High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1390: Chapter 137: 3 Pairs of Eyes

To put it in the words that Xin Fat Man summarized afterwards, Zheng Qing’s scream was like a witch being molested by a Fishman from Lin Zhong Lake, almost piercing through the dormitory roof.

Zheng Qing completely disagreed with this statement.

He admitted that he was a bit excited when he first saw those three pairs of greasy green eyes. That’s all. His voice was definitely much rougher than a witch’s.

But he couldn’t deny that his scream was indeed a little too loud, so much so that he startled himself and immediately shut up after he shrieked.

”It’s not my fault,” the young cost student said in defense, holding a pillow and sitting on his bed, while being interrogated by his companions: ”Think about it, waking up from sleep, opening your eyes, and suddenly seeing three pairs of greasy green eyes in the pitch-dark room... It’s really scary, okay?”

”What’s there to be afraid of? Ghosts? Demons? Or wild beasts? You are a wizard, you should be used to these kinds of things.” Xiao Xiao held a notebook in his arms, his pen held upside down and his glasses askew: ”The scariest demon eyes are red... what’s so terrifying about a few pairs of green eyes!”

Zheng Qing sighed deeply.

This was the biggest difference between him and the wizards who grew up in The Magical World. Even if he learned all the common knowledge from books, it was hard to change the living habits of the ordinary world he had been in for over a decade.

”If you’re scared, you’re scared, there’s no need for so many reasons...” Xin Fat Man crossed his arms, wearing a nightcap, his eyes slightly bewildered and yawning.

”Your performance wasn’t much better than mine,” Zheng Qing said blankly, glancing at Fat Man.

Xin Fat Man shrank deeper into his bed, pretending not to hear this remark.

After being startled by Zheng Qing’s scream, the others in the dormitory also noticed the unexpected visitors—among the three pairs of greasy green eyes was the one that belonged to the Gouzi from underneath the Cat Fruit Tree.

Following closely after Zheng Qing, the first to react was Xin Fat Man.

”Hey!”

At that moment, Fat Man slapped the bed mightily, making a threatening noise. Even though he was across half the dormitory, Zheng Qing still noticed his face turning a shade of blue—that’s why the young cost student felt bold enough to mock Fat Man’s reaction.

The little dog tucked its tail and ’whooshed’ away, disappearing on top of the desk after being intimidated.

The whole process lasted less than half a minute.

By the time Zheng Qing came to his senses, only the owners of the other two pairs of green eyes remained in the dormitory.

One of them was Fatty Cat Tuan Tuan.

The other was Mister Blood Werewolf of dormitory 403.

Throughout the entire event, Fatty Cat cradled its paws, looking confused at the several young wizards making a fuss, not understanding why they were so agitated.

Was it just a Gouzi extra in the dormitory—when someone in the room turned into a cat before, no one was so panicked. Could it be that cats and dogs have different statuses in the hearts of wizards? Do wizards find Gouzi more terrifying?

”So... can I go now?” Dylan, holding his Law book, cautiously interjected to ask: ”I mean, since there’s nothing going on... can I leave?”

”Where are you going?”

”I’m going to class.” Dylan pointed to the dark night outside the window, looking puzzled: ”Have you all been sleeping confused? Normally, I have night classes!”

Zheng Qing stared at the textbook in Dylan’s hand, and after a while, his slightly foggy mind reacted that Mister Blood Werewolf’s schedule was different from theirs. He had classes at night and rested during the day.

”How did it get in?” Xiao Xiao’s slightly hoarse voice rang out once more.

Zheng Qing glanced over to see that Doctor Xiao had already spread out his notebook, with the feather pen correctly grasped in hand, and his glasses had also been straightened on his face.

”The window was shut tight, not even a breeze could get through,” Xin Fat Man yawned lazily as he answered.

”The warning talisman didn’t react,” Zheng Qing glanced at the talisman paper hanging by the bed.

The three then turned their eyes toward Dylan simultaneously.

”Who?” Dylan looked around and, with a dawning realization, said, ”You mean that little dog? I don’t know... When I climbed out of the coffin, that Gouzi was squatting on the desk... I thought it was a friend of Tuan Tuan... It even wagged its tail at me.”

Fat Cat ’meowed’ loudly and lazily shook its head.

Meaning, it didn’t recognize that Gouzi either.

”That dog wags its tail at everyone,” Zheng Qing tugged the corner of his mouth.

”Is there something wrong with that dog?” After Dylan posed the question, he immediately shook his head, ”Even if there was an issue, it’s just a dog... Why have you all become so timid, scared out of your wits by a little dog...”

Zheng Qing opened his mouth but found that he couldn’t actually refute Dylan’s words.

Although the dog had moved in a strange manner and its origins were unknown, it was indeed just a small dog. From beginning to end, it had not shown any threat beyond that of an ordinary dog.

After a while, the young cost student found a thought and awkwardly changed the subject.

”I can accept that cats and dogs have shiny green eyes... but why are yours green too?” Zheng Qing glanced at the Fat Cat squatting on the desk, and then turned to Dylan, complaining, ”If I remember correctly, Matthew’s eyes flash red in the dark, right?”

”Vampires do indeed have a dark red color, but as for me, they can be red or green, all depending on my mood,” Dylan replied nonchalantly, baring his teeth in front of the mirror and checking his little fangs, ”When I’m in a good mood, they might be green; when I feel terrible, they might change to red... just like how some people’s eyes turn completely red when they are angry.”

”Alright, alright,” Banna yawned and tugged down his sleeping cap before collapsing back into bed, muttering, ”Since the little dog ran off, let’s not dwell on this further... We can discuss it tomorrow... Let’s not delay Dylan from attending his classes.”

As soon as the words were out, the snoring of the Fat Man could be heard.

On the other side, Dylan also waved at Zheng Qing, and left the dorm room like a whisk of wind.

Zheng Qing looked around; Fatty Cat Tuan Tuan had hopped onto Fat Man’s bed, squeezing onto the same pillow and starting to snore; Doctor Xiao’s face was covered with the notebook, one hand holding the feather pen loosely, and one leg dangling off the bed, unclear if he was awake or asleep.

Small Sprites, holding warm towels and a cup of warm tea, fluttered their wings weakly, waiting beside the young cost student. Despite being very sleepy, they were as professional as ever.

”Not even as good as the Sprites,” Zheng Qing complained softly twice, not specifying at whom, then waved at the Sprites to hurry off to rest, ”It’s late... you should go to sleep too, I’m going to bed.”

The Sprites scattered in a flash and disappeared completely.

Zheng Qing pulled down the bed curtains again and lay in bed.

Tossing and turning.

For a long while, he was filled with fear and trepidation.

He didn’t even know when he had fallen asleep.
