Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 914: Chapter 448: Adults Make Choices, Children Want It All (Second Update)

Caitlin Gilbert, burning with jealousy, suddenly stood up and quickly marched over to Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne.

Arriving behind them, she took a deep breath, plastered on a smile, and chirped, ”Kenneth, why are you down here? Are you here to find me? I’ll go up in a moment to have lunch with you.”

Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne both turned around and saw Caitlin Gilbert flashing a standard smile, revealing eight pristine white teeth.

Lawrence Winters blinked, feeling that Caitlin Gilbert’s toothy smile was a bit odd, as if she was ready to pounce and bite her...

Kenneth Osborne’s eyes flickered with a hint of imperceptible displeasure, but he still courteously and gently said, ”Miss Gilbert, please accompany your father, I’ve met an old friend and we’re catching up.”

”An old friend? You mean her? You actually know her?! Since when do you know each other?!” Caitlin Gilbert was taken aback, pointing at Lawrence Winters, a thin layer of sweat suddenly forming on her back.

Kenneth Osborne nodded and said tactfully, ”Yes, we’ve known each other for a long time, since we were kids.”

This was obviously childhood sweethearts.

Caitlin Gilbert felt even more uncomfortable.

She bit her lip, her gaze flitting uncertainly between Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne, always feeling there was a strange tacit understanding between them, more than just old friends.

But she didn’t want to give up on Kenneth Osborne.

She had lived so long and finally found a man who completely matched her aesthetic, even more handsome than she had ever imagined, how could she give him up just like that?

Caitlin Gilbert took a deep breath and directly said to Lawrence Winters, ”Miss Winters, even though you may have known Kenneth earlier, I pursued him first, you can’t be the third party and fight with me.”

Lawrence Winters was amused by her, stood up and stepped aside, proudly saying to Caitlin Gilbert, ”Miss Gilbert, whatever your relationship with him is, it has nothing to do with me. Because he is already my ex-husband, I’m the one who didn’t want him.”

When it comes to provoking, we’re professionals.

Caitlin Gilbert’s mouth opened wide, almost big enough to fit an egg.

She was stunned for a while, then pointed between Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne in surprise, ”You, you, you... you got married?! And then divorced?! How could you...”

She wanted to say, ”How could you bear to not want him,” but just as the words were about to come out, she felt it would be boosting others’ morale while undermining her own, so she quickly changed to say, ”How did your divorce happen?”

”That’s none of your business either.” Lawrence Winters said with a frown, ”Mr. Osborne, shouldn’t you take your suitor away? Standing here, are you trying to disgust me so I can’t eat, to lose weight?”

Kenneth Osborne tugged at the corners of his mouth and nodded to Lawrence Winters, ”Then enjoy your meal, I’ll find you after the contest is over to talk.”

Then he turned to Caitlin Gilbert and said, ”I have things to do, I’m leaving now.”

With that, he left the opera house without looking back.

He originally wanted to watch Lawrence Winters compete on stage, but now with things like this, he felt embarrassed to return to the Gilbert Family’s box.

Previously Caitlin Gilbert hadn’t confessed, nor said she wanted to pursue him, now saying it directly in front of Lawrence Winters, he saw no need to feign ignorance with her.

Caitlin Gilbert saw something was wrong and quickly chased after him.

”Kenneth! Kenneth! Mr. Osborne! Mr. Osborne!”

Her form of address changed repeatedly, until she called ”Mr. Osborne,” Kenneth Osborne stopped in his tracks.

The two stood in the corridor leading out of the opera house, surrounded by yellowing wall lamps, with wallpaper on the walls decorated with gilded floral patterns.

Time seemed to rewind a hundred years, back to that era that invoked fear and anxiety.

”Mr. Osborne, the preliminary competition isn’t over yet, why are you leaving?” Caitlin Gilbert sensed Kenneth Osborne’s displeasure and cautiously asked.

She awkwardly rubbed her hands together and continued apologizing, ”Mr. Osborne, I’m truly sorry, I misspoke in front of Miss Winters earlier, please don’t be mad.”

Pausing, she drew circles on the floor with her toe before continuing, ”But I am sincere, I just shouldn’t have blurted it out. I really like you and want to pursue you. Miss Winters just said you’ve gotten a divorce...”

Kenneth Osborne sighed gently, his deeply magnetic voice almost echoing in the corridor.

He said calmly, ”Miss Gilbert, we’ve only known each other a few days, pursuing is too soon. And I’ve just been through a divorce, I’m not looking to develop personal relationships right now, nor do I wish to delay Miss Gilbert’s life matters.”

”You won’t delay, you won’t delay!” Caitlin Gilbert quickly waved her hand, happily saying, ”Then can I be first in line? When you decide you want a girlfriend, can you consider me first? Let’s be ordinary friends first! Ordinary friends!”
