Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 908: Chapter 446: The Higher the Tao, the Greater the Devil (Second Update)

As the entire audience silently watched this scene, Lawrence Winters quickly bent down, wanting to help Autumn Stetford up.

Autumn Stetford, seething with anger, couldn’t hold back any longer. She pushed Lawrence Winters’ hand away, supporting herself on the ground, and staggered to her feet.

Lawrence, being pushed, fell backward to the ground, surprised, saying, ”...Miss Stetford, what do you mean by this? Is it only officials who can set fires, while the commoners can’t light a lamp?”

Autumn Stetford was rendered speechless by Lawrence, her face turning red.

She had never been so humiliated in public before; this time truly crossed her line.

She clenched her fists tightly, using all her strength to control herself from losing her temper, but the fury in her eyes was almost tangible, as if she wished to burn Lawrence to ashes.

Autumn Stetford fixed her gaze on Lawrence, saying word by word, ”Heaven watches what one does. Miss Winters, you will face retribution!”

Lawrence’s expression turned serious as well, responding calmly, ”Likewise.”

Autumn Stetford’s pupils shrank suddenly but quickly returned to normal, limping away.

Her thin high heels couldn’t withstand such a sudden rise and fall, causing her ankle to get seriously twisted.

Ruby Sheldon, watching from a box on the second floor, was in disbelief and angrily rushed out of the box, intending to run downstairs, but was stopped at the stairway.

Aiden Sheldon followed her out, pulling her back, and said helplessly, ”Betty, this matter doesn’t concern you. Why are you going?”

”Dad! That’s Mom over there! That vile woman is treating her like that...” Ruby Sheldon anxiously grabbed Aiden, still trying to run towards the stairs.

”Shut up! How can you talk like that?! Betty, where are your manners?” Aiden frowned, his voice a bit raised.

Though it hadn’t reached the point of a furious scolding, such a reprimand had never occurred before.

Always doted on unconditionally by her father, Ruby Sheldon was stunned, almost forgetting to seek ’justice’ for Autumn Stetford.

By the time Autumn was helped back upstairs by bodyguards, Ruby had already cried herself into a tearful mess.

Aiden helplessly held her in his arms, gently patting her back.

Autumn Stetford looked up at them, her expression having returned to normal.

She asked in surprise, ”...What’s going on? Why is Betty crying so hard?”

”She’s worried about you.” Aiden looked at Autumn, his eyes showing undisguised concern.

Originally choked with anger by Lawrence, ready to explode, Autumn suddenly felt that today’s grievances and hurt were worth it upon seeing the concern in Aiden’s eyes...

She closed her eyes briefly and said with a gentle expression, ”I’m fine. I was too impulsive earlier and shouldn’t have asked someone to enforce order. I don’t blame Miss Winters.”

Ruby peeked out from Aiden’s embrace, staring at Autumn in a daze, and murmured, ”...Mom, that... woman made you kneel! You’re just letting her go like that?!”

”...That was an accident. She didn’t mean it.” Autumn finally regained her composure, suppressing all her resentment.

Aiden said no more and brought Ruby back to the box, while Autumn squinted and followed them inside.

Ava Harlow and Spring Spencer immediately approached as soon as they were in the box.

”Cousin, is your foot okay?”

”Aunt, do you need to see a doctor?”

Ava Harlow and Spring Spencer smartly avoided mentioning Lawrence Winters.

The earlier incident was indeed too humiliating, but so what?

People like them, would they lower themselves to Lawrence’s level and engage in a direct catfight?

That would be too undignified.

Besides, they believed Autumn would not let it end like this, but their position was also awkward, so they had to pretend they didn’t see it.

In the adjacent box, Kenneth Osborne’s emotions were like a roller coaster, at times thrown into the clouds, at times falling into valleys.

Not until Autumn limped away did he slowly let out a breath.

Caitlin Gilbert had been hoping Autumn would properly teach Lawrence a lesson, but she didn’t expect even Autumn would retreat defeated.

Her expression was somewhat displeased, and she said in a low voice, ”...This is too much, even Miss Stetford can endure?”

On Lawrence’s side, seeing Autumn leave, she didn’t forget her task, turning back to look at the Daoists preparing for the competition, and continued, ”The Grand Champion isn’t here, the competition won’t start!”

Those Daoists, swayed by her, immediately began chanting slogans.

”The Grand Champion isn’t here! The competition won’t start!”

”The Grand Champion isn’t here! The competition won’t start!”

”The Grand Champion isn’t here! The competition won’t start!”

However, this time, only a few dozen people were chanting along with Lawrence, not as many as before.

On the circular high platform, Richard Stetford remained seated in his position, but coughed lightly.
