get out!”

He yanked the blanket over to cover Xu Xia and roared.

”Sorry.”

The bodyguard hurriedly backed out, pulled the door shut tight, then leaned in and murmured a couple of sentences to Luo Ke.

”Bastard!”

Luo Ke cursed under his breath, feeling a bit irritated.

At a time like this, he still has the mood to screw around with a woman!

Annoyed or not, Luo Ke ultimately dismissed his suspicion of Leng Zirui.

”Go comb through everything again. Don’t overlook any detail. And get the power back on as fast as you can!” He gave his orders to the group, then strode upstairs.

Upstairs, the bodyguards had already lit candles. The two guarding outside Luo Xiaoqian’s door saw him come up and immediately saluted him.

”How’s Madam?”

”No movement at all. She should be asleep, I guess?” one of the bodyguards answered.

Inside the room.

Luo Xiaoqian was clutching the scissors, leaning against the wall beside the door. Listening to the sounds outside, her nerves were stretched to the limit.

Damn Luo Ke, he hasn’t given up yet, has he?!

Luo Ke glanced at Luo Xiaoqian’s door and finally lost interest. He’d always been suspicious by nature, and the person he cared about most in this world was himself. At a moment like this, he was worried there might be an assassin inside, so of course he had no mood left to tangle with Luo Xiaoqian.

”Watch her carefully. I won’t allow anything to happen to her!”

With that order, Luo Ke slipped his hand into his jacket pocket and walked toward the stairs.

Listening as his footsteps faded away, Luo Xiaoqian secretly let out a breath, then carefully stood up and tiptoed over to the bed, easing herself down flat onto the pillow.

On the stairs, Luo Ke had no idea his juice had already been switched by Leng Zirui. As he went downstairs, he fished the pill bottle out of his pocket, frowning in puzzlement.

Strange. Could it be the meds have some kind of reaction with the juice? Why was there no effect at all when I used it on Luo Xiaoqian?!

Or maybe the dosage was too small. Looks like next time I’ll have to add another pill.

Stuffing the bottle back into his pocket, Luo Ke went downstairs, brows knitted.

Leng Zimo was in his room, pressed up against the door, listening to the sounds outside. His room was on the first floor, a workers’ room not far from the kitchen. With the door half open, he could hear the noises from the living room clearly.

Hearing Luo Ke talking with his men, he also silently let out a breath of relief.

The crisis tonight was finally resolved.

He carefully shut the door tight, then leaned his back against it, clenching his fists.

Luo Ke, I will definitely kill you with my own hands!

Two hours later, the engineer finally arrived at the castle. Then, after more than two hours of line inspection and over an hour of emergency repairs, the power system was finally restored. By the time the entire castle was re-energized, it was already dawn of the next day.

Standing in the living room, the engineer had worked through the night, his eyes bloodshot. ”Judging from my experience, it should be equipment aging, Mr. Luo Ke. This kind of thing is very common.”
