I Am Your Natural Enemy

This person’s height, weight, approximate age range, gait, and physique are all detailed, but if you can’t see the face, what’s the point.

The data was brought back to the Scorching Sun Department, extracted directly for all useful material, and uploaded instantly. It’s input into the database using existing data as a baseline. If there’s a match, an alert will be issued immediately.

Unless this person has disappeared from the city since last night.

A few minutes later, a piece of information popped up.

There was a suspected target with a match rate of over ninety-eight percent on all conditions.

The field agent opened it for a look; the person was at the Cape of the Sea in Southern Sea County.

Checked the information, Yu State native, went to Southern Sea County for work a year ago, is a potential supervisor, spent most of the past year in Southern Sea County, and returned to Yu State last month with a transaction record at that gold store.

The field agent uploaded the records as per regulations, uploaded the data, and didn’t have to bother with the rest.

Although the case amount isn’t small, such cases are considered low risk at the Scorching Sun Department. We just let the Southern Sea County Scorching Sun Department catch the person. People from the Yu State Scorching Sun Department wouldn’t make a special trip; that would be wasting manpower and money.

According to the existing information, the risk isn’t high, his physical fitness, and power equivalent to ordinary people, the most likely thing is that the key in his hand may be a wondrous item.

After the data was uploaded, the field agent left it at that; he had other cases.

On the other side, Wen Yan was lying on the third deck, enjoying the sea breeze, as the Dahlia moved slowly at a regular speed towards the mainland of Southern Sea.

During the journey, Wen Yan fed the Dahlia twice with the corpse of the giant beast hanging from the Black Sea side.

The benefit of feeding it more is the Dahlia started to heal on its own. Wen Yan would check the other side when he had nothing to do. On the Black Sea side, the Dahlia was also advancing, but nothing was encountered midway.

The whole journey was uneventful, and Wen Yan checked the latest news on his phone.

He logged into that mysterious forum and saw the latest scoop: Valak had arrived in Europa and was already causing trouble there.

This guy somehow learned to raise a banner for avenging the Lost Souls on the Dahlia, and as a Demon God, he immediately garnered some followers. This was undoubtedly Valak’s smoothest beginning in decades.

Wen Yan looked at it and found no follow-ups for now; he was content with watching the spectacle. It wasn’t his business anyway.

While scrolling through the forum, Feng Yao called him.

”What’s up?”

”...” Feng Yao’s hand holding the phone shook a little: ”Bro, I’m begging you, please don’t speak in a local dialect.”

”What’s wrong?”

”Are you about to reach Cape of the Sea? There’s a case; can you handle it on the way?”

”What case?”

”I’ll send you the information; take a look first.”

Wen Yan looked at the materials sent by Feng Yao, and indeed, it was not a difficult case.

Using wondrous items to take shortcuts and commit crimes is a very regular case. Part of the wondrous items in the Scorching Sun Department’s warehouse comes from such cases.

In theory, although this guy escaped quickly, if he is just an ordinary person, he should be easy to catch, right?

No matter how lacking in manpower the Southern Sea County Scorching Sun Department is, it shouldn’t be short of hands, and it certainly wouldn’t be lacking in strength.

”Besides these materials, is there any other information? If that’s all, the priority shouldn’t be high enough for you to call me specifically and ask me to go, right?”

”Remember the intelligence you provided yesterday? The giant beast you took down in the Southern Sea waters.”

”Yes, and then?”

”Did you check out the theory I told you about?”

”I did. This expert is very insightful and quite reliable, but such things can’t be fully verified.”

”From last night’s call until now, up to this moment.

Among the cases the Scorching Sun Department directly intervened in or transferred to it.

There are as many as one hundred and twenty-eight cases, sharing a commonality.

The suspects in the cases are very similar to the suspect in the case I just gave you.

Some have abilities, while others have obtained wondrous items.

The particularity in your case is, this suspect can open a door and complete a spatial leap through it.”

”Hold on, one hundred and twenty-eight theft cases? Is that many or few?”

”It’s not one hundred and twenty-eight theft cases, but events or cases where a similar commonality appeared.

In some, the divorcing party sneaked into the partner’s house with suddenly gained abilities, took the child, and got caught quickly.

In another, a pervert entered to steal underwear and thought the victim was awake when they merely turned over, tried to knock them out, hadn’t expected to awaken them, and got beaten up.

In yet another, an employee tried to steal confidential documents from the company safe with a phony code breaker a shady dealer sold him, cracking the code in five seconds.

Then there are ordinary theft cases.

In some cases, the thief reeked so badly it woke the people up.

In others, the thief assumed no one was home and was surprised by a shut-in who hadn’t left home for a month.

All cases have a common element, opening a door.
