I Am Your Natural Enemy

”Sit down and chat, the only thing you can try here is this.

Witch Priest personally pickles and fries the fried chicken, it has a special taste.

You should be able to taste the flavor inside, it’s quite unique, give it a try.”

Wei Jing felt a sense of relaxation upon seeing a familiar face, luckily the person who came was someone he knew, saving a lot of trouble.

Gan Tang’s head was buzzing, after sitting down, she was full of doubt, just a few words made her certain this was not just someone who looked alike, but truly the same person.

”Doctor Wei, how come you...”

”Eat first, let’s chat slowly.”

Gan Tang picked up a piece of fried chicken and looked at it, ordinary and truly no different from the fried chicken she’d seen. Perhaps because it was reheated in the microwave after cooling, its appearance wasn’t great.

She took a bite and tasted the flavor.

If it were any other day, she would surely like it, but today she couldn’t be bothered.

”Doctor Wei, are you a Zombie?”

”No, I’m just a doctor.”

”Then...” Gan Tang hesitated for a moment, but didn’t ask the rest.

It seemed unbelievable to her, because over a thousand years ago, she had seen Wei Jing while she was still alive.

The first time she saw Wei Jing was when he appeared together with Immortal Sun.

At that time Immortal Sun introduced him, saying this was Doctor Wei.

Back then Gan Tang was young, just standing behind watching, but she remembered this young doctor.

According to the customs back then, the titles were Master, Artisan, Scholar; the earliest title for doctors started emerging around then, but wasn’t widely used or known.

And those titled as doctors were top-notch masters in the medical field with skills worthy to establish a school, excelling to the highest level in some aspect.

Even the revered Immortal Sun, the ancestor now worshiped on Medicine King Mountain, introduced him in person, so naturally, no one doubted anything.

Gan Tang remembers she saw Wei Jing three times in total, each leaving a deep impression.

How unexpected it was after over a thousand years, she saw Wei Jing again, and Wei Jing seems to be still alive.

She dared not ask his background anymore, because she thought of the ancient legend about the Elixir of Immortality.

If it involved these, further inquiry would be inappropriate for her.

After all, Doctor Wei once favored her family, not only could she not continue to ask, but now she thought about how to help Doctor Wei hide his identity.

Like Zombies who survived ages through slumber and evolution, regaining consciousness and memory, there might be others.

Wei Jing saw Gan Tang seems a bit nervous, he smiled.

”Don’t think too much, I’m fine here now, I like it here, nobody cares who I am, I’m just a normal neighbor, an ordinary clinic operator.

But you, how did you get here?

Because of Wen Yan?”

Gan Tang nodded.

”Yes, some things I can’t ignore, Wen Yan is the current Scorching Sun, moreover, what’s most important, he’s a good kid, better than the Thirteenth Ancestor of Fuyu.”

Gan Tang briefly explained what happened on the Nanyang Union’s side, Wen Yan is over there with hundreds of thousands of Lost Souls, drawing too much attention, might attract interference.

Wei Jing suddenly understood, he realized the core reason nobody pays him attention here.

Because he is too close to Wen Yan, those eligible to investigate won’t bother checking, those who would check simply don’t have the authority, and they wouldn’t meddle.

Wen Yan asked him to treat patients, it seems he might show up soon, but actually, this is safer.

According to the People of Divine Land’s nature, no Professionals would like others investigating the people around them.

As long as there’s no danger, the higher Wen Yan’s status, the fewer people have the authority to check those associating with him.

And he happens to be not too close, nor too far, there would be no one going to check him.

It’s not offending him but is pointless offending Wen Yan.

Wei Jing figured this out quickly, he looked at Gan Tang and said.

”Then you should go, Nanyang people have complicated feelings towards Divine Land.

I’ve heard, those who have escaped or been exiled from Divine Land.

Either go to Nanyang or cross over to the neighboring Island Country.

These places were seen as relatively minor later threats.

Since they had to go overseas.

Earlier, some went west from Divine Land.

But after that group of Han Envoys messed things up twice, those going west by land became fewer, with no one daring to accept them.”

At this, Wei Jing paused slightly, then continued.

”Does anyone know what role Wen Yan is playing over there?”

”Initially a little bit, then surely not, that’s beyond human capability.”

”So, are the Nanyang people afraid of Wen Yan becoming a Han Envoy or is there someone in Divine Land wanting him to become a Han Envoy?”

Gan Tang pondered this sentence carefully.

At first glance, it seems to ask if someone wants Wen Yan dead?

But thinking a bit deeper, that’s not the feeling, using Han Envoy as a stand-in is indeed more fitting.

”I don’t know, so if needed, I’ll go over, changing Divine Land’s direction might not be bad for me to show up.”

”Then go, there’s a long time ahead.”

”Alright, Doctor Wei, farewell.”
