High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1230: Chapter 292 Study well, make progress every day

”As the saying goes, ignorance is bliss.”

Zheng Qing deeply understood this today.

Before knowing the truth, Zheng Qing would occasionally find himself troubled by unexpected accidents and true headaches, but he would quickly forget them, considering those experiences as mere trivial splashes in the long river of life.

But now that he knew the facts, looking back on his past experiences made his heart tremble with fear.

Zheng Qing felt that in his previous life he must have had a strong connection with Fortuna, otherwise he wouldn’t have been so lucky to escape so many crises.

”Is there no way to escape all this?”

Zheng Qing did not want to constantly face the covetous gazes from the starry sky or the darkness, nor did he want to be forced into the starry sky when the final limit came and the ’dam’ was either eroded by termites or overwhelmed by water. So he tentatively asked, ”I know the forbidden spell on me is likely irremovable... Is there any way to stop its progression?”

The sir chuckled:

”As long as you are alive in this world, as long as you observe this world, as long as you continuously learn new knowledge, the water in the dam will keep rising forever.”

”As long as the forbidden spell on you continues to develop, those ’Outer Gods’ eager to shed their wandering status, or the demons eager to break through their boundaries, or organizations longing for the power of the forbidden spell, will all force the dam to continuously produce ’termites’.”

”Study hard, and perhaps one day you can install a ’valve’ on yourself to adjust the water level in the dam body. Moreover, from another perspective, the more knowledge you acquire, the more effectively you can use the power of the forbidden spell to annihilate those creeping insects. It shouldn’t be too difficult.”

Listening to the sir’s words, Zheng Qing suddenly recalled the phrase ”study hard and improve every day,” then he looked up. Through a veil of nothingness, he seemed to see the vast starry sky.

The youth smirked, ”Sir, I haven’t read much, please don’t deceive me... The more I study, the more water flows into the dam, right? Maybe if I study less, it will take longer for me to ascend.”

Saying so, he stretched out his hand and poked at the sky.

”In some sense, that is indeed a paradox,” the sir admitted with a nod, ”but you need to know that knowledge has infinite creative power. It can create a forbidden curse, and naturally, it can also bind a forbidden curse. Perhaps you can find a balance—install a valve on the dam before it’s overwhelmed by the water.”

”Moreover, you are currently in the Land of Void,” the sir emphasized the young wizard’s current predicament, ”Whether you can escape this dilemma and return is still uncertain...”

”You must have a way,” Zheng Qing grinned foolishly, not caring at all.

The sir smiled and, for the third time, took out his pocket watch to check the time.

”What are you looking at?” the youth curiously asked, ”I noticed you’ve checked the time several times now...”

”Oh, before I came to fetch you, I just brewed a pot of tea. I need to keep an eye on the time, lest the stuff in the teapot gets overcooked.” The sir waved his hand nonchalantly and continued to explain to the youth:

”Just now you mentioned I have a way to take you from here. That’s true. But before we leave, you need to understand more about the significance of this space.”

”As I said before, ’this is where material and spirit intersect, where Death lurks, and souls take a brief respite.’ The existence of the Land of Void is maintained by the unknown. As long as the unknown remains, one can stay here indefinitely... and can only stay here indefinitely. Once you understand this concept, you will have the opportunity to escape this predicament.”

”It sounds easy, doesn’t it? But in practice, it’s not simple. Because a life without confusion is no different from a walking corpse. Life is brilliant because curiosity collides with reality, sparking beautiful fireworks.”

”Of course, you are a forbidden spell, and I also broke the constraints of this universe... The restrictions of the Land of Void on us may not be so stringent.”

”As long as you feel you have no more questions for the time being, we can leave.”

Upon hearing this, Zheng Qing was greatly encouraged.

He had wanted to leave for a long time.

Elena, Korma, Yellow Flowered Cat, and so on, there were many things outside that he cared about. Especially Elena. Thinking of the silhouette that resembled a petrified tree, the young wizard couldn’t suppress the restlessness in his heart.

It must have been an illusion, definitely a fake.

Even if it were real, I could beg my master, and surely there would be no problem—why couldn’t the master just turn back time a few rounds? He had saved Su Shijun that way last time!

But when he stood up and looked around, he froze in place.

”How should we get out of here?” he scratched his head and glanced at the master, feeling a bit embarrassed. By himself, he surely couldn’t find a way out of The Land of Void.

The master stood up, brushing off his robe. The chair he had been sitting on, the tea table beside him, and even the small teapot and fruit plate vanished into thin air the instant he stood up.

”Before I tell you the way out, I need to tell you a story,” the master took Zheng Qing’s hand, randomly choosing a direction, and leisurely walked deeper into The Land of Void.

As they walked, he slowly began, ”

A long, long time ago, there was an English wizard named ’Griffin,’ who accidentally fell into a time-space fracture and entered a magical world.

It was a world that resembled the ancient Wild Age.

Everything in it was as large as small mountains—the hundred-meter-tall giants walked above his head, mice as large as lions swaggered before him, and even a single grain of rice was bigger than a ping pong ball. He couldn’t even eat ten grains of rice in one meal.

The outside world was too dangerous.

Griffin hid in the remains of an egg cone the size of a house, trembling for days for fear of accidentally being crushed into powder by those terrifying beings.

He used various kinds of magic, hoping to find his way home.

But all had failed.

Then he began to despair.

After despair came madness.

Griffin madly rushed into the world of the giants, attempting to commit suicide. But he was too small, and the world too large. He lay at the feet of the giants, only to find that he wasn’t even as big as the seams of their shoes; he jumped into a lake, but merely floated lightly on the surface; he leapt from a cliff, but didn’t hit the ground even when he woke up the next day, instead feeling the rumble of his hungry stomach.

He even thought about using the weapons of the giants to commit suicide.

Sadly, the tips of the giants’ needles looked like mallets to him, and using a needle to commit suicide was less effective than slamming his head against a stone—he wasn’t afraid of death, but he feared an agonizing one, so he didn’t smash his head.

Time and again, he sought death but failed.

Griffin then came to a realization.

He didn’t want to die anymore.

—Since this world keeps me alive, there must be a reason for it.

He began to ponder deeply, wanting to escape this fearful situation.

The most direct solution was to become a giant.

How to become a giant? That was a complex question.
