Lawrence Winters smiled slightly, confidently saying, ”It depends on who you compare with. Compared to ordinary Heavenly Masters, I’m definitely the strongest. But if it’s against a true Great Heavenly Master, I’m still not qualified.”

Lawrence Winters was unusually humble this time, because he was in front of Richard Stetford.

If it were someone like Ruby Sheldon, she would definitely boast about herself ten times more...

Richard Stetford chuckled, leaned back, and let the maid take away his finished tray, replacing it with a larger tray containing four dishes and one soup, all from oriental cuisine.

Lawrence Winters had the same in front of him.

Both meat and vegetables, along with a bowl of vermicelli vegetable egg soup.

The large white jade bowl contained green choy sum and orange egg flower, along with tender white vermicelli, looking quite homely.

Lawrence picked up some choy sum with his chopsticks and added a few strands of vermicelli.

Only after eating did he express mild surprise, ”Is this shark fin?! How come it’s made like vermicelli?”

She only knew about vermicelli being used as shark fin before, but this was the first time she saw shark fin used as vermicelli!

Richard Stetford laughed heartily, ”Why the surprise? Who said shark fin can’t be used as vermicelli? As long as it’s food, you make it taste good.”

These words truly struck a chord with Lawrence Winters.

She gave Richard Stetford a thumbs up, praising, ”Mr. Stetford, no wonder you’re a famous figure in Chinatown. Just one sentence from you is remarkable. Are you sure you’re not from the Celestial Path Sect?”

Richard Stetford shook his head, chuckling, ”I tried studying it when I was young, but I didn’t have the talent, so I let it go.”

Lawrence wasn’t into convincing people to study the Celestial Path either; she was just being polite and quickly focused on the sumptuous dinner.

When Evan Stetford arrived, Lawrence Winters was almost finished eating. Richard Stetford had long finished but still sat beside her.

Once Evan Stetford sat down, he smiled and asked him, ”Why are you back so late today?”

The sky outside had darkened, and the lights on the terrace gently illuminated.

The sea breeze brushed by, while some large peonies swayed faintly not far away, and camellias bloomed quietly in the shade.

The moonlight was obstructed by the terrace’s light, but it didn’t hinder the spread of subtle fragrance and the intermittent shadows.

Evan’s brow and eyes gained an extra layer of charm in the moonlight, looking much like when Lawrence first saw him in a movie.

Only now, he had stepped off the silver screen, appearing more vivid, yet without that enchanting aura.

After all, that was him acting, and now, this is his real self.

Evan looked famished, starting with a sip of soup, then exhaled deeply, saying, ”There was an unexpected situation.”

He paused, quickly speaking before Richard could frown, ”It’s a fortunate surprise.”

Richard picked up his cigar pipe, lighting it while squinting and smiling, ”You’ve also learned how to announce things with suspense now.”

”You have to get used to it...” Evan appreciated the delicious shark fin vegetable egg soup, quickly finishing his own, and asked for another bowl.

Lawrence Winters, by this time, had finished eating too.

Seeing Evan and Richard seemed about to discuss serious matters, she promptly stood up saying, ”Take your time talking, I’ll go for a walk on the beach over there.”

Richard nodded appreciatively, ”Go ahead, but don’t wander too far, there are sharks over there.”

Lawrence Winters: ”...”

She really hadn’t anticipated that!

Evan noticed her slight change in color, chuckling, ”It’s alright, sharks aren’t in our sea territory, but indeed, there are sharks here.”

Lawrence Winters’ lips twitched, feeling speechless, she walked away towards the sea.

Evan kept eating while watching Lawrence’s gradually distant figure, unable to look away.

Though Richard was quite old, he too had been young once.

He said nothing, quietly smoking his pipe by the side.

Evan soon ate to a half full state, allowing him to slow down and speak calmly.

Richard seldom saw Evan so hungry, asking curiously, ”Have you not eaten all day?”

”I only had a slice of toast in the morning.” Evan calmed his fiercely beating heart, picking up a napkin on the long table to wipe his hands, only then remembering to ask, ”...By the way, why were only you and Lawrence here earlier? Where are sis and brother-in-law? And Betty, along with the Spencer mother and daughter?”

”We also had a little unexpected situation.” Richard smiled compassionately, as if nothing had happened, ”Your sister felt a bit unwell, your brother-in-law and Betty followed her to where they’re staying. The Spencer mother and daughter went along too.”

Evan saw there was no serious problem, so he didn’t ask further.

He glanced around, noticing there wasn’t anyone nearby, then lowered his voice to tell Richard, ”Dad, there’s a really important guest attending the preliminary tomorrow. I only received the news when I went to the office this morning.”
