I Am Your Natural Enemy

Wen Yan pondered for a moment, opened his phone, searched some keywords, and sure enough, found something similar.

Previously, there were some scam cases where victims went to Nanyang and completely disappeared.

After the events of the Nanyang Union exploded the other day, these ordinary cases also became related data and fell under the Scorching Sun Department’s authority.

When Wen Yan browses through information related to Nanyang every day, he happened to glance at it and specifically looked into it; some related people fled to Nanyang, and people from Nanyang are also in contact with the Scorching Sun Department.

If it were before, Wen Yan could basically be sure that once these people left Divine Land, it would be difficult to catch them back.

But now, there’s constant noise inside the Nanyang Union.

Some of them hope to quickly drag Eastern University down, to help cover up the mess. Such a big incident happened a few days ago; those who didn’t die will have to come out and take the blame.

Plus, those who should know already know that the progress of Spiritual Qi Resurgence continues and is accelerating.

Moreover, the conclusion drawn by the Scorching Sun Department is that the current stage favors Ghosts the most.

This made quite a few people over there feel that it’s time to follow old traditions again, recognize a big brother or even a father if necessary.

But there are also some people particularly afraid that once Divine Land intervenes, their influence will become pervasive, just like before.

A few words in the official history of Divine Land, placed among certain members of the Nanyang Union, would translate into several books summarizing, ”Today he beat me, tomorrow he recruited me as a follower, promised never to beat me again, and even signed a document; indeed he didn’t beat me, but the day after tomorrow, his son beat me again.”

From their perspective, it’s quite normal for emotions to be a bit complex.

So this time, just after Scorching Sun Department had some contact, they mentioned this issue when discussing matters.

No matter which faction they’re from over there, they all feel that they should quickly catch those bastards and send them back.

Currently, it’s said that three people have been captured, and perhaps after a few days, they might catch more and should be handed over to the Scorching Sun Department.

Wen Yan had glanced at it earlier, didn’t remember everything, but remembered the basics, knowing there was such a thing.

Wen Yan looked at his phone, recalling when he was a teenager in Guanzhong County and once saw a school-uniformed girl by the train station, saying she was five yuan short of the fare to get home.

Back then, he hadn’t seen through these tricks, and with only ten yuan in total, he gave her five.

Half an hour later, he saw the girl sitting in a fast-food restaurant on the corner; at the time, Wen Yan didn’t think much of it, couldn’t see clearly through the glass. He was about to leave when he saw the girl finish her meal and return to her original spot, continuing to ask for fare money.

Wen Yan squatted at a distance and watched for twenty minutes, saw the girl make another thirty yuan.

This was a major blow to Wen Yan, who considered himself already earning money and admitted to the university of society; he was still too young.

Back then, he thought that he worked hard every day, climbing mountains late at night to help people conduct funerals; the money he earned might not be as much as those conning others on the street. If they were lucky, they could earn more in an hour than he could overnight, with sore shoulders and arms worn to skin.

Ultimately, due to various reasons at the time, he didn’t confront her.

But now, Wen Yan held his phone, checked the caller ID, and started searching this phone number.

Hmm, no surprise, a virtual number.

No worries, continue to trace.

Not much technical skill required; the Scorching Sun Department app has these built-in features, very convenient, as long as you have access.

Now that the call came to Wen Yan’s phone, either through single-incident access or Wen Yan’s own authority level, it’s already sufficient.

The people using this kind of script have all run away; they’re about to be handed back soon, and yet there’s still someone using it, suggesting there might be some stragglers.

This script is carefully rehearsed and derived from extensive practice, designed to be most suitable.

If someone hangs up after hearing the first few words, those cautious people won’t be targeted again; it’s a waste of time.

Those who finish listening to the conversation and continue chatting are the targets.

Those who could be greedy or fall for the trick via such a call — hey, these are the key targets.

Those people immediately switch from mass outreach mode to key fishing mode.

There’s also direct use of the key fishing mode, but these require gathering a lot of information from the start, creating setups, fake documents, etc., requiring significant investment. For instance, foreign students are specially targeted.

But in any case, this script probably came at the price of many people going to work sewing machines inside, forced out after trials; how could they possibly give it up?

Wen Yan started tracking, quickly receiving feedback.

Good gracious, it’s right in Nanwu County.

How does this guy have such audacity to target him?

His public profile is that of a formal employee at the Funeral Home... Hmm, thinking about it, it might be a stereotype believing that this identity has no social life, might have savings, possibly loves playing cards.

Wen Yan had seen many people working funerals; indeed many loved playing mahjong.

But thinking further, since his start of employment, up till now, his private phone number shouldn’t have been casually leaked.

And his number, he’s only used it for a few months in total.
