I Am Your Natural Enemy

Wen Yan glanced into the distance; now, seeing the situation here, he also felt that not forcing those Lost Souls to dissipate directly was a good choice.

Untraceable, uncertain—that’s what creates deterrence.

He told the Water Ghosts that they could set sail; during the day, he would attend a conference.

He moved a recliner and rested on it. From the huge chimney of the Dahlia, black smoke billowed out, and it started to move slowly.

But this time, no one paid any attention to the Dahlia any longer.

They also realized that, for some reason, the Lost Souls from the Dahlia had already appeared in the Europa region.

Valak, that guy, failed at everything, but he still had some basic abilities. He led those Lost Souls to Europa, claiming revenge, making them startled, and forming an investigation team immediately.

The old accounts unearthed were things from nearly a hundred years ago; even if they are from the same organization, such matters don’t mean much.

They feared that Europa might encounter the same situation as the Nanyang Union; after all, their ancestors committed quite a few dirty deeds.

The Dahlia drifted on the ocean for half a day and reached the destination, the capital of the Nanyang Union.

Upon arrival, the people from the Divine Land immediately came to make contact and led Wen Yan to the conference. On the way, Wen Yan learned that the members were almost all present by last night.

Before the meeting, there was some communication regarding meeting content and speeches. The hosting party adjusted the timeline slightly because his Dahlia hadn’t arrived yet; other activities were held in the morning and the official meeting would occur in the afternoon.

”Do I need to give a speech?” Wen Yan asked, somewhat surprised. He and Yan Zhikong were supposed to be juniors just going through the motions to indicate their stance.

”Originally, there wasn’t any need, but since the Nanyang Union has encountered so many issues recently.

The event organizers have switched, and the representatives from the capital have also changed.

I’ve heard that their internal struggle is fierce.

Last time, when some of our seniors were supposed to come, they showed great respect, didn’t they?

But they used an abstract reason to deny our visas, leaving it to you juniors now. There won’t be any bigwigs coming in the future.

They probably thought there was nothing wrong. But now, they wanted to invite bigwigs from our side—didn’t even pass the word.

The Scorching Sun Department directly responded by saying they wouldn’t interfere with internal affairs. Besides, we initially expressed the desire to provide humanitarian aid; they didn’t accept, so we can’t be blamed.

The person who had speaking rights died from complications of cancer a few days ago, yet everyone knows what really happened.

So now, those in power have different ideas than before.”

Wen Yan contemplated this and understood that the previous people offended others, and the current ones want to mend relations.

”If needed, let Yan Zhikong speak; I won’t go up there. I didn’t prepare anything, why should I give face to them?

Mediation matters belong to the Scorching Sun Department; I’m not part of that department.”

He came purely to show his face; as for other things, why should he give face?

If he did, someone might get the wrong impression, thinking that this is the Divine Land’s softened attitude.

Let things proceed as they will.

At the venue, Wen Yan glanced around and sensed that many people possessed peculiar Power, some obviously Professionals.

It hadn’t officially started yet. With his arrival, quite a few people noticed him.

The Dahlia incident might seem small compared to the Lost Souls affair a few days ago, even if it was not a trivial matter before, and some knew the rumors that the Lost Souls’ matter initially involved Wen Yan.

He found a spot to wait, preparing to chat with Yan Zhikong when a well-dressed man, smiling, approached.

The person accompanying Wen Yan noticed this and immediately whispered an introduction.

”This gentleman is Ji Shanyue, the Deputy Minister of the Oceanic Administration Department from the capital of the Nanyang Union. This department is akin to the Scorching Sun Department of Divine Land.

Though their functions are similar, their authority, budget, personnel, and strength are severely lacking.

Moreover, they can only manage the capital of the Nanyang Union; they cannot extend their reach into other members of the Union, facing obstacles at every turn.

This Deputy Minister is in charge of personnel and actions. Internally, he has significant influence.

Unfortunately, the entire department has very low speaking rights within the Nanyang Union.

Additionally, he is a Professional; specific details are not clear, only heard that his strength is decent.”

With a smile, Ji Shanyue stepped forward, extending his hand before even reaching Wen Yan.

”Mr. Wen, welcome! I’ve been expecting you.”

”Minister Ji, hello.”

”I heard Mr. Wen arrived, so I hurried over. There is still some time before the conference begins; would Mr. Wen mind chatting somewhere?”

Ji Shanyue was direct, seemingly unable to wait for the conference to end, leaving Wen Yan a bit surprised.

”Minister Ji might not know, I’m not from the Scorching Sun Department; many things are beyond my decision.”

”That is excellent. The matter I wish to discuss with Mr. Wen is unrelated to the Scorching Sun Department, just consider it a private conversation.”

Ji Shanyue was very enthusiastic, and since he spoke this way, Wen Yan couldn’t refuse further; besides, the meeting was about to start soon, so the chat wouldn’t last long.

Ji Shanyue guided him to a side hall, getting straight to the point.

”Here’s the situation, Mr. Wen; as you might know, our Oceanic Administration Department is recently preparing to recruit more people.

However, the ability and experience of the new recruits might be somewhat lacking.

Thus, I wish to invite Mr. Wen to be an instructor, helping train the newcomers.”

Wen Yan was a bit surprised and immediately shook his head.

”Minister Ji elevates me too much. I am merely a Martial Artist, my strength average, understanding limited. Inviting me to such a task, I dare not accept; it would harm those newcomers.”

”No, no, no, Mr. Wen is a top disciple of Fuyu Mountain. I heard that Mr. Qin Kun of Fuyu Mountain said your talent exceeds his.

We want Martial Artists; their experience is actually more suitable for newcomers.

The strength of those Taoist priests is indeed great, but their experience is not learnable for our department’s people.

Mr. Wen need not be stationed permanently in the Nanyang Union, just visiting for several days when available, offering training and imparting some experiences.”
