Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 877: Chapter 435: Look Carefully—Is It Really So?

”Moreover, Mr. Zhuge is an expert in the Celestial Path Sect, not a criminal investigator. Why don’t we just call the police and let the professionals handle the professional work?”

Evan Stetford smiled and said, ”No need to call the police because we have professionals who can handle professional work.”

As he spoke, he pressed a button on his desk, called someone in, and said, ”Director An, the Grant Branch has been restless lately. The Great Celestial Path Sect’s competition is about to begin. I order you to infiltrate the Grant Branch for a thorough purge. Root out those hypocrites with ulterior motives who refuse to properly fulfill their duties as Heavenly Masters!”

”Of course, the most important thing is to find the real culprit behind Maria’s case. This person not only dared to commit murder in my Chinatown but also dared to challenge my Stetford Family’s century-long ban!”

Evan Stetford took a gun out of a drawer and slapped it onto his desk, saying coldly, ”...Let’s have the Stetford Family teach them a lesson.”

”Yes, Master Stetford!” Director An replied loudly, his actions precise and precise, clearly showing he was a retired member of the disciplined forces.

After Director An left, Evan Stetford had Aaron Walton untied and said, ”...If you didn’t do it, why did you confess?”

Lawrence Winters also curiously asked, ”...Were you forced? Or did someone offer you benefits to take the fall?”

Aaron Walton kept his mouth shut, saying nothing at this moment.

Evan Stetford nodded, ”Since you don’t speak, your suspicion hasn’t been cleared yet. Someone, take him into custody for now.”

Lawrence Winters regretfully said, ”Mr. Walton, I noticed that your luck hasn’t been good recently. Let me change your name for you. If you agree, it could save your life.”

Aaron Walton closed his eyes and, disregarding Mr. Zhuge’s fierce glare beside him, deeply bowed to Lawrence Winters, ”Please, give me a name, Great Heavenly Master Winters.”

Lawrence Winters smiled and said, ”Just change the ’Long’ character in your name to ’Xin’, and it will be fine.”

”Aaron Walton? Finn Walton?—Good name!” Mr. Zhuge praised as he clapped, ”We of the Celestial Path Sect have always revered nature, following our hearts. From the heart, of course, is more in line with the ways of those in the Celestial Path Sect than from the dragon!”

Aaron Walton quickly bowed as well, ”Thank you, Great Heavenly Master Winters, for the name! From now on, I am Finn Walton!”

Evan Stetford glanced at Lawrence Winters, raised his hand, and said, ”Take Aaron Walton, no, Finn Walton away.”

After Finn Walton left, Mr. Zhuge also took his leave, saying, ”Master Stetford, Heavenly Master Winters, I need to return to assist Director An with the reorganization of the Grant Branch, excuse me.”

”Take care, Mr. Zhuge.” Evan Stetford showed no intention of standing up.

After Mr. Zhuge left, Evan Stetford looked at Lawrence Winters with confusion and said, ”Winters, why do you think Finn Walton isn’t the true mastermind? He certainly doesn’t like your face reading...”

Lawrence Winters took another sip of mineral water and said blandly, ”It’s actually very simple.”

”First, Maria’s murder proved my face reading was correct. If Finn Walton wanted to compete with me, would he be dumb enough to hire someone to prove I was right?”

”Second, even if he wanted to frame me, what’s the motive? There’s no fundamental conflict of interest between us. His fortune-telling isn’t always accurate either. So even if he got Maria wrong, it wouldn’t stand in the way of him continuing as the top on the fortune-telling street.”

”Third, he is so obsessed with face reading that he even asked how I deduced Maria’s fate line. What does this indicate? It indicates that he still doesn’t believe Maria’s fate was to die immediately.”

”Since he didn’t believe Maria would die at all, why would he hire a killer and then frame me?—It’s just unnecessary trouble.”

Evan Stetford looked at her, smiled slightly, and said, ”...Hmm, your analysis is very accurate. But if you change Finn Walton’s identity, his actions would make complete sense.”

Lawrence Winters got it too, regretfully resting his chin on his hand, ”It’s a pity; it seems you won’t have the chance to avenge Maria.”

”The gunman and the middleman have been fed to the fishes. As for the main instigator... let’s wait a bit; they’ll eventually slip up.” Evan Stetford stood up, ”Alright, let’s head back. Have you finished looking through those records?”

”I’ve only looked through a small part.” Lawrence Winters thought about it and felt a headache, ”Why can’t I read them on my phone? I’m holding those books without any feeling now.”

”There’s no helping that.” Evan Stetford shrugged, ”Those records can’t be digitized; that’s our rule.”

”I was just saying, I still have to finish them.” Lawrence Winters walked out with him, shoulder to shoulder.

As they left through the door, Evan Stetford suddenly asked, ”...Why change Aaron Walton’s name to Finn Walton?”

”Take a guess...” Lawrence Winters revealed a sly smile, ”What character does his name make when combined?”

Evan Stetford thought for a moment, then couldn’t help but laugh, ”...Coward? You’re calling him Chang Coward?”

Lawrence Winters curled his lips, ”Yeah, his face is too upright, not opportunistic enough. Changing his name to Chang Coward will remind him to be cowardly all his life, live long.”

She and Evan Stetford walked out of the mansion, standing on the terrace.

She squinted at the blue sky, ”Look, there’s a plane.”

A large airliner cut across the sky, roaring by and soon landing at New York Airport.

Kenneth Osborne stood in the aisle with a light carry-on, waiting to deplane.

He had bought a business class ticket because when purchasing, there were no economy tickets available.

His passport held a ten-year American visa, allowing him to travel freely between the two countries within that period.

Originally applied for to handle lawsuits, he didn’t expected to use it so soon.
