Chapter 1240: Chapter 302 Northern District Wizard

As the gray-robed female trickster was preparing to chant the spell, Korma reached out her hand, pressed it on the Law book, covering the spell formula on the book page, and stopped her from continuing to chant.

Katherine turned her head back in confusion and glanced at the owner of Jini Cottage.

Unlike before, there was no hint of scheming or hesitation in her eyes now, only full of reverence and admiration.

”Do you want your hair to turn white at such a young age?”

Korma reached out her finger, lifted a strand of Katherine’s silver-white hair, and chuckled lightly: ”This is a completely new system of spellcasting... I didn’t quite handle the ’extent’ correctly during the last experiment, but now with the experience, I naturally won’t let you waste your life again.”

Saying this, she took out a palm-sized living frog from her pocket and handed it to Katherine:

”Hold it, and then chant the spell.”

Katherine did not hesitate at all, took the little frog, and held it tightly in her hand.

Then she held the Law book in one hand and the frog in the other, finally giving the audience downstairs one last look before softly chanting the spell:

”Ge Zhitianxi, imbue upon this building.”

A flash of light suddenly crossed the spell mark on the girl’s forehead, and then the frog she held in her hand struggled desperately a couple of times, its flesh visibly shriveling and withering at a pace visible to the naked eye, eventually turning into a puff of black ash slowly falling through her fingers.

Almost at the same time, a faint green glow emerged on the Law book.

The tricksters downstairs collectively drew a sharp breath.

Slender vines broke through the soil, climbing up along the mold-coated corpses on the floorboards, reaching up to the second-floor balcony, stuffing the gaps between the columns around it completely.

”Snap!”

Katherine’s Law book dropped to the ground with a ’thud’, and she finally recovered from the initial shock and impact, covering her mouth, tears streaming down from the corners of her eyes.

Korma placed her hand on the head of this newly initiated witch and gently stroked.

”It’s going to get better, everything is slowly getting better.” She repeated softly, as if speaking about the destiny of the North District tricksters or praying for her friend.

The sun had already sunk halfway below the horizon. Standing on the second-floor balcony and looking into the distance, the broken and rugged rooftops of North Beta Town came into view, coated in a dark red glaze by the sunlight, giving a magnificent and grand impression.

The owner of Jini Cottage’s heart, which had been tense all day, finally began to slowly settle back in place.

She took a gentle breath and turned her gaze back downstairs.

In the courtyard of the Cherry Blossom Pub.

Young tricksters lined up neatly, quietly and silently prostrating at the witch’s feet, motionless. Further down the gradually dimming street, one could faintly see more and more tricksters gathering.

They climbed out from dilapidated attics, walked out from drafty shacks, and crawled out from beneath torn cloaks in corners. They were wearing smelly leather jackets, patched robes, and various garments of indiscernible colors.

Their gazes were pious and fervent.

They quietly gathered.

There was no revelry as anticipated, no noise as imagined.

Everything happened so quietly, without a sound.

”From today on, you will have a new name,” she opened her arms, as if embracing this broken world, ”you will tell others that I am a wizard from the North District.”

”I am a wizard from the North district...”

”I am a wizard from the North District!”

At first, only Katherine standing beside Korma repeated these words, but gradually, the young mages in the courtyard also whispered them, their voices slowly carrying into the distance, along Gu Diao Street, winding through every alley of North Beta Town. Each mage softly repeated the phrase:

”I am a wizard from the North District!”

The sound surged like thunder, startling countless night crows.

...

...

”She changed the world.”

The Yellow Flowered Cat commented while squatting on a stone stool in the corner of the wall; it had stumbled upon this scene while hunting for mice. It had originally thought it was just a young witch lucky enough to be transformed into a Big Wizard, but it hadn’t expected such great ambition.

”Changing the world might be a bit exaggerated, but changing the North District is undeniable,” said the Elder Wizard standing next to the Yellow Flowered Cat, wearing a gray robe and a Pointed Wizard Hat. He was the owner of the Wandering Bar, the Wandering Wizard.

He clearly disagreed with the Yellow Flowered Cat’s opinion, ”Even if she had the ability to grant all the mages of the North District low-tier spellcasting abilities, it would only slightly lift the minimum standard for wizard evaluations. Not to mention, in the entirety of the North District, such a large place, having only her as a newly promoted Big Wizard... impacting the world is still far off.”

The Yellow Flowered Cat ignored the old man.

It still admired the view of the witch on the not-so-far balcony, watching her beautiful silver hair tinged with the sunset’s glow like the colors of the dawn.

”What a brave child,” it remarked.

”Reckless and brave are synonymous, and foolish and brave are often separated by a thin line,” the Wandering Wizard continued, ”Using life to transform magic power, considered utterly blasphemous and an act of a Black Wizard three hundred years ago. Has First University become so liberal now? Allowing students to use such dangerous magic?”

Finally, the Yellow Flowered Cat shifted its gaze from the distant witch to the old man beside it.

The Wandering Wizard, as if unaware, continued in a ponderous tone, ”...yet, it’s unknown if this counts as progress or a regression of the world... Sacrifice, sacrifice... Every sacrifice challenges the ’Wizard’s Codex’. What if Danghag decides to cause trouble for her?”

The Yellow Flowered Cat glanced sidelong at the old man wearing the Pointed Wizard Hat, maliciously revealing the sharp fangs curling at the corners of its mouth.

”Progress or regression, it has nothing to do with you or me. If Danghag finds faults, the staff in the school will handle it.”

The attitude and tone of the Yellow Flowered Cat were extremely vile, ”I only want to know where those two mice that assured me have hidden! Don’t lie... I know you have a good relationship with them both!”

During this conversation, it even waved its paw, revealing the sharp claws between its toes.

The Wandering Wizard deliberately ignored the cat’s claws.

His gaze fell on the transparent orb next to the Yellow Flowered Cat, observing the shadow of the small tree inside the orb, diverting the conversation, ”My dealings with them were purely business... Business is just business, and they wouldn’t stake their lives on business partners. Speaking of which, are you selling this little tree? The Wandering Bar can offer you an irresistible price.”

”Get lost!”

The Yellow Flowered Cat gave up on further conversation with this old scoundrel, flicked its tail, and its figure suddenly vanished from the stone stool without a trace.
