High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1211: Chapter 273 Chaos (Part 2)

”Whoosh!”

When the dark red ’jelly’ was devoured by the passing spirit, inside the Jiuyou Academy female dormitory, Li Meng, who had been sleeping soundly with her head covered, suddenly sat up like a carp leaping to its feet, rolled out of bed, and without even putting on her shoes, stumbled out the door while running.

As she ran, she kept shouting, ”Wow, the toad wants to eat swan meat, the toad wants to eat swan meat...”

In her room, tucked into a ball, the furry teddy bear suddenly lifted its head to watch the little witch, its glass-bead-like eyes suddenly bursting forth with a brilliant light that enveloped the entire dormitory.

That unsettling feeling in the air vanished without a trace.

The little witch, who had made it to the door, tugged on the doorknob for quite some time but couldn’t open it. Not until then did her consciousness seem to clear up a bit.

”Huh?! How did I end up here? Could it be that I’ve been sleepwalking again?”

Li Meng still remembered the feeling from several days ago when she drank the Magic Potion to treat her somnambulism at the school hospital; the thought brought an instantly bitter taste to her mouth, as though she had chewed on a piece of coptis.

”Ptooey, ptooey!” She turned her head to the side and spat twice, while her head quickly scanned the dormitory.

Luckily, she did not discover the figure of Jiang Yu.

This allowed the little witch’s heart to slowly sink back from her throat to her stomach.

”Um, I’m still asleep... I’ve been sleeping the whole time, and I know nothing.” She punched her small palm and made a firm conclusion, then wandered her gaze around, searching for anything that might expose her tracks.

The Shadow Preserving Herb can only capture shadows; I’ll just say I got out of bed because I heard someone knocking outside?

The mirror on the dressing table is covered, so it shouldn’t have seen me sleepwalking.

And...

The little witch’s gaze moved slowly from the corner of the wall by the head of the bed and finally rested on a certain teddy bear sitting at the foot of the bed.

”I’ve been sleeping,” she stated very clearly, word by word, ”always!”

”I don’t know anything!” After noticing the little witch’s threatening gaze, the teddy bear’s round ears shot upright, shouting loudly while struggling to lift the heavy blanket off itself, attempting to dive under the bed.

But Li Meng was obviously quicker.

With an unusual agility, she leapt over, grabbed the tag on the teddy bear’s bottom, and yanked it into the air, then expertly pulled a strand of yarn from the corner of the bed, looped it around the teddy bear’s neck, and with a swift motion, tied the teddy bear up tightly, hanging it from the hook at the foot of the bed.

Especially the teddy bear’s mouth was diligently secured into a muzzle shape.

”Perfect,” the little witch nodded in satisfaction, clapped her hands, and hopped back into her own bed, moaning contentedly under the warm sunlight, ”Even though I don’t know why my cousin isn’t here... and didn’t wake me up... but since she didn’t call, it means I can sleep a bit more... huh, huh-huh...”

Soon, she fell back into a deep sleep.

Leaving behind only an innocent teddy bear, hanging in mid-air slowly twirling, with a sorrowful hue flowing from its glass bead eyes.

...

...

The Yellow Flowered Cat crouched at the entrance of the Secret Realm’s small world, its eyes cautiously fixed on the glowing crack. It lifted a front paw as if wanting to reach in, but seemed hesitant, its feline face filled with disgust.

It was as if there was a stinky mud pit in front of it, and the Yellow Flowered Cat had a hard time making up its mind to dirty its beautiful fur.

”Don’t let me catch you damned fellows! You should stay in the gutters for a lifetime!”

It cursed viciously at some entities, finally closing its eyes and aggressively grabbing in, its expression like reaching for a piece of shit.

But just as its paw tip was about to touch the light emitted by the crack, the Yellow Flowered Cat abruptly halted its paw. Its head was forcefully twisted backward, almost doing a 180-degree turn, which made one worry it would snap its neck.

The Yellow Flowered Cat’s originally squinted pupils also dilated in an instant, revealing a ferocious aura.

For just in that moment, it had sharply sensed the presence of the Outer God descending into two paths. One remained within this small world, its aura thick but its status low; the other abruptly appeared by the Jiuyou Academy on the lakeside of Bell Lake. Its aura was weak, but its status extremely high, so high that even the fur on the back of its neck bristled.

”This feeling... is it Azathoth? No, no, Chaos can’t descend into the place of Order. Azathoth’s gaze is obscured by the Foggy, and definitely cannot see this place. Nya’s Child is a clever God and wouldn’t cause trouble at the school. Yog-Sothoth would not be intercepted from his own door...”

As a cat with powerful mana, the Yellow Flowered Cat could easily determine the subtle differences under the entanglement of the two Outer God presences. It was obvious that the magic circle of the small world had summoned the minute yet higher-status presence. But before He could descend, the sacrifice had been intercepted by the stronger presence that came before.

Yog-Sothoth, as the ’Door watcher’, would definitely not make a mistake in such matters.

”So, is it the female black sheep? Who’s the other fellow? Feels sticky...”

The Deeps of Starry Sky is vast with countless entities, and even the Yellow Flowered Cat could not recall their origins in a moment’s time. But that was not the most important thing.

”The most important question now is, which side should I go to?” The Yellow Flowered Cat’s paw tip was only a hair’s breadth from the entrance of the small world’s light, yet its head had turned to its back, its gaze fixed on a certain corner of the academy, its eyes somewhat conflicted.

On one hand was the kid that the old man had entrusted me to watch over and grow up; on the other hand were the hundreds of students in the school. It was not easy to decide which was more important.

But.

I’m just a cat, why should I bother with all these troublesome matters!

Do any of those Outer Gods have anything good about them?!

Wouldn’t it be good to just stay in the bookstore, happily eating dried fish?!

Have all the Big Wizards in the school died out?

Has First University given me even One Copper as a subsidy?!

After these thoughts flashed through its mind, the Yellow Flowered Cat felt anger rising from its heart, evil growing at its gall bladder, its paw retracted, and its head quickly turned back again. Then its Tail swished and its body instantly disappeared in front of the entrance to the small world.

The scene shifted, and it had reappeared on the window sill of the San You Bookstore’s Pedestrian Street.

Under the sunlight, the small potted landscape on the window sill was full of vibrant green leaves and lush flowers; next to the landscape, in a small porcelain dish, several golden-brown dried fish were piled up, emitting a tempting aroma.

The Yellow Flowered Cat drooped its ear tips, tightly plugging its ear canals.

”Mmm, truly fragrant!” It took a deep sniff, a hint of a smile finally appearing on its feline face. However, that smile froze on its face after just a few seconds:

”MMP!”

The Yellow Flowered Cat cursed loudly at the world, its Tail flicking twice, and in an instant, its figure split into two, one to the left and one to the right, and it disappeared without a trace in the blink of an eye.
