High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1203: Chapter 265: Tail of the Early Morning (Added for Alliance Leader ’Wawa Cat’)

”...The last matter, according to reliable information, some students from Alpha Academy might soon instigate a direct confrontation with the students from Jiuyou Academy, does the school plan to intervene directly?” The teaching assistant’s deep voice echoed in the stifling office, causing the smoke lingering below the ceiling to ripple in layers.

”Let’s just watch.”

Professor Yao sat behind the desk, clenching his pipe, allowing a thick cloud of smoke to enshroud his head, rendering him like a headless ghost.

A sleepless night had left his voice somewhat weary, but his tone was as firm as ever, ”An important matter is imminent, there’s no time to slowly let their petty balloons deflate... It’s like a boil, once ripe it can naturally be squeezed of pus, if not ripe, surgery can drain it.”

”There are always some students who, if they perform poorly in exams, blame the examination system; if they get punished for breaking school rules, blame the school system; if their meal lacks salt, blame the cafeteria system. In short, everything is a problem with the system.”

”They never look for the problem within themselves.”

”First University is a university, not a nanny, we cannot solve all their problems. So, let them make a fuss this time, it’ll be quieter afterwards, preventing unnecessary complications for future plans.”

Standing in front of the office desk were several wizards of various identities, including Professor Li Qihuang from the professors’ joint conference, Zhang Yu, the leader of the Assistant Team, and a Grey Robe Wizard responsible for safety affairs from the School Works Committee—it could be said that, aside from the students, representatives of all major forces of First University were currently gathered in Old Yao’s office.

Although everyone was already aware of the Dean of Jiuyou College’s stance, still, hearing him articulate it so unequivocally, some couldn’t help but voice their opinions.

”But wouldn’t that be too risky?” Professor Li gently reminded, ”Old Yi has already communicated repeatedly, during this period the cause and effect lines inside and outside the school are completely entangled, nothing is clear... As the saying goes, ’the extremely active should be calmed with stillness; the excessively yin should be overcome with yang.’ Facing the restless situation inside and outside the school, inaction is better than action.”

In the end, he emphasized again, ”Calming with stillness, the crowd will naturally be at peace.”

”Inaction is better than action,” Old Yao chewed on this phrase, paused momentarily, suddenly smiled, raised his hand to disperse the smoke in front of him, then reached for a brush from the pen rack and wrote the character ”Clean” on the paper in front of him.

He looked up at Professor Li, explaining, ”Indeed, inaction is better than ’cleanliness,’ this ’clean’ is far better than ’still’. I understand your field’s view, which values ’the extremely active needing calming with stillness,’ but the pot is too turbulent now, it can no longer be calmed...”

Saying this, he glanced at Zhang Yu from the Assistant Team, adding, ”I recall the Assistant Team tried various ways some days ago to get those students to settle down... even those little rascals from the Seven Sins were sent up, but it still had no effect, right?”

Zhang Yu immediately bowed his head, responding, ”Yes. At present, no student organization can soothe the emotions of students from both academies.”

Old Yao nodded, placed the brush back on the rack, interlaced his fingers, leaned back in his chair, stretched lazily, and sighed, ”So, let them make trouble, vent the frustrations in their hearts; it’ll be comfortable for everyone.”

”Even if there might be student casualties?” Professor Li intensified his tone to ask.

Professor Yao’s reclining body stiffened for a few seconds.

Then he slowly withdrew his arms, stood up from the chair, and walked toward the window.

”Whoosh!”

The curtain was drawn open, and the window was opened.

The cool morning air rushed into the oppressive office, as fresh air and bright sunshine quickly replaced the fireflies and swirling smoke under the office ceiling.

Professor Yao, biting on his pipe and squinting, looked toward the direction of Bell Lake where the Little White Tower stood on an islet.

The professor watched for a long while before he replied in a low voice,

”Yes, even if it might bring unnecessary harm.”

...

...

When the Dean of Jiuyou Academy opened the window and looked toward Lakeside of Bell Lake, Student Amber, a Diviner from Atlas and a member of the Ouroboros Hunting Team, suddenly turned around, feeling something, and looked in the direction of the office building.

”Is there something wrong?” Andrew, as the Hunting Team Leader, was particularly sensitive to his team members’ conditions and immediately asked upon noticing Amber’s action.

The other members of the Hunting Team also uniformly turned to look at the Diviner wearing a yellow robe.

Amber blinked, a hint of confusion appearing on her face, and after a moment, she replied softly, ”Just now, for a moment, I felt malice from the school... but that’s impossible. If the school harbored malice towards us, we wouldn’t be standing here safely. Moreover, theoretically, there shouldn’t be such ’abnormalities’ in this campus.”

Implicitly, the current environment had deteriorated to the point where a Diviner might experience ’illusions’ at any time.

Her response did not alleviate her companions’ confusion; instead, it made them even more uneasy. The other two Hunters of Ouroboros looked at Andrew expectantly, hoping their team leader could come to a reliable conclusion.

Taylor family’s young werewolf clenched his fist, waved it in mid-air, and the magic ring on his finger sparkled brilliantly under the sunlight.

”What’s there to fear? We won’t be staying in the academy for long,” Andrew Taylor spoke with full confidence, ”Once Iseni gets ashore, we’ll take him straight back to Alpha Fortress via a shortcut... there won’t be any accidents.”

His words were logical and convincing—of course, what likely convinced them even more were the magic rings wearing on the paws of the Taylor family’s young werewolf. The dazzling magical glow surpassed any pale verbal reassurance.

Julian was about to crack a joke to relieve the tense atmosphere when he suddenly noticed a figure that had just appeared at the corner of the shady pathway.

A slender figure in a red robe.

It was Nicholas Green Oswald, the notorious veteran from First University, who had transferred between institutions twice. Just yesterday afternoon in a practical class, Nicholas had just had a confrontation with a student from Alpha Academy, nearly tearing the Alpha student’s mouth.

”He dares to come to the library?” Julian couldn’t suppress his surprise, ”After yesterday’s practical class, if it weren’t for the teaching assistant nearby, those guys from the 3A club would have torn him to pieces.”

The Alpha student whose mouth was torn yesterday was a member of the 3A club.

Andrew Taylor also noticed that silent figure not far away, glanced at his own Hunters, and snorted, ”Why shouldn’t he dare? This is Jiuyou Academy; that’s Book Mountain Library... If he dared to go to the library at Alpha Fortress, that might slightly surprise me.”
