Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 930: Chapter 453: Night of Awakening Spring Feelings (Second Update)_3

Evan Stetford placed her suitcase in the car, and despite her repeated refusals, he didn’t get in, just waved goodbye to her from the steps.

Lawrence Winters thought it was unnecessary anyway, since it wasn’t like they’d never meet again.

She still had three rounds of competition to participate in!

With the little electric scooter, she reached the big iron gate quickly.

In less than two minutes, she was already off the scooter, pulling her suitcase.

Across the asphalt road from the big iron gate, two tall men stood in front of a BMW, talking.

Lawrence looked at the back of the other person; it seemed to be Aiden Sheldon. He was also wearing sportswear, and she instantly understood how she ran into Ruby Sheldon returning from outside earlier.

This dog father took his dog daughter out for a night run.

He really knows how to have fun.

Lawrence Winters sneered in her heart, dragging her suitcase as she walked over.

Kenneth Osborne saw her coming and quickly said to Aiden Sheldon, ”I remember everything you said, Mr. Sheldon. I’ll call you when there’s progress.”

Aiden Sheldon nodded, ”I was thinking of introducing you to a few good lawyers, but since Mr. He is willing to be your agent lawyer, that’s even better. Listen to him well, don’t panic, talk to me if anything comes up. I can help cover the lawyer fees.”

Lawrence Winters didn’t want to pay attention to this dog dad Ruby Sheldon, but when she heard him offer to help Kenneth Osborne with the lawyer fees, she couldn’t help but say, ”Mr. Sheldon is so generous, isn’t he? But if you’re covering the costs, is there any interest charged? Mr. He’s lawyer fees aren’t just a small amount...”

Aiden Sheldon looked back to see her coming, a complex glint flickered in his eyes.

He inserted his hands into his pants pockets and said lightly, ”As long as the case is won, I can handle his lawyer fees. Miss Winters, don’t act like a porcupine and raise your spikes for no reason. I have no ill will.”

Then he strode off, heading toward the big iron gate.

Lawrence Winters widened her eyes and tugged at the corner of her mouth, ”This dog dad, his words are becoming more barbed by the day. When did I raise my spikes? Oh, wait, where would I have spikes? I’m not a porcupine.”

She didn’t lower her voice, and having complained so much in her heart, she inadvertently let the words ”dog dad” slip out, choking both Kenneth Osborne and Aiden Sheldon.

He staggered a few steps, almost losing his balance and nearly falling.

Aiden Sheldon turned back, wanting to say something, but Kenneth Osborne already swiftly opened the car door, shoving Lawrence Winters inside, then smilingly said to Aiden Sheldon, ”Nora’s just being childish; please bear with her, Mr. Sheldon.”

Lawrence Winters felt a bit guilty.

The words ”dog dad” were better kept in her heart; saying them out loud was indeed particularly rude.

Even though it was the truth.

She tightened her grip on the car door, pursed her lips, and awkwardly said, ”Uh, Mr. Sheldon, I’m sorry, I wasn’t talking about you...”

Great, now she was making things worse.

She was utterly despondent about her performance today, flopped heavily onto the car seat, closed her eyes, and crossed her arms, presenting a ”don’t bother me” body language.

Aiden Sheldon did take a long look at her, gradually showing an ambiguous smile, waved at them, ”Alright, get going, don’t get out of the car on the way, drive straight to the hotel. At night, the crime rate in New York doubles at least.”

Once Aiden Sheldon was out of sight, Kenneth Osborne started the car and roared off with Lawrence Winters.

Lawrence Winters was puzzled, ”That dog dad actually spoke so nicely today; is he hiding a big move?”

Kenneth Osborne held the steering wheel with both hands, unable to suppress a chuckle, ”Don’t just give people random nicknames; I think Mr. Sheldon is quite the decent guy. Just exceptionally doting on his daughter, which is only natural.”

He glanced at Lawrence Winters, lowered his voice, ”If you gave me a daughter, I’d doted her worse than Mr. Sheldon...”

Lawrence Winters gave him a side glance, didn’t fall for it, ”Mr. Osborne, we’re already divorced, don’t think of luring me with having a daughter. And of all people, you had to compare our daughter to Ruby Sheldon. Just how much do you hate your daughter? — If my daughter resembled Ruby, I’d rather strangle her while she’s still an embryo.”

Kenneth Osborne heard the words ”embryo” and couldn’t help but imagine some R-rated scenes.

A blush climbed up to the tips of his pale ears, and he didn’t say anything more.

...

The next day was the day of the official competition.

Lawrence Winters got up early, bathed in incense, and offered a stick of incense to the Three Pure Ones to bless her with success and fame for her lineage!

She watched the white smoke rise straight up from the incense and quickly burn out, gently sighing.

Alright, the Three Pure Ones accepted her incense and would do her bidding.

Lawrence Winters hummed a tune, carrying a simple travel bag as she left the room.

Today, she wore a red and white striped silk shirt with puffed shoulders and black chiffon culottes with a lining, and strutted about in a pair of Ralph Lauren tennis shoes—not the gray ones with golden threads—which were comfortable and great for running.

The backpack she carried was from a popular brand, but crafted intricately from selected calf leather.

Compared to big brands, the only thing lacking was the design.

In other words, this bag was practical but not visually appealing.

Kenneth Osborne emerged from his room at this moment.

He had changed clothes, now wearing a black long-sleeved T-shirt with the hem tucked into black jeans, accentuating his wasp waist and long legs, creating a mantis-like appearance.

One look at his mesmerizing face and Lawrence Winters almost whistled.

Kenneth Osborne’s lips curved slightly, ”I’ll take you there.”

”Do you have a ticket?” Lawrence Winters knew that tickets to the official competition were even harder to obtain.

Kenneth Osborne rubbed his nose, ”...Yes, I have a ticket.”

Caitlin Gilbert, to demonstrate her capability, had given him tickets to the preliminary and first and second rounds of the official competition.

Even Caitlin Gilbert herself didn’t have any tickets for the final round yet, so naturally, she hadn’t gotten them for him either.

Lawrence Winters’ eyes moved, ”...Did Caitlin Gilbert give it to you?”

She was quite curious about Kenneth Osborne’s relationship with Caitlin Gilbert, but realizing that she was already divorced from him, whoever he was with was none of her business.

Her previously excited mood instantly dropped.

Lawrence Winters lowered her head, ”Alright, I’ll go rent a car tomorrow.”

Kenneth Osborne didn’t say anything more and went out with her.

Today was the first round of the official competition.

The top eight had to first gather in the conference room at the headquarters of Stetford Corporation.

There, they’d first sign a waiver agreement, fingerprint, and then be grouped and assigned real-life case scenarios to solve.

Yes, there was no personal danger in the preliminary competition.

But in the official competition, they had to sign a waiver for life and death.
