I Am Your Natural Enemy

If maritime attacks begin to grow, every voyage will turn into a gamble with our lives.

Do they think Nanyang is the same as the Divine Land?

The Divine Land can rely on land routes; their rail network is expanding rapidly.

They have other options.

But here, without maritime transport, we become isolated islands.

Do they think idle money in the financial market can be eaten?

No, everyone can clearly see the situation.

But they’re reluctant to give up their current rights and interests, unable to take the necessary steps.

This time, many have died, as if receiving their due retribution.”

”But, isn’t this too risky right now? After all, the matter of the gold coins is indeed true, and we can’t predict what happens next.” Ji Shanyue felt uneasy.

”There’s no time left; I’ve received news that the Divine Land has started laying the groundwork to release information about the Spiritual Qi Resurgence.”

”This...” Ji Shanyue was startled, fully understanding what this meant. Unless there was no other choice or delaying further would be completely too late, the Divine Land would not do this.

The intelligence held by the Shenzhou Lieyang Department and their accumulated resources far exceed ours.

”One is a foreseeable bleak future, where even the capital may collapse.

One is an unpredictable, yet hopeful future.

Which do you choose?”

”Minister, I understand.”

Ji Shanyue sighed, his expression complex.

This isn’t baseless worry; this future can realistically be anticipated.

Just three days ago, when everyone’s attention was attracted by those lost souls, in the southern part of the Nanyang Union, an entire small island was leveled.

In the surrounding sea area, a giant beast, previously observed, appeared.

The giant beast stirred up a tsunami, wiping out everything on that small island.

Fortunately, there weren’t many people on that island; someone had purchased it for tourism development, sluggishly proceeding for years. The renovations were nearly finished, and the beach sand had been sieved several times.

Now, everything on it has been flattened by the tsunami.

After assessment, the highest probability is that the giant beast didn’t intentionally destroy everything on that island.

It was either done unconsciously, or the giant beast was battling other beasts in the sea, causing these events.

Anyway, it wasn’t a deliberate target against the island or its people.

Now, these giant beasts possess such abilities, at least two levels stronger than those observed a decade ago.

And according to the current situation, we can confirm that this is definitely not the limit; there will likely be more trouble yet to come.

This incident concerning the island doesn’t even need deliberate suppression of news, as it can’t overshadow the lost souls incident and the heat generated by the unearthed remains.

The vast majority of people are focused on those lost souls, yet the Minister of the Oceanic Administration Department and Ji Shanyue predict that this matter is approaching resolution; those lost souls have likely avenged themselves and won’t suddenly reappear to wreak havoc.

What they need to pay attention to are the potential risks that might emerge afterward.

Shipwrecks, water ghosts, the Dahlia, sea giants, and so on, so many elements make them realize that future dangers primarily come from the sea, not the land.

Recently, in the Nanyang Union, various temples have seen incense burning several times busier than usual; incense and paper money, items prepared by merchants for the New Year, have already run out of stock.

The impact is far-reaching; their power is insufficient, and the most fitting ally to lean on is naturally the northern neighbor.

However, the Oceanic Administration Department fundamentally lacks the authority and influence, only able to use other ways to seek outside help.

The matter of the Tree of Immortality wasn’t their orchestrated drama, and the person who spoke up wasn’t arranged by them.

It was just that when this thing was discovered, the previous organizers didn’t give that person the chance to speak, and after the previous organizers perished, the Oceanic Administration Department took over this mess, granting that person the opportunity to speak.

”Continue to contact those two people from the Divine Land, and actively engage with the Shenzhou Lieyang Department.”

”Okay, I understand.”

Elsewhere, in the hotel room, Wen Yan, holding a phone, reviewed today’s meeting with Ji Shanyue and information about the Oceanic Administration Department.

To claim this department is equivalent to the Lieyang Department is really elevating them.

They truly lack authority, resources, funding; Wen Yan understood why the Nanyang Union was rampant with sorcerers previously and why demons proliferated here.

But now, they’ve dealt a blow to half of the emergent sorcerers, and the lost souls have taken away many who held significant resources and power, compounded by the overwhelming public opinion.

This Oceanic Administration Department finally turns the tide, gaining more resources and funding.

No wonder they dared to offer good conditions, clearly aiming for rapid growth, preparing to spend money to recruit talent.

Whether Wen Yan does work or not is irrelevant; having the title of a Fuyu Mountain disciple is enough.

Borrowing this name, the Oceanic Administration Department can then recruit others with it.

In recruitment pitches, they can say they have the most talented martial artist among the younger generation of Fuyu Mountain’s disciples right here, inviting others to join with guarantees of satisfactory benefits.

Wen Yan looked at the information on his phone and chuckled to himself, realizing that truly, there’s no such thing as a free breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
