High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1356: Chapter 103: The Pheasant on the Cutting Board

Wilbur Watley was a strange Wizard walking between secrecy and reality, with the visage of a goat, coarse and curly hair, pale yellow skin, and tentacles and a tail on his lower body.

Of course, compared to his bizarre appearance, he was more widely known for the brand in his bloodline—it was said his father was Yog-Sothoth, one of the strongest Outer Gods in the Deeps of the Starry Sky.

The most famous title of Yog-Sothoth was ’Omniscient,’ and although it may seem a bit exaggerated to wizards of legend or higher, for ordinary people and low-level wizards, this title was indeed accurate without any exaggeration.

It was indeed surprising that the Rat Immortal could take out a Magic Potion formulated by Wilbur.

”Does it contain Wilbur’s blood?” The Wandering Wizard asked with interest, staring at the ’eyeball-like’ bubbles on the bottle’s glass walls, whispering, ”It is said he was bitten by a pack of rabid dogs; there is no residual poison in his blood, right...?”

”It’s the blood of Wilbur’s brother,” corrected the Rat Immortal. ”Wilbur just used the ancient notes passed down by the Watley Family to formulate this Potion. I paid a great price to get it... but that’s not the point... are you going to use it or not?”

It was clear from the last sentence that it was getting a little annoyed.

The other three Wizards immediately agreed without objection, taking the slim-necked bottle and each placed a drop of the Magic Potion on their eyelids.

Looking around once more, the whole world had changed.

The originally cold and dry high-mountain climate vanished in an instant. The sky above turned dim, the afterglow of the setting sun blood red, as if fresh blood was surging in the horizon.

Some fragile dimensions collapsed in such an environment.

Fleeting glimmers, fragmented snippets slid past the wizards in front, and no one tried to reach out to capture those images. Everyone knew those were the last echoes left by the fragmentation of dimensions.

Opposite the crowd.

The towering mountains still stood firm, but they were no longer silent. The thick belly of the mountains conveyed ominous chanting and rumbling sounds that were highly unnatural, making one uncomfortable.

The Giant Skeleton leaning against the mountain was perhaps the only presence in this World that hadn’t changed much. Even so, its left hand was drastically different from before.

After changing their perspective, they finally saw a very thin black thread emerging from the void, tied to the finger bones of ’Giant Zero Three.’ Starting from the tail bone to the ring finger, it was extending to the other bones.

The pulsation of life came along the thread, allowing the once-silenced Giant to regain its restless power.

Everyone stared at that thread.

After a long while, the Wandering Wizard was the first to speak, ”I heard in the shop... recently, many school children have taken a liking to drinking goat’s milk. I thought it was an accident at first. But now it seems, things are much more complicated than what I’ve heard.”

”Last weekend, Korma expelled a shadow in the North District,” the Rat Immortal also added. ”It’s said to be a Northern District Wizard who lost control and was possessed by an unknown entity... that shadow had dozens of wildly dancing tentacles, a gigantic flesh block like dark clouds, and a large dripping maw.”

”The young prodigy who grew up on Pedestrian Street lost a Black Mountain Goat.”

Fei Rui instinctively looked up at the sky.

The darkening clouds above seemed to be becoming more like flesh blocks as the Rat Immortal had described.

He rubbed his little paws and finally spoke the forbidden name, ”Is it truly He... Nicolas...?”

”The Mountain Goat of the Forest that breeds thousands of offspring?” Terri Duzem finally understood what the seniors meant, frowning deeply: ”Why would such an existence involve itself in such trivial matters?”

For the vast majority of wizards in the Wizard World, an incident involving a large number of top Registered wizards, many Big Wizards, as well as demons and Elves, was undoubtedly a major event.

But to those legendary beings residing in the Deeps of Starry Sky, it was merely child’s play.

”They probably think it’s funny, want to play a little joke on us?” The Wandering Wizard gave a dry chuckle.

”Joke? There’s no such word as humor in heaven... They don’t need reasons to do what they do.” Rat Immortal pinched the handrail of the agarwood sedan chair, his voice lowering significantly: ”To them, whether they want to do something or not, no reason is needed...”

Everyone fell into silence after this answer.

A cold breeze blew over the stone platform located halfway up the mountain again. Fei Rui blinked his small eyes, not knowing when the dark clouds above had dissipated again, painting a golden edge on the horizon with the leftover sunlight. The mountain quieted down once more, and the unsettling thin black line on the left hand of the Giant Skeletons also disappeared from sight.

It touched its eyelid.

The effect of the Potion had faded.

”Maybe,” the shortest member hesitated, raising a claw to suggest: ”Maybe we should ask the school to deal with this...”

”School?” Terri Duzem yelled like a cat whose tail had been stepped on: ”You want the school to know that I’ve defied the ban and re-crafted a ’Man-made God’? I’ll be thrown into Black Prison!!”

The Wandering Wizard also glanced at the little mouse at his feet.

”It reminds me of a chicken I killed when I was young.” The Elder Wizard spoke with a nostalgic tone: ”Do you know? When that chicken felt its head being placed on the chopping block, it actually stretched its neck even longer... Maybe it’s just their instinct. But it made it easier for me to chop off its head. You’re just like that chicken on the chopping block right now.”

Fei Rui touched the back of his neck, muttering: ”...But my neck is very short. It can’t stretch.”

The joke was cold.

Rat Immortal was holding a wine bottle, unknowingly having bitten off the cork, he took several gulps for himself before sighing: ”Sense of humor... is not a pleasant word.”

The Wandering Wizard’s face changed drastically. He rummaged through his pockets, then with a dark face, looked at the wine bottle in Rat Immortal’s hand: ”When did you steal it?”

”Sense of humor!” Rat Immortal lifted the wine bottle, without answering the Wandering Wizard, but sighed heavily again: ”As Mark Twain once said... Humor comes from sorrow, not joy, there is no humor in heaven.”

”I had no intention of telling the school about ’Giant Zero Three.’” Fei Rui also raised his little paw, adding to his suggestion: ”My meaning is... we could help spread the word of ’that individual’s’ existence, and let the school give priority to getting rid of this trouble... The school has the ability to make Them stay away from this World.”

Terri Duzem’s eyes suddenly lit up.

The Wandering Wizard was grinning, tugging at the brim of his pointed hat, showing his interest in the suggestion.

The wizards blew cold wind on the boulder halfway up the mountain for quite some time, until the sun had completely vanished from the sky, and the moon began to paint the snow-capped mountain tops. The Sprites on the arch regained consciousness from their sleep.

They rubbed their eyes, emerged from the olive and laurel leaves, amidst a song of praise, made the archway grow larger.

Four figures disappeared into the archway one after another.

Leaving only a few pieces of broken conversation drifting with the wind.

”Doctor, why did you give it the name ’Giant Zero Three’?”

”Giant, stands for something immense... bigger than ’big’, but not yet a ’Legend’... Zero Three is self-explanatory, it’s a code...”

”Typical style of an Alchemist indeed...”

”So, does that mean before Giant Zero Three, there were Giant Zero One, Giant Zero Two... possibly even Giant Zero Zero?”

”Shut up! That’s part of the silence clause! Not something you’re supposed to know!!”
