Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 885: Chapter 438: The Freedom I Gave You Went Too Far (Second Update)

Autumn Stetford collected her smile and said lightly, ”I’m just grasping the overall direction. The specific matters are prepared by the people of the Celestial Path Sect. I won’t interfere.”

”Oh.” Lawrence Winters shot her a meaningful glance, ”No wonder the Grant Branch is becoming more and more arrogant. It seems Mrs. Shen has given them too much freedom.”

”What do you mean? Speak properly, don’t make insinuations. It’s unsightly.” Autumn Stetford elegantly placed the napkin on her lap.

”Mrs. Shen is right.” Lawrence Winters looked towards Ruby Sheldon, who was smiling smugly, and said, ”Miss Shen, your mother is teaching you, speak properly, don’t make insinuations. It’s unsightly.”

Ruby Sheldon’s smile froze on her face, and she said angrily, ”My mom was clearly talking about you! What does it have to do with me!”

”It has nothing to do with you? You just said dealing with those people from the Celestial Path Sect is lowering yourself, but how many years has your mom been dealing with those same people? Twenty years? And the Stetford Family has always controlled the Grant Branch, how many years have they been lowering themselves?”

Lawrence Winters said with a grin, expertly challenging Ruby Sheldon without breaking a sweat.

In the past, she feared that provoking the Shen couple would drive them mad, and as a commoner, she couldn’t afford to offend The Wealthiest.

So she avoided Ruby Sheldon, even if provoked, she could only keep the peace.

But now she saw that Autumn Stetford was quite wary of Richard Stetford, and Richard wasn’t someone who blindly covered for family, so she felt she could speak openly.

One should enjoy life when one is happy, never let a golden goblet face the moon empty.

Lawrence Winters lifted her full crystal glass in a toast to the moon.

Ruby Sheldon was left speechless by Lawrence Winters’s retort and didn’t know how to counterattack for a moment.

Luckily, Spring Spencer, nearby, mediated, ”Back when Aunt first organized the Celestial Path Sect competition, she was younger than Alfie, wasn’t she? It wasn’t easy to handle such a big event smoothly for so many years. Women have to work harder than men to succeed in the workplace.”

Autumn Stetford’s expression slightly softened, and she nodded, ”Luckily, at that time, my father guided me hand by hand, and the uncles in the Grant Branch gave our Stetford Family face, and we barely managed to pull it off.”

This was a modest statement, which Lawrence Winters didn’t entirely agree with, but she said nothing more.

As they spoke, the maids began serving the dishes.

The starters were cold appetizers. In front of everyone was a tray with neatly arranged marinated delicacies: marinated roast goose, duck tongues, pig ears, pig tongue, pork face drizzled with garlic sauce, and quail eggs.

The quantity wasn’t large, but the quality was very high.

The seasoning was just right, neither overly salty nor overly sweet. The unique aroma of star anise, bay leaves, cinnamon, and fennel intertwined, igniting a storm on the tongue and awakening the taste buds in anticipation of a feast.

Lawrence Winters was very satisfied with this type of food and dining style.

Eastern cuisine, but Western individualized serving style, not having to share dishes with those she disliked was perfect.

Ruby Sheldon, however, was not fond of these marinated dishes.

She frowned slightly and said lightly, ”I don’t like these. Please bring me a roasted turbot. I’m dieting, so I don’t eat such oily things.”

Lawrence Winters had just finished the marinated dishes in front of her and, hearing there was turbot, also said, ”Bring me one too, but I want it steamed, drizzled with steamed soy sauce, and steamed very tenderly.”

Ruby Sheldon stared at her.

Lawrence Winters made a face at her, and out of the corner of her eye, she suddenly noticed someone looking at her.

She casually wiped her mouth with a napkin, her eyes shifting to meet Aiden Sheldon’s gaze.

Lawrence Winters: ”...”

This damn dad, is he about to shield his daughter and scold her for being ill-mannered?

Lawrence Winters was ready for battle, but Aiden Sheldon turned his gaze away and said to the maid, ”Bring me a steamed fish too, no soy sauce, just a bit of fresh soy sauce will do.”

Lawrence Winters raised an eyebrow in surprise; alright, this damn wealthy dad knows how to eat.

Steaming turbot with fresh soy sauce to enhance the flavor is better than with steamed soy sauce.

She wanted to change hers too but worried about being laughed at by these people, so she said nothing.

Ruby Sheldon was just angrier, feeling like her father was helping Lawrence Winters, ”Dad! Roasted turbot is the best! Why steam it!”

”Turbot is too thin, the meat is delicate, and it’s hard to roast well.” Aiden Sheldon patiently explained to her, ”When the fish arrives, try it and you’ll know. I’ll give my portion to you if you like it.”
