Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 899: Chapter 443: Chaos on Stage, One Performance After Another (First Update)

Lawrence Winters dressed up early to meet Quentin Parker, wearing a formal black checkered silk blend jacket with a pointed collar, paired with white cotton cropped pants, and Ralph Lauren white stylish tennis shoes.

She was tall and had become more slender after losing weight.

Add in the Chanel LeBoy crossbody bag and her trendy short hair, she looked like an elite professional from a major investment bank in Manhattan.

Among the group of Daoists dressed in colorful robes holding dusters or short swords, she really seemed out of place.

Someone mistook her for the organizing staff, came running to ask, ”Miss, which judges are coming today? Will Mr. Grant, the champion from the last tournament, participate in today’s preliminary rounds?!”

The one asking was a middle-aged man in a blue Daoist robe, somewhat chubby, but with clear eyes, appearing quite sincere.

Lawrence Winters chuckled, saying, ”I don’t know, I’m here to compete too.”

As soon as she finished speaking, the Daoists and Daoist nuns around her, who had been sneaking glances at her, were all stunned.

They looked at each other in disbelief.

”What?! This miss is also here to compete?!”

”Dressed like that for a competition, you’re kidding me, right?!”

”...Can anyone nowadays enter the Celestial Path Sect’s major preliminary rounds?”

A curious Daoist nun even asked her directly, ”Miss, who is your master? From which region? I’ve never seen you before.”

Lawrence Winters found it amusing, saying, ”The Celestial Path Sect is so large, do you all really know each other?”

”Of course we all know each other,” the Daoist nun said casually, ”We are all under the Grant Branch, but from different regions and different masters. This once-every-four-years competition is also an elite gathering for the Grant Branch.”

Lawrence Winters: ”...”

Alright, under the banner of the Celestial Path Sect World Cup, but it has become the gathering signboard for your Grant Branch...

How disdainful are you towards our Zhang Branch?

Lawrence Winters raised an eyebrow, saying, ”What a coincidence, I’m not under the Grant Branch, and I don’t know anyone.”

”Not under the Grant Branch?! Then are you a rogue Daoist? How does a rogue Daoist get a chance to enter such a competition?! We have high standards!” The Daoist nun was even more curious, ”But you look so beautiful, why not join our Grant Branch? My master holds a high position in the Grant Branch, she’d be delighted to accept you as a disciple!”

Lawrence Winters smiled slightly, placing her hands in her pants pockets, leisurely saying, ”I have a master, and a sect. Plus, my seniority is high; no matter how high your master’s position is in the Grant Branch, they’d still be a generation lower than me. So you, little Daoist nun, should you offer a grand bow and call me ’Master Granduncle’? It might even be ’Great Granduncle’, ’Great Great Granduncle’, depending on your master’s seniority.”

The Daoist nun was dumbfounded, ”What do you mean, Master Granduncle, Great Granduncle, Great Great Granduncle... what are you talking about?”

”I’m telling you, I’m a generation higher than the highest in your Grant Branch. So if your master isn’t the highest in the Grant Branch, you should count how many generations lower you are than me.”

”That’s impossible! My master is the 81st generation in the Grant Branch! Only two generations lower than the Sect Leader with the highest seniority!”

Lawrence Winters looked down at her, with a subtle gleam in her eyes, calmly saying, ”Then I’m four generations higher than you, you should call me Great Great Great Granduncle.”

She casually revealed her sect, ”I am the sole successor of the 79th generation of the Zhang Branch. My master is the sole successor of the 78th generation of the Zhang Branch. Our status in the Celestial Master Sect is unique, compared to your Grant Branch, we meet with a generation superior, so I’m a generation higher than your current 79th generation successor, he should call me ’Master Aunt’.”

Lawrence Winters tilted her head, teasingly saying, ”Little lost great-great-great-grand disciple, why not bow to your Great Great Great Great Granduncle? I won’t make you bow in vain; I’ll give you a gift for meeting me.”

The Daoist nun, in her thirties, was considered young among the three hundred or so people, but Lawrence Winters shocked her.

She simply didn’t believe Lawrence Winters, scoffing, saying, ”Who do you think you are; turns out to be someone with a broken mind. Zhang Branch? Do you think there’s anyone from the Zhang Branch left? The Xu and Sa Branches already severed their lineage, and so did the Zhang Branch. Nowadays, there’s only our Grant Branch in the Celestial Path Sect!”

There’s no point in continuing when communication fails, and Lawrence Winters no longer wanted to speak with her.

She quietly moved her gaze away, watching the team ahead starting to move into the theater.

The middle-aged chubby Daoist who had been listening intently to them quietly asked, ”...Miss, are you really the Zhang Branch successor? Where did you apprentice? What luck you have.”
