High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1355: Chapter 102: Moved Again

The Wandering Wizard was not the last to arrive.

After him, Dr. Terry Duzem hurriedly arrived at the scene, but he was not restricted by the narrow archway like the Wandering Wizard. Instead, the archway considerately expanded several sizes to accommodate his much larger body than the mice.

Little angels on the archway also popped out from vines and leaves, waving and screaming at Dr. Duzem.

”This is discrimination!” the Wandering Wizard said with a tone of dissatisfaction, complaining to the two mice: ”I am your partner too!”

”You are only one of the representatives of the partners,” Fei Rui pointed out the subtle difference: ”...and you are not the President of the Dark Council.”

This remark successfully stifled any further attempts the Wandering Wizard had to argue.

Dr. Duzem also noticed the uninvited guest at the scene, but he didn’t mind, just curiously glanced at the bottle and cup the Wandering Wizard was holding.

”Why did you bring wine?” he greeted politely.

The Wandering Wizard restrained a smile: ”I heard your experiment was successful... this is to celebrate. Hmm, it seems I’ve brought one less cup, but never mind, I can drink from the bottle.”

The doctor shook his head: ”You’re celebrating too soon.”

Beside them, the Rat Immortal who had been observing ’Giant Zero Three’ finally tapped the agarwood carriage he was seated on, turned around, and looked at Dr. Duzem: ”It won’t cause you any trouble having you come over suddenly, will it?”

”Don’t worry, I’ve arranged a Righteous Body to conduct experiments in the study, and Constantin is helping... The school won’t notice anything unusual,” the doctor briefly explained, then turned his head to look at the Giant Skeletons leaning against the mountain, his face showing a trace of confusion: ”The question is, why did it suddenly move?”

”Doesn’t this mean your creation is a success?” the Wandering Wizard finally sensed that something was off and raised his eyebrows.

”No, it’s not time yet,” while speaking, Dr. Duzem took out a palm-sized, blood-red stone from his pocket, showcased it in front of everyone for a moment, and then put it away: ”I haven’t installed this Philosopher’s Stone yet... Without a power source, how could it move?”

The Wandering Wizard was speechless.

This was indeed very unusual.

”Could it be a false alarm?” the Wandering Wizard looked around, trying to find a more reasonable explanation: ”I mean, maybe the wizard monitoring ’Giant Zero Three’ had blurred vision, mistaking a mirage in the mountains for a finger twitch...”

In the mountains, there are Earth Dragons, who feed on dew and breathe out mirages. The mirages turn into colorful scenes, perceived as real by mortals, leading to rumors of many divine residences in the mountains. Oftentimes, even wizards make mistakes in seeing, which is not a matter of eyesight, but of the state of mind.

”If it were anywhere else, this hypothesis might be highly plausible,” the Rat Immortal glanced at the bottle held by the Wandering Wizard, swallowing a gulp of saliva: ”...but not here. The atmosphere enveloped by that dead Titan’s remains, not to mention Earth Dragons, even Sky Dragons wouldn’t want to stay in such a place. Let alone let them comfortably emit mirages.”

Drace Class and Giants have always been arch-enemies, similar to Vampires and Werewolves.

Just as Vampires are particularly disgusted by the foul smell of Werewolves, Drace Class also finds it hard to tolerate the aura exuded by Giants.

Meanwhile, Fei Rui jumped up from the ground and punched the Wandering Wizard in the knee.

”The wizard you mentioned as ’having blurred vision’ is none other than I!” it shrieked sharply, visibly annoyed: ”I am much younger than you! I’m not to the point of having blurred old eyes! Or do you think I can’t distinguish between a mirage and reality?”

”Sorry, sorry, I was just proposing a possibility,” the Wandering Wizard insincerely apologized while putting away the wine bottle and cup in his arms.

In this situation, bringing up anything about ’celebration’ would be rather inappropriate.

”Is corpse transformation possible? Or maybe some kind of spell related to spirits?” Rat Immortal asked quietly, putting forth another conjecture to Terry Duzem. There weren’t many spells capable of making dead bones move; corpse transformation was among the simplest and most direct.

Doctor Duzem frowned and fixed his gaze on the giant skeleton without responding immediately.

Indeed, when he was altering the corpse of the titan, he used some spells involving death. Those spells mainly served to protect the bones and restrain the spiritual machine. They certainly shouldn’t have caused corpse transformation.

But if it really related to necromancy, things would consequently get quite tricky.

Transforming a titan’s remains into a ’divine spirit’ would perhaps infuriate the giants, making them spew out a few mouthfuls of scorn. However, defiling the remains of the titans with necromancy? That was something only a fallen wizard would do, and Danghag would not let him off the hook easily.

There exists a very delicate red line here.

Terry Duzem must ensure everything he does remains within safe boundaries. He was not a member of the Dark Council, nor did he plan to become a fallen wizard.

”Crack...”

A faint yet distinctly clear sound came from the opposite mountaintop, causing all four wizards to stop speaking altogether and shift their focus to the titan’s left hand clinging to the giant rocks.

Its fingers twitched again.

As Fei Rui stated earlier, the ring finger and the pinky of the left hand slightly tightened their joints—a movement resembling a reflexive response, only it was too subtle to be noticed unless there was a significant difference in size.

A chilly breeze swept across the mountainside, bringing a hint of cold air.

Fei Rui couldn’t help but shiver, stroking the soft down on his belly.

”It’s not corpse transformation,” declared Doctor Duzem quickly, while also sighing in relief, ”...and it has nothing to do with necromancy either.”

”It’s really not a mirage!” Fei Rui emphasized again.

Rat Immortal stayed silent, his face growing more wrinkled, hiding his thoughts.

The Wandering Wizard also showed a careful expression.

After a long while.

Rat Immortal turned to look around, finally fixing his gaze on the Wandering Wizard, ”Did you see that?”

”I didn’t see it, but I felt a little,” the Wandering Wizard adjusted the brim of his pointy hat, pointing slightly upwards, ”... the aura up there.”

Fei Rui followed the direction pointed by the Wandering Wizard and looked up.

Above was a thick layer of dull, gray clouds, with the residual glow of the sunset still lingering on the edges, framing it with a beautiful golden outline.

”What?” he squinted his little eyes, revealing a hint of confusion.

Rat Immortal struggled to lift his paw, reaching into his long robe’s pocket, fumbled around for a while, and pulled out a slender-necked bottle filled with a light-yellow liquid that had oval-shaped bubbles gurgling inside. These bubbles contained a dot of pitch-black, resembling eyeballs contracting.

The bubbles gathering on the glass wall of the slender-necked bottle looked like stacked eyeballs, giving an oppressive and nauseating feeling.

”This is a magic potion left by Wilbur Waterley, made with the blood of their kind,” Rat Immoral dripped a drop and smeared it on his eyelid, ”It grants you the temporary ’Eye of Truth’... Even legends wouldn’t see more than what we can.”
