Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 881: Chapter 437: He Loves Her, But It Has Nothing to Do With Her (First Update, Seeking Monthly Ticket)

Of course, Kenneth Osborne clearly recognized one fact: he loves her, and it’s unrelated to her.

This sentence could have been spoken with lingering emotion and deep affection.

But Kenneth Osborne knows, it’s precisely the literal meaning of ”he loves her, and it’s unrelated to her,” without much romance or hesitation.

Realizing this fact, he smiled wryly and lost his appetite.

He put down his chopsticks, feeling a bit thirsty, and waved to the waiter to bring him a bottle of mineral water.

Not long after, a bottle of mineral water was placed beside him, but the person sat down opposite him.

Kenneth Osborne raised his eyes in surprise and saw it was the young woman who claimed to be ”Caitlin Gilbert” whom he met on the plane!

”It’s really you! Mr. Osborne, I told you we are destined to meet!” She was extremely excited, ”Today’s meal is on me, come to my place for dinner, I must be a gracious host!”

”...Your place?” Kenneth Osborne was even more surprised, ”Is this your place?”

”This restaurant is run by my family. The owner is my dad.” Caitlin Gilbert winked at him and raised her hand to point at the second floor, ”I just returned home today, and my dad is hosting a private gathering upstairs to welcome me.”

”How did you know I was here?” Kenneth Osborne calmed down, feeling it didn’t matter.

After all, Chinatown is a small place; if this woman really grew up in Chinatown, it’s not surprising he’d encounter her while eating at the biggest restaurant here.

Caitlin Gilbert propped her head with one hand, looking at Kenneth Osborne with fascination, ”Isn’t it because our Mr. Osborne is so charming! Do you know, from the moment you walked in, you became the focal point of the whole room, so many girls are secretly talking about you behind your back... I heard our restaurant’s waiter saying a stunningly handsome man had arrived! I was curious and came out to see...”

”I didn’t expect it to really be you!”

Kenneth Osborne: ”...”

He couldn’t find words for that.

But Caitlin Gilbert didn’t care whether Kenneth Osborne responded.

She’s worldly but has never seen a man who looks as good as him.

Compared to him, foreign handsome male celebrities seem too crude, while domestic ”flower boys” are too effeminate.

Moreover, he’s not relying on his looks for a living, thus elevating his allure to an almost untouchable level.

She felt she could look at him like this forever.

Kenneth Osborne twisted open the cap of the mineral water and took a sip, then beckoned for the waiter to come settle the bill.

A few female waiters were indeed hiding aside, secretly watching him.

Seeing him about to settle the bill, they almost fought just to be able to bring the bill to him.

Caitlin Gilbert nodded towards them and said, ”See? They’re fighting over you. Such a blue beauty disaster...”

Kenneth Osborne’s mouth twitched.

Honestly, while back home, people weren’t so exaggerated like this, Kenneth Osborne truly felt overseas Chinese hadn’t seen much of the world.

He lowered his head slightly and said flatly, ”Miss Gilbert, did you grow up in Chinatown? Are you very familiar with here?”

”Oh yes! I’m very familiar with it! But don’t call me Miss Gilbert so formally, call me Caitlin, my friends and family all do!” Caitlin Gilbert was very excited to see Kenneth Osborne finally showing a bit of interest in conversation.

Kenneth Osborne raised his eyes to glance at her.

Phoenix eyes clear and distinct, looking at someone without any affection or meaning, indifferent.

But in Caitlin Gilbert’s eyes, it carried an indescribable charm.

This glance was almost magical, completely captivating Caitlin Gilbert’s heart.

Without Kenneth Osborne needing to ask, she already started spilling everything she knew like beans from a bamboo tube.

”The area of Chinatown, New York is quite large, nowadays it’s also called Chinatown. But the oldest, strongest, most authentic Chinatown is our block.”

She gestured outward, ”Chinatown has its own set of management rules, outside policemen generally don’t interfere with us, if something arises, they all connect with our upper echelon.”

”Upper echelon?” Kenneth Osborne squinted, ”Chinatown’s upper echelon? Do you mean those people, community councilors or government officials?”

”Neither.” Caitlin Gilbert laughed and shook her head, ”It’s the Stetford Family and the Celestial Path Sect Grant Branch.”

Kenneth Osborne: ”...”

”Stetford Family? Celestial Path Sect Grant Branch? That sounds truly intriguing.” Kenneth Osborne said with a faint smile, taking another sip of mineral water.

Caitlin Gilbert was encouraged, becoming even more enthusiastic in her storytelling, ”It’s not just intriguing! The Stetford Family has been presiding over Chinatown for at least two hundred years, the Celestial Path Sect Grant Branch has been around for a shorter time, probably seventy plus years. But the Grant Branch has been flourishing in recent years, with many talented individuals emerging, nearly matching the Stetford Family.”
