I Am Your Natural Enemy

”Alright, I got it, don’t worry, everything’s fine.”

Hanging up the phone, Wen Yan called the General Director back and reported the current situation.

”That’s pretty much how it is. The guy’s out for revenge; I can’t exactly stop him, can I?

I can’t leave either, so I just took a nap. I’ll wait here, and once it’s done I’ll head back.”

In the Scorching Sun Department, the General Director, who hadn’t slept all night, hung up the phone and let out a long breath.

Hearing Wen Yan’s tone, with that slight hint of flippancy and sardonic edge, he knew everything was basically fine.

He beckoned to his secretary.

”The Qin Banliang I told you to prepare yesterday, is it ready?”

”Time was tight, we only prepared thirteen coins. All of them have been verified as genuine, and they’re from the very first batch of Qin Banliang minted after Great Qin unified the six kingdoms.”

”Good. Seal them up, and have them sent to him.”

”They’ve already arrived at the Southern Sea.”

The General Director nodded. As soon as he got word from Wen Yan about the Qin Banliang, he’d immediately sent people out to collect them.

With the resources of the Scorching Sun Department, they could naturally find quite a few Qin Banliang, but to be safe, tracking down coins from the first batch after unification was another story.

In one day, once they were found and authenticated, they were sent to the Southern Sea at once to make sure they could be used at the fastest possible speed if needed.

The original plan was to just borrow Wen Yan’s shelves, open a window, and toss them straight to Wen Yan, call it a day.

But something went wrong yesterday—when Gan Tang opened the window and went through, he didn’t appear near Wen Yan, but thousands of meters up in the air.

So the window couldn’t be used casually anymore. When he was on the phone with Wen Yan just now, Wen Yan only briefly mentioned that a man-made Doomsday Domain had appeared over there yesterday, where all Professional Ability and anomalies would be suppressed.

Most likely that was the reason.

Better stick to normal methods; more reliable.

The General Director leaned back in his chair, closed his eyes, and dozed for a short while.

Wen Yan had been brawling over there yesterday, but over here in the Divine Land, no one had been idle either. Fuyu Mountain had rarely opened a grand altar, and the tone was very much ”anyone here or not here today, if you dare drag your feet, don’t blame me for hitting too hard.”

It instantly reminded him of what that old man was like when he was young.

Although that old man was known as the most mild-tempered of all the Fuyu Mountain line, when he was young, whenever he made a move, he really did hit viciously.

The ridicule that Fuyu Mountain, one of the Three Mountains and Five Ridges, had to rely on Martial Artists to hold up their reputation did not start with Qin Kun.

Back then, when the progress of Spiritual Qi Resurgence wasn’t as high as it is now, the old man was still young.

At the time there was a case—someone was raising ghosts to harm people, on quite a scale. The old man, a Taoist, disliked how weak and troublesome Daoist Skill was back then, and didn’t want to set up an altar.

So he grabbed a ring-headed great saber brimming with baleful aura and charged into the karst cave where those criminals were hiding, hacking from one end to the other, single-handedly chopping everyone inside, people and Evil Ghosts alike, into pieces.

The General Director felt a bit emotional. Back then he was still very young; he’d been a Field Agent on that operation, as well as the commander for one of the flanks.

At the time he’d been mulling over all kinds of plans in his head on how to crush the criminals hiding in the cave.

But while he was still lying in wait, word came that the people from Fuyu Mountain had already charged in and butchered everyone, ghosts included.

That incident had shocked his younger self tremendously; it was also the starting point of his truly gaining a clear conceptual understanding of Spiritual Qi Resurgence.

It had an enormous impact on his thinking and philosophy as well.

In a blink, he was no longer young. Seeing that the old man still had such robust vigor this time, that same fierce momentum still there when opening the grand altar, the General Director was genuinely pleased.

Any fluctuations of Power from the north yesterday were directly cowed by the Grand Uncle Master’s grand altar. Anyone who’d lived long enough knew that Fuyu Mountain had kept a very low profile for decades, but whenever they did make a move, they always fought to the death.

Back then, the Zombie Cave remained unopened purely because Fuyu Mountain restrained itself for the sake of the long term; it wasn’t because they had no trump cards.

The Old Celestial Master had also stayed up all night yesterday, but before he could do anything, when someone crossed the line, the Lady suddenly intervened—whoever that was, they were definitely miserable.

The General Director opened his eyes and pulled out a tablet. With Wen Yan fighting outside, he was naturally obliged to handle the other matters properly.

The Pawnshop’s infiltration ran deeper than expected.

Yesterday, it wasn’t just the east and west of Nanyang that had issues; the north of Nanyang had problems too. Trying to hide things from the Old Celestial Master, who’d spent the whole night at the cliff in the Cloud Sea, was a bit difficult.

Clean up the ones at home first.

After too many years of peace—just a few decades—and some bastards had already forgotten how to write the words ”smash mountains and cut down temples.”

The General Director tapped on a few documents and sent out notices: meeting in one hour.

At the same time, he invited the Northern Military Region and Western Military Region, asking them to send representatives to attend. It was the end of the year; they might help them clear out some stock and eliminate some hidden dangers.

Of course, Wen Yan knew nothing about any of this. He rummaged through his own bag, fished out something to eat, and filled his stomach a bit.

He continued waiting for the howling boss not far away to finally croak, and for nightfall.

At the same time, on the West Sea’s Coast across the ocean, a plane landed.

A young man with short curls, wearing a straw hat, a body of corded muscle, and sunglasses walked out of the airport.
