Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 860: Chapter 430: I Am His Terminator (Second Update, Monthly Ticket 2400+)

Mr. Zhuge became much more honest and said very sincerely, ”Young Master Evan, don’t worry, I’ll definitely give you an explanation!”

Evan Stetford nodded, stood up, and raised a finger. ”One day. I’m giving you one day. By this time tomorrow, you will hand over the mastermind. If you can’t, I’ll help your Grant Branch do a big purge.”

He smiled faintly, brushed past Mr. Zhuge, and even patted him on the shoulder.

Mr. Zhuge only felt his shoulder suddenly sink, and his expression grew a few shades more serious.

Evan Stetford left the headquarters office and went straight to the Half Moon Hotel to pick up Lawrence Winters.

Lawrence was still in the same outfit: white top, black cropped pants, high heels, only her hair was now down, cascading like a black waterfall.

Evan’s security staff helped her open the rear door of the Rolls-Royce Phantom.

Lawrence bent down and slid in.

Evan also sat in the back seat; when he saw her get in, he merely inclined his head slightly.

Lawrence suddenly felt again like that first time she saw him in a movie back then. The expression on his face was the same calm one, even his movements hadn’t changed, but deep in his eyes there was a trace of heat.

This was still the big movie star Ava Harlow she had once been a fan of!

Lawrence sized him up from head to toe, clicked her tongue twice, and said, ”Young Master Stetford really is a different breed now.”

Evan smiled faintly, casually flicked his sleeve, and said, ”I forgot to tell you, my sister, my brother-in-law, and their precious daughter Betty are all here. And Cameron Spencer’s second wife and her daughter are at my place too.”

Lawrence: ”...”

She felt a slight displeasure in her heart, but under someone else’s roof, she had no choice but to bow her head.

When it came to outsiders, she’d always been someone who could bend and stretch.

Lawrence blinked and said with a face full of anxiety, ”...Huh? They’re all there? Then if I go have lunch... will that be awkward? That Miss Ruby, if she sees me, probably won’t be able to eat.”

She said it with a perfectly serious face and even furrowed her brows a little, looking as if she had quite the headache.

Evan was almost amused to the point of laughing out loud.

He quickly shifted his gaze away and said, ”But they went out shopping. Only my sister and brother-in-law are home.”

According to the information he’d received, Ava Harlow had taken Spring Spencer and Ruby Sheldon to shop along Fifth Avenue.

By now they were definitely having lunch outside and would shop until dark before heading back.

Lawrence let out a small breath of relief and patted her chest. ”Young Master Stetford, don’t talk in such suspenseful bursts. You scare me to death. My heart’s not great—careful or I’ll give you a live performance of a sudden heart attack on the spot...”

Evan’s lips curled. ”I remember my sister still has some prejudice against you. I hope you won’t take it to heart later. Just ignore her. With my father there, she won’t dare go too far.”

Lawrence understood and winked at him. ”Young Master Stetford, you really don’t have to worry. You’re Mr. Stetford’s only son—as long as you don’t have a problem with me, I’m not afraid of anyone in the Stetford Family.”

Evan laughed silently. ”Mm, it’s good that you think that way.”

The two of them fell quiet for a while, and Lawrence took the chance to look around this extended Rolls-Royce luxury car.

The interior of the car was fitted with all top-tier options, particularly the transparent partition between the front and rear seats, which also seemed to be completely soundproof.

Because when Evan spoke with the driver and security staff up front, he had to use the in-car intercom or his phone; he couldn’t just call out from the back seat and expect the front row to hear him.

After Evan finished speaking with them, he hung the handset back up and smiled as he asked, ”So what made you suddenly decide to go abroad? Traveling? Why did you come alone? President Xiao didn’t come with you?”

Lawrence shrugged. She certainly wasn’t going to say she was here to stir up trouble, so she spoke with a pained sigh instead. ”Sigh, it’s a long story. I quit my job, was in a bad mood, so I came overseas to clear my head.”

Evan looked quite puzzled. ”...You quit? Was that guy Edward Foster treating you badly? No wonder he even texted me saying you’d come over to my place.”

Lawrence cursed Edward Foster silently in her heart—he almost ruined her big plan...

But on the surface, she still said cheerfully, ”Oh yeah? Young Master Edward sure is a warm-hearted fellow. No, it wasn’t because of work, it’s my personal business.”

She didn’t want to say what personal business it was, and Evan was considerate enough not to ask. He only said, ”Since you’re here, you should really enjoy yourself. I’m free these few days, I can take you around.”

Lawrence laughed and said, ”Ah, that won’t do. Young Master Stetford handles a thousand things a day; you’ve got so much waiting on you. I wouldn’t dare disturb you.”

”Work never really ends. But your time here with me is limited, so I can definitely make time to accompany you.” Evan glanced at his watch. ”Oh right, in a few days we’re hosting the Celestial Path Sect World Cup Grand Champion Tournament here. If you want to watch, I can...”
