Chapter 1397: Chapter 144 Enchantment (Part 2)

”The small dog with yellow and white spotted fur, body length 40 to 50 centimeters, of uncertain breed, suspected to be a mixed breed. Good at imitating cat meows. Due to special reasons, its fur appears hazy, thus it looks gray and dusty to the eye.”

”It is highly intelligent and alert, able to discern the danger level of wizards. It possesses magic abilities, capable of moving freely around big wizards, and can selectively reveal its existence to different wizards, with a meme effect similar to [SCP-1499] (Note ①). It is conjectured that the dog has space and shadow or other special talents.”

”It was first observed on the ’Cat Fruit Tree’ at Jiuyou Academy, and has a good relationship with the cat group. Later, for unknown reasons, it persistently pursued you, akin to the meme effect of [SCP- Pursuing Snail] (Note ②), but the dog has shown no sign of aggressive hostility.”

”Given the above situations, are there any additions?”

After hearing Su Shijun’s summary, Zheng Qing immediately shook his head. Everything he could say had already been said. Su Shijun’s summary was very detailed, even more than his own understanding—such as the concept of SCP’s pursuing snail, of which he wasn’t clear on the specifics.

”So, the next question, about the dog’s pattern of appearance.” The witch put down the feather pen, stretched her arms, and let out a comfortable sigh, ”Based on past experiences, the little dog always seems to appear when you least expect it, in places unnoticed by others, yet just within the corner of your field of vision... except for Su Ya.”

Hearing her name, Su Ya quickly straightened her back, seemingly to appear more serious.

However, her small stature somewhat undermined this effort.

”Su Ya, how did you discover the little dog?” the owner of the office asked amiably.

Su Ya immediately forgot the rules she should abide by as a maid, subconsciously raised her hand, bit her finger, furrowed her brows, and tried hard to recall the previous scene, then replied:

”...It just crawled out from behind that flower pot, glared at me... then, I thought I couldn’t let down my lady’s dignity, so I glared back... which scared it behind the pot again... then it crawled out from the other side and glared at me again... to be fair, I also crawled out from the other side of Sister Su Man and glared back at it... that’s how it happened.”

Her explanation used a series of ’then’s, fully showing Little Fox Lady’s limited vocabulary. Even exhausting Zheng Qing’s logical thinking, he couldn’t understand why Su Ya would choose to keep crawling around and ’equivalently’ glare back at the little dog. He was quite suspicious that the Little Fox Lady had used ChunQiu style of writing in her description, exchanging her own identity with that of the dog.

In other words, it was her that was glared at by the dog and scurried to and fro.

Of course, this description did not affect everyone’s reconstruction of the facts, and Zheng Qing generously did not point out this on the spot.

A more important reason was that as Su Ya continued her reply, two fluffy little fox ears stealthily emerged from her hair, resembling two fuzzy hair clips, trembling slightly, making Zheng Qing want to reach out and pinch them.

But because Councillor Su was just a few steps away, he ultimately suppressed the restlessness in his heart.

Cat paws would get chopped off.

”That being said,” Su Shijun nodded slightly after listening to the maid’s rambling answer: ”Since that’s the case... everyone just do what you need to do. Su Ya, you can help check for any bugs in those flower pots and catch them out... and you, did you bring your review questions? Sit over by the coffee table and work on them.”

Zheng Qing was slightly stunned, honestly taking out his final term exercises from the Grey Cloth Bag and sitting by the coffee table to do his homework. Su Shijun’s approach was very simple and rather brute-force. Since the dog was relentless in pursuing him, it would sooner or later show its tail again.

The more normally everyone behaved, the higher the likelihood the dog’s tail would appear.

As for the owner of the office, after arranging tasks for everyone else, she picked up the feather pen once again and began to doodle on the experiment reports that Su Man, the head housemaid, had just submitted.

From beginning to end, her law book lay open beside her, its pages emitting a faint bluish glow.

That glow gave Zheng Qing full confidence.

Theoretically, full confidence should lead to a great sense of security and allow one to focus intently on the task at hand. Most of the time, that is indeed the case. However, when theory meets practice, there are always some minor discrepancies.

On the coffee table in front of Zheng Qing was Professor Emma’s magic script translation assignment, which was to re-translate a certain document once issued by the Mage Alliance into magic script.

This was an exceedingly tedious assignment.

While translating, Zheng Qing felt inexplicably restless. Soon, his peripheral vision caught the source of his ’restlessness’—it was Su Ya, squatting in front of a flower pot, her eyes wide as she searched for bugs.

Because she was squatting, the little fox lady’s tail involuntarily drooped, with about half a foot of its tip peeking out from beneath her skirt. Pulled by gravity, it seemed to want to touch the ground, but just as it was about to make contact, the tip would spring back up and tuck itself back under the skirt.

Like an impatient fishing float.

Speaking of which, most fishing floats have this sort of fuzzy appearance too.

Zheng Qing’s mind wandered to these thoughts, yet his eyes subconsciously followed that ’fox tail float,’ bobbing up and down, rising and falling, losing his ability to think about reality under the theory of Titty Tainment.

Then Gouzi stuck out half of its head.

This time, it appeared behind Su Ya, in the shadows of Su Shijun’s desk, crouching just in front of the young wizard, happily sticking out its tongue, and its tail flapping left and right like a duster.

Caught up in watching the tip of Su Ya’s tail, it took Zheng Qing a while to realize what was happening even though Gouzi had been wagging its tail in front of him.

His pupils shrank slightly, and just as the thought ’Gouzi’ surfaced in his mind, he heard Su Shijun’s clear voice from behind the desk: ”Ge Li lei lei zhi!”

This was an advanced form of the Binding Spell.

Four slender, phantom bluish vines appeared in the air, agilely and swiftly wrapping around Gouzi’s limbs. With a pull and a tug, Gouzi’s belly was firmly stuck to the floor. At the same time, several dark green tendrils emerged from the floor, coiling around Gouzi’s rounded body layer by layer.

In the blink of an eye, it was bound like a Tesla coil.

Unlike an ordinary Binding Spell, a high-tier Binding Spell could not only bind physical bodies but also bind shadows, illusions, and certain forms of magic with special escape abilities. It was frequently used even in direct confrontations among Big Wizards. It can be said that a Big Wizard using this spell to catch Gouzi was already giving it a lot of face.

Gouzi, caught by the spell and thumped onto the floor, shifted between corporeal and incorporeal forms several times but failed to break free, leaving it stunned for a few seconds, and the tongue it had been sticking out retracted back into its mouth.
