Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 939: Chapter 456: Bound to Be Popular (First Update)

Daoist Wang made a sour face and grumbled, ”Fellow Daoist Lawrence, on such a fine day, could you not bring up such a downer?”

Lawrence Winters was quite surprised, ”Fellow Daoist Wang, you grew up abroad, and you also watch the national men’s soccer team?”

Fellow Daoist Wang rolled his eyes with a look of ”regret”, ”I was tricked! I thought the national men’s team was as good as the women’s team! But... reality taught me a lesson! My Taoist heart wavers every time I think of the national men’s soccer team!”

”Oh man, that’s serious!” Lawrence Winters patted his shoulder sympathetically, ”You should quit this. I’ve always believed there’s no men’s soccer team, they don’t exist. I automatically block all news about men’s soccer.”

Daoist Wang snorted, looking a bit annoyed.

The three of them regained their interest only when they reached the entrance of the client’s house.

The house here, although not as large in area as the Stetford Family’s estate on Long Island, New York, still stunned her with a lawn that seemed endless.

They had been walking for over two hours and reached the client’s doorstep, and it was already past five in the afternoon.

The sun hadn’t set yet, but it was no longer hot. The afterglow spilled over the grass, the clouds hung low, and the horizon showed the oil painting colors of blue, purple, green, and gray.

Clearly a rural style, yet possessing the luxury of ”quiet amidst the noise” of a metropolis.

There’s no big iron gate like the Stetford Family, but two rows of clean, white wooden fences enclosing the entire lawn.

In front of the large house, there stood an unknown kind of tree adorned with tiny pink blossoms, brilliant as the red sky.

It would surely be even more beautiful from inside the house.

Their committee’s modified Mercedes van was parked in front of the three-door garage beside the mansion.

Here, the size of a garage indicates the number of doors.

One-door garage for one car, two-door for two cars, and so on. Three doors can fit three cars.

But the open space in front of the garage also had several cars parked.

Because most people treat the garage as a storage room, rarely parking cars inside.

Daoist Wang said, ”Wow! They’re already here!”

Lawrence Winters: ”...”

Driving over takes less than half an hour.

They walked for two hours, could those who drove not arrive?

She rolled her eyes inwardly but maintained a faint smile on her face, walking up the straight red brick road leading into the mansion.

This kind of house, with a straight red brick road at the entrance...

Lawrence Winters glanced at Daoist Wang.

Daoist Wang just happened to look over, and they both smiled.

In the live streaming room, as the footage just switched from inside the mansion, everyone saw their knowing smiles.

The questions instantly flooded the screen.

”What are Heavenly Master Lawrence and Daoist Wang smiling about???”

”I have a feeling they discovered something remarkable!”

”No way! Did they figure it out just after entering?!”

”Not surprising, those six contestants earlier had the same smiles upon entry, but they returned to normal once inside.”

Lawrence Winters couldn’t see the live stream or know what everyone was saying, but she took out her phone and checked the aerial view of this house and immediately felt reassured.

She said to Daoist Wang, ”The feng shui here is actually quite good.”

”No way? This straight red brick road leading to the mansion is like a bloodied arrow pointing at everyone living there!—You call this ominous path good feng shui?” Daoist Wang gestured, expressing his lack of understanding.

Lawrence Winters shrugged, ”You can’t just look at the road; you also have to consider the surroundings and the style of the house.”

Daoist Wang’s expertise wasn’t in feng shui but in the ”Book Prohibition Department” of the ”Thirteen Arts of Healing” and was skilled in exorcism and dispelling wind poison.

Thus, his understanding of feng shui was superficial, far less professional than Lawrence Winters’.

Lawrence Winters handed her phone to him, saying, ”Here’s the aerial view of this house. I got it from Google. What do you think this house looks like from above?”

Daoist Wang took one look and was immediately surprised, ”Why is this house shaped like this?!”

On Lawrence Winters’ phone, the aerial view of the house appeared as a six-pointed star.

”Yes, this is a six-pointed star, also known as the Seal of Solomon. In this region, the six-pointed star symbolizes evil and supposedly can summon demons under certain rituals. Do you think anyone would live in a house shaped like a six-pointed star?”

Lawrence Winters pointed at the red brick road on the ground while smiling, ”And although this road is ominous, it suppresses the malevolent aura of the six-pointed star mansion, which is called ’using poison to fight poison.’ In terms of feng shui, it’s quite a clever solution.”

What she didn’t mention was that if that mansion was built long ago, the red bricks under their feet were probably not ordinary red bricks, or they’d be unable to suppress the mansion’s baleful aura.

Thinking like this, her steps seemed to get heavier.

Daoist Wang uttered, ”Oh,” looked utterly bewildered, but tried hard to appear as if he understood, saying ”So that’s how it is,” ”I get it.”

Lawrence Winters chuckled, ”No worries, can fellow Daoist Wang check if there’s any evil presence here?”

”But we haven’t even gone inside... we haven’t seen the client...” Daoist Wang mumbled while his eyes darted around.

Meanwhile, the guide standing beside them listened without daring to speak, and rather than showing an inexplicable crush, showed increasing reverence toward Lawrence Winters.

Nearing the mansion’s entrance, the guide finally seemed to make up his mind and said in a low voice, ”Heavenly Master Lawrence, this house was previously owned by white people, and at that time, the surroundings were just expansive lawns without this red brick road.”

He stomped the ground with his foot, ”This red brick road was added later.”

Lawrence Winters raised an eyebrow, ”Oh? How do you know that?”

”My family lives nearby.” The guide gave a shy smile and pointed east, ”Just over there. If you have time, Heavenly Master Lawrence, you’re welcome to visit my home.”

Lawrence Winters nodded, smiling, ”Sure, I’ll definitely visit if I get a chance. How long has your family lived here?”

The guide responded without hesitation, ”We’re among the earliest Chinese here, it’s been over two hundred years. And this family...”

He pointed toward the mansion they were about to enter, ”They’ve only been here for a little over twenty years.”
