High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1387: Chapter 134 Korma’s Plan

Gouzi’s disappearance, although puzzling for the two young wizards, did not overly preoccupy them.

Compared to that, the strange wizard who secretly climbed the Cat Fruit Tree and tampered with the throne of the Black Cat, was more worrying. After thoroughly checking the branches and confirming Gouzi’s disappearance, Zheng Qing and Jiang Yu turned their attention to the throne.

However, after a careful inspection, the two were surprised to find that there were no malicious curses or dangerous arrays on the throne as expected. It was merely smeared with a layer of Cat Fruit Juice.

Unripe Cat Fruits are ginger-yellow, and are one of the ingredients for making Soothing agents; fully ripe Cat Fruits turn purple-black, are highly toxic, and can cause severe intestinal damage and corrode souls.

And the Cat Fruits that are between unripe and ripe are red.

They are poisonous, but mildly so; they can be used for medicine, but have limited uses. Overall, this stage of Cat Fruit is like a seventeen or eighteen-year-old young person, lacking the naivety and liveliness of youth, as well as the slick sophistication of adults, constantly embodying the connotation of the word ’contradiction’.

”This bit of Cat Fruit Juice can at most give a cat lying on it diarrhea for a day.” Zheng Qing shook the test tube, watching the small dot of red slowly bloom in the semi-transparent reagent, baffled: ”Did that guy climb up and down just to make a cat have diarrhea?”

”It’s not just one cat.” Jiang Yu corrected.

Then, she seemed to realize that her wording was a bit subtle, a blush surfaced on her face, and after a light cough, she added: ”What I mean is... you are a wizard, he was deliberately attacking a student at the First University. We should report this to the school.”

Zheng Qing thought of the weary expressions of the duty wizards in the School Works Committee office, and his mouth corners drooped.

”The School Works Committee won’t care about such trifles... especially since it seems more like a prank.” He sighed, his tone filled with resentment: ”Reporting to the school, other than being required to fill out a dozen forms of different formats and explanatory materials, won’t have any other effect. They are not even willing to make a little effort to help Lin Guo find his Black Mountain Goat!”

The witch nodded in agreement, sighing as well.

”Anyway,” Zheng Qing stretched out his hand to pour the liquid in the test tube onto a bush outside the blanket, while perking up a bit, reminding: ”...from now on, unless we find that strange wizard and figure out his reasons, we absolutely cannot climb the Cat Fruit Tree again!”

”It’s better not to come here casually anymore... I mean after you transform.” Jiang Yu added, taking the cleaned test tube from Zheng Qing and putting it back in her purse.

Zheng Qing pulled out his pocket watch, checked the time, and raised his eyebrows.

”Uh... it’s half an hour until the class meeting starts.” He looked at the witch: ”Shall we go directly to the classroom?”

Jiang Yu looked up through a sparse canopy, glanced at the sky outside the forest: ”It gets dark really late nowadays... Last year, it was already dark when we had our class meetings. It’s still so bright now.”

While talking, she had already lowered her head, began packing up the miscellaneous Magic Materials on the blanket. Including the unused Talisman paper, jade ornaments for constructing basic Protective Barriers, dishes of prepared Cinnabar ink, glass bottles used for Magic Potions and reagents, and several reference books for consulting information at any time.

Zheng Qing nodded in agreement, helping the witch to pack up the items on the blanket.

Suddenly, a light ”huh” was heard by his ear.

He looked up at the witch.

”What about those few dog hairs?” Jiang Yu held an empty test tube in his hand, his tone filled with surprise.

Previously, when feeding the dog a magic potion to expel toxins and ward off evil, the witch conveniently plucked a few short hairs from its head and stuffed them into the glass test tube, planning to take them back to the laboratory for testing.

But just now, as she was packing up, she discovered the dog hairs in the test tube were gone.

”Are you sure it’s this test tube?” Zheng Qing’s gaze searched the carpet for other glass tubes, trying to find other possibilities.

”This is the only test tube sealed with a cork stopper.” The witch showed Zheng Qing the cork stopper—still obediently staying at the mouth of the tube—she emphasized, ”It’s been by my side the whole time... nothing inside could have fallen out!”

This was yet another baffling matter.

Head-scratching as it was, the two young wizards wouldn’t waste more time under the Cat Fruit Tree.

On their way back to the classroom, Zheng Qing and Jiang Yu discussed a series of questions related to the identity of that unfamiliar wizard, where Gouzi had gone, and what happened to the dog hairs in the test tube, but they did not come up with more valuable speculations.

Perhaps these questions should be left to Xiao Xiao.

Zheng Qing thought distractedly about these matters, following Jiang Yu into the classroom, and was immediately greeted by the noisy jeering of their classmates. The witch hurried to her seat with her head down, while the male wizard stood frozen on the spot for a few seconds, only remembering the situation when he had left the study room causing some panic in his steps. In his haste, he almost stepped on a small green frog that was hopping around.

”Be careful!” Nicolas shouted, holding his bamboo basket, ”Watch your feet... help me catch that frog back, thank you!”

The timing of this request couldn’t be more perfect.

Zheng Qing quickly crouched down, trying hard to catch the little frog, and after a long while of chasing it from the classroom door back into Nicolas’s bamboo basket at the back of the room, the young scholarship student finally breathed a sigh of relief, quietly standing up.

He had finally avoided most of the classmates’ gaze.

”You should tie a few strings around their legs.” Zheng Qing cautiously surveyed the atmosphere around his seat while perfunctorily suggesting to Nicolas, ”Though their brains are the size of peas, they are still creatures... the death scent on your bamboo basket is too strong, it makes them instinctively want to escape.”

”It’s just for temporary use.” Nicolas chuckled as he closed the bamboo basket, ”Korma the Wise is studying a type of Alchemy gemstone, reportedly referencing the Philosopher’s Stone’s craftsmanship, capable of materializing vitality... this way, we won’t need to bring a bunch of frogs when using magic in the future.”

It sounded like a good plan.

”Can she get the craftsmanship of the Philosopher’s Stone?” Zheng Qing expressed his skepticism. As one of the pinnacle products of magic alchemy, the Philosopher’s Stone’s production method had always been jealously guarded by various wizarding powers, and even the finished products rarely appeared in the market, let alone the production method.

”She definitely can.” Nicolas’s eyes revealed a hint of fanaticism, his expression resolute, ”The Great Sage can change the destiny of the Northern District Wizards which even the Alliance cannot change, what can’t she do? We believe in her, more than those false believers of Atlas.”

Zheng Qing looked into his eyes, a flicker of unease quietly crossing his mind.
